I feel like TTT was very politely stating what the word down south is- the top schools see 3* guys that they prefer over Colzie. I don’t mean to put words in his mouth but I had read sometime back that schools were flat out passing on this guy or at least had him lower on their boards. I still feel like he should be a take but I would be interested to know why they are so low on him.

Maybe, but Bama also already has a highly ranked 5 star "big" committed. Jacorey Brooks is 6-3.

I'll take a 6-4 Colzie any day.

I think Bama is still chasing after Brian Thomas. If they miss on him, which I think they will to LSU, I think Bama still stand pat on the three WR's they have committed already. Georgia just took a 3 star commit at WR. They still need help at the position and one would think they would get Colzie in the fold but it just seems like they are not as interested or maybe they feel they can slow play him.

UGA took 5 receivers in last year's class, so I wouldn't say they need help at the position.

I think it's more they need that talent to materialize. I'd say they're probably pursuing a different skillset this year at receiver than what Colzie provides...or they know that he's very much a ND lean and all it really would take is for him to feel comfortable leaving home to pull the trigger.

What made him cool so much on ND?

Mom has PTSD. Brave woman suffered it while serving overseas.

He wasn't sure he wanted to leave somewhere far from home. His mom wants him to go where he loves and he feels most comfortable, which seems to be ND.

They're definitely trying to claw back. Top 10 in recruiting rankings the last 2 years, and top 15 the last 3. They'll never compete with academics, but only one SEC school comes close. They do have a huge fan base, great stadium, and rich donors. Purely my opinion, but their biggest issues has been horrible coaching choices since Fulmer.

And hot chicks with a twang.... can't forget that.

It's ironic that Fulmer was the source of their strength during their prime years, because he's now the source of their struggles. Great coach in his prime, so far a pretty terrible AD.

If Farrell is telling the truth, I think it’s a really good sign. His reasoning is, he was told by another schools coach that it’s going to be ND.

Yep, they’ve gone through a similar stretch post-Fulmer that we went through post-Holtz. Both schools got rid of a NC winning coach and then made a series of bad coaching hires. I personally don’t think Pruitt is the guy but we’ll see.

I am kinda thinking that mom's very pro-ND stance is making other schools back off, or at least keep them from pushing too hard.

I am good with mom's being pro-ND for their kid, but in cases like this I hope the kid wants to be at ND. Don't go to ND because your parents want you to.

I think Colzie wants to be at ND, he wanted his mom's blessing to leave her, and wanted to reevaluate his recruitment.

ND is going to add a commitment on 9/28!!

Only thing working in our favor is the possibility that his other favorites fill up first.

I'd like to say that I was one of the guys who thought it was silly to think this recruitment could end favorably for ND as of a month ago. It repeatedly felt as though Colzie was going to shop from one SEC school to the next until he found a landing spot. I mean, once it came out that Tennessee was a big contender it was hard not to feel that way

It's great that ND has stayed on him the whole time and it looks like it worked out. At the same time, it appears as though UGA, UF, Bama and now Tennessee have either passed/not made him a priority. Their loss, our gain.

Freeman in with the pick as well. Styles, Colzie, and Thomas at WR seems perfect. Get TMA as an ATH.

But why did those schools pass?

But why did those schools pass?

Not sure but if the #84 kid in the country wants in and staff trusts his character I'm taking him without hesitation about whether he's a good enough player.

But why did those schools pass?

Don't follow any of them so I can't say for sure however without digging deeper I think most of them already have a number of receivers in the fold. Some have a theory that a school like UGA/Bama is looking for a burner type rather than a big bodied guy like Colzie.

I'll admit seeing schools not push for him made me think he might not be the athlete we thought he was, and it doesn't account for pure speed, but his 247 eval makes note that he is a state medalist high jumper.

