Just a reminder drew pyne threw for 22 touchdowns in 10 games
This was a problem back in 2022. I think it’s just a skill problem. Is his footwork fucked because he's not totally healed?
He had a fairly serious injury less than a year ago and another surgery on top of it. He's obviously cleared medically, but is there something else lingered there? Is it mental?

But to JamIrish’s point. He’s going to have a huge game in here somewhere and everyone will going back to forgetting this is a problem, until it happens again.
Smart. If they start winning that leaves you the option to come back around and admittedly love all the good things the team is doing. And with that im done with this team and this coach for at least a few weeks
Leonard has played relatively little football in the last 12 months. Five healthy games last year, three of them against tomato cans. Then he missed spring ball (tho Northwestern was probably better than NIU is). And he had accuracy issues before he got hurt.Is his footwork fucked because he's not totally healed?

I wanted Cam WardI wanted Will Howard BTW
His sophomore year numbers were pretty stellar.Leonard has played relatively little football in the last 12 months. Five healthy games last year, three of them against tomato cans. Maybe what we're seeing now shouldn't be surprising; maybe what's surprising is that we (and especially the coaching staff) didn't see this coming.
Entirely plausible. But based on QB play the last time we had a decent one was 2015Is it possible that Gino is not a great QB coach?
Bonus points for tomato cans.Leonard has played relatively little football in the last 12 months. Five healthy games last year, three of them against tomato cans. Then he missed spring ball (tho Northwestern was probably better than NIU is). And he had accuracy issues before he got hurt.

This is not meant to come off as snarky, bear with me: the fact that our current starter is so bad that we are discussing hypothetically going after Kyle McCord is bottom of the barrel bad.Imagine if they had paid for McCord instead? I wonder if he was even a possibility?
No snark at all; I 100% agree. I guess it was more of a hindsight observation that McCord transferred to Syracuse out of all places and perhaps could have been a better target/fit here. This is not meant to come off as snarky, bear with me: the fact that our current starter is so bad that we are discussing hypothetically going after Kyle McCord is bottom of the barrel bad.
I wholeheartedly agree with you that McCord appears to be better, but we did, and absolutely should have, aimed higher than him in the portal.
Honestly, just stop chasing the portal guys. Hindsight is 20/20, but imagine where we'd be if we stuck with Angeli or had an open QB competition with him, Minchey & Carr. We were all fooled by Riley (so far). I don't think anyone can convince me that we would've lost to aTm with Angeli, who likely would've hit a few more passes to offset the plays Riley made with his legs.
Yeah, the ceiling on our season, or at least the perception of our season's ceiling, would've been lower if we didn't land Leonard. But we'd also be 2-0 right now, more than likely.
How can you possibly know? If anyone is going to tell us that it would be Minchey and Carr. What do Hartman and Leonard tell us about Gino? He's been at ND since last season and is on his second ACC portal QB and second OC.Is it possible that Gino is not a great QB coach?
Whatever he's getting in NIL, its not costing them as much as it would for this season to go off the rails.Over his last 9 starts going back to the start of last year, Riley Leonard:
Has completed 133 of 227 pass attempts (an atrocious 58%)
Has thrown only 3 TD passes
Has thrown 5 interceptions
Saturday wasn't a fluke. That is who he is as a QB. If Freeman cannot see that it is time to move on to another QB then it may be time for Notre Dame to move on from Marcus Freeman. The only other FBS teams to not have a passing TD yet this season are Miami of Ohio, Northwestern, Air Force, and Western Michigan. That is the tier the passing game is on with Riley at QB.
It’s not even like they’re just status quo from their prior posting…they’re worse lol.Ryan Day & OSU preferred Riley to Will Howard. Bama tried to steal Sam Hartman.
I like Gino, but really have to wonder with him after these two transfers.
Hartman was 24 years old when he got to ND.It’s not even like they’re just status quo from their prior posting…they’re worse lol.
Haha holy shit, 3 TDs in 9 starts is insanely badOver his last 9 starts going back to the start of last year, Riley Leonard:

A TD:INT ratio of infinity would be incredible. I would love that. What we have is a TD:INT ratio of 0.Do you think it’s good when our quarterback’s TD:INT ratio is infinity?
NumbersGuy coming in hot to answer our math questions. LOLA TD:INT ratio of infinity would be incredible. I would love that. What we have is a TD:INT ratio of 0.
