Because the Brady era teams were inferior to this year’s team as well as the ‘18 and ‘20 teams. Quinn would’ve made all these teams better.
Also, Quinn was a 1st round pick and played 7 years in the NFL. Book was a 4th rounder and mostly a practice squad player. Leonard is projected to be a late round pick. Both Book and Leonard had serious flaws passing.

Also got a bad break with Cleveland. Who knows what would have happen if he was drafted by a team with a decent QB for him to sit and learn behind like Aaron Rodgers.

Quinn was also hindered by his rookie contract. The deal included bonuses for playing time, which gave Cleveland financial incentives to keep him on the bench.

You just listed off a bunch of talent that either didn't play or barely made it to NFL with no true impactful careers.
BQ was cursed getting drafted by Cleveland. Samardzija would have been a top 10 pick and no doubt a great NFL WR. John Carlson had a nice NFL career, so did Ndukwe and Landri. Zibby may not be Kyle Hamilton but played 5 years with Baltimore when Lewis played. Same with Sergio Brown and Bruton, not a pair superstars....but both played for consistently for 7/8+ seasons. Ryan Harris had a nice long NFL career. Shit, forgot about John Sullivan and the 17 years he put in with the Ravens.

I guess all I meant when I mentioned those 4 in Rhema, Samardzija, walker and BQ....is it's not like BQ was on trash teams with no weapons. Those guys all balled out at times.

But again, could never get by USC or win a good bowl game. If I remember correctly, he was on the cover of SI to start off the 2006 season. Weeks later I was sweating in the 4th at Georgia Tech and then the following week got nuked buy Michigan. All this when 2006 was supposed to be ND's year. So the stats are there, but he did NOTHING close to beating UGA in the Sugar Bowl or PSU in the Orange.
I attended that game vs Michigan at ND. I think the first or second play, he threw a pick 6. ND was ranked top 5 if I remember right. Was a bummer of a trip

That's my feeling. It's hard for me to grade all three QBs because they all brought something a little different to the table. I still probably put Quinn first, because his defense wasn't as good as the one that was backing Leonard this year (At least when they were healthy). Leonard had the more complete team, the biggest weakness we had was at WR. If you put Quinn on this team I think we win it all, even with the WR issues because Quinn's arm would keep defenses more honest and allow the running game to flourish.

I'd have to go Quinn > Leonard = Book.
I can't rank Leonard or Book over each other because Book did get to the playoffs twice with inferior teams and played some gutsy games against a #1 Clemson squad and LSU. Book was there for 4 years to Leonard's 1.

If it is who is better, Quinn going away by a mile. I will just remember Leonard better due to winning the big games.
Yeah Quinn was a better quarterback, objectively speaking, he just didn’t win the big games because our defense in those years was rough.

The defense this year helped get Leonard to the bigger stage, and once there he played his balls off (minus the picks vs Penn State). But he just isn’t the thrower that Quinn was and that is the most important part of the job.

He's a tough guy and I believe it when people say he's a great leader. He did a great job taking care of the ball and showed improvement as a QB almost every week. ND does not make it to the championship game without him and I'm glad I got to root for him.

Quinn did not have the running backs like we have. Can’t remember Walker making more than a 25 yard run and if he did he was finishing it by running out of bounds. Quinn made the rest of the offense better. He was garbage his first year under Willingham. If Leonard had two more years Book wouldn’t even be mentioned. He was terrible against the best teams. He was a journeyman QB but a scrappy one.

Yup. Quinn often did enough to win the big games, games like USC in 2005. Just like Leonard, he put the team on his back at times to win that game. On the final play Weis said something to Quinn, I can't remember what it was, but he called his own number and ran it in on a QB Draw to put us up. That should have been the end of it, but we gave up the long pass on a 4th down (Surprise surprise) and the rest is history. Quinn similarly did enough to beat OSU in the Fiesta Bowl, but the defense gave up over 500 yards and we lost that one too.

Was Tebow really a better passer than him?
I was gonna say for sure, looking at their stats though their final season passing numbers are nearly identical. It’s actually pretty crazy.

So are their rushing numbers.

Would be beautiful. But sadly the water in South Bend makes offensive coaches delete the play action plays from their call sheets.
Us at IE really took our foot off the gas this year. Last year we bullied the media into asking about play action and they finally started running it in the Pitt game. This is on us, we gotta be on point even when we’re whomping teams. The lack of PA this year with how well we ran the ball was surprising to say the least.