"Tall wideout with an angular build that has begun to fill out over his final years in high school. Is a top athlete who tests well in combine settings and is a state medalist high jumper. Carries that size and speed combination over to the field. Has turned in several impressive camp performances prior to his junior season. Plays for a private school in a small classification and is thus a mismatch against most opposing defensive backs. Able to separate downfield and shows the ability to track the ball over his shoulder. Has more build-up speed than initial quickness at this point. Will need to continue polishing his game against top competition when he gets the opportunity. Projects as a multi-year starter at the Power Five level with the upside of developing into an NFL Draft pick. "

That's one hell of a class after lots of ups and downs if it finishes like this. Stack that behind Jordan Johsnon, Xavier Watts, and Jay Brunelle and you've got some serious talent coming into the position. Curious how 2022 will look with some local big time options (Kaleb Brown, Tyler Morris, Reggie Fleurima, Kevin Coleman - not as much but still driving distance). Boy does ND need the talent at the WR position. Becoming an increasingly important position.

WR Deion Colzie is one of the top uncommitted WRs in the 2021 class and he has set a commitment date.<br><br>He talks the date, who's still being considered, if his mind is made up and more here: <a href="https://t.co/jSo3CXxjKq">https://t.co/jSo3CXxjKq</a> <a href="https://t.co/dGiuA2HPQA">pic.twitter.com/dGiuA2HPQA</a></p>— ChadSimmons_ (@ChadSimmons_) <a href="https://twitter.com/ChadSimmons_/status/1305503948841902083?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">September 14, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Deion Colzie committed to Notre Dame in October 2019. Then, after being committed to the Irish roughly five months, he de-committed and re-opened his recruitment in March earlier this year.

The four-star wide receiver out of Athens (Ga.) Athens Academy is now ready to make his final decision. He was hoping when he backed off his pledge to Notre Dame that he would be able to get out for some visits, get some face-to-face time with different staffs, and see different campuses, but that never became an option.

So now he is working towards a decision on September 28 and he is focused on three schools.

"It is down to Florida, Notre Dame and Tennessee," said Colzie. "I have thought about it a lot and those are the schools that have stayed with me and recruited me the hardest.

"I have talked to those schools a lot the last few months, each has shown a lot of interest in me and I have a good feeling with the coaches.

"When I make my decision September 28, I will be committing to one of those schools."

Colzie didn't want to go into too much detail on the finalists, but he did say the connection with Billy Gonzales and his development of receivers at Florida played a role in the Gators making the cut. The way Notre Dame never gave up on him made an impression on him and his family. Tennessee head coach Jeremy Pruitt put time in to make Colzie feel wanted and that made the Vols stand out that much more.

Now, Colzie will think things over a little longer and come to a final decision.

"I am getting close to knowing which school, but I am not there yet," said Colzie. "I am still deciding which is the right one for me. I am going to stay in contact with all three schools, continue to build on my relationships with the coaches and then talk it over with my family and my coaches.

"I will be ready by September 28. I am just working to get my recruitment over with this month so I can focus on my senior season. I am ready to not have to worry with recruiting anymore, so I will be ready to commit soon."

He will re-commit to ND ---hot take

i really do believe in the end, we pull this off...BK and company sent his mom that tweet congratulating her on some award which she retweeted. the fact we were his favorite since he was a kid...BK using the mom angle to help which i think will help us in the end. i think it will be a late push towards signing day/ or early signing (not sure if he is an ee)...im sure he feels the pressure currently but it all ends once he signs.....usually i give about 1% chance a kid re-commits but ND is not stopping its pursuit.

Panda crushed it.

And then there was me... I gave him a 1.8% chance of recommitting. A swing and a miss.

Pass the crow, I too thought it was unlikely. I still wonder what would be going on had UGA or Bama been all over him but now that football is back, I don't have time for all that. Will be a great addition to the class.

Teenagers. The coach that finally figures them out will have more 5 star recruits than they can shake their fist at.

The 28th is two weeks away. Wonder what he needs to know between now and then to make that decision? Or, is he waiting on the three hats to arrive? Someone tell him about Amazon Prime and next day delivery.

Not to put the cart before the horse, but it's going to be fun watching Buchner play with all this receiver candy!
