I appreciate my fellow Irish fans’ optimism with Angeli and Minchey’s play, but we’re losing 3+ games this year with those two as our starting QB. And frankly, with this year’s schedule, that is unacceptable. Angeli’s mop up time against an abysmal PItt team and going against Oregon State’s walk-ons was great and all, but like Hartman, we got Riley for a reason. He needs to get healthy. He needs to play.
Good thing Leonard is the type of QB who doesn't need to rely on his legs. 🤣

3+ losses with either of those two is excessive, come off the ledge. We're returning a fantastic defense, we've upgraded at WR and a huge upgrade at OC, and we've got a very strong backfield. There's question marks at OL, but there's talent there and I expect Denbrock figures it out. The schedule is super favorable. Even with Angeli at QB the only game that gives me pause is A&M because it's an early game that will probably be at night in a hostile environment. I don't expect Florida State to be quite as good as last year and if it's cold again they'll struggle. I don't see Louisville getting the jump on us again with this matchup at home and following Miami Ohio. A Caleb William-less USC doesn't particularly scare me unless they make a major turn around on defense in a year. I'm not incredibly sold on Leonard yet personally, I think he's good but I don't think he's the difference between us going 12-0 and having 3+ losses.

Is it excessive? Is it? Just looking at the schedule, A&M, FSU, USC, and possibly Louisville. All right there…

But USC and FSU won’t be as good, they’re replacing their QBs. Well, yeah, we’d be playing our backups (Angeli / Minchey). We also wouldn’t be as good…Indeed we do have a strong backfield. That said, we’ve got questions marks for who is going to be lining up and blocking for it. And, for the WR part, at this point, ND is going to have to prove that to me before I buy in. When was the last time we’ve have a 1,000 yard single-season WR? Fuller? Floyd or perhaps TJ Jones? I can’t think of anyone after Will Fuller. It’s been a decade…

Has Leonard already won the job?

This year, with the schedule, and our returning starters, transfers and coaches, the team has us primed to make some real noise. I’m very optimistic, but we’ve got to have strong QB play. We’ve got to have a healthy RL

Your previous posts don't give me that kind of vibe.

Well, it’s dependent upon our QB play. We’ve got a very favorable schedule sprinkled with some tough games here and there. We’ve got a lot of talent returning, but make no mistake, we must have RL as QB — kind of an important role for the team ….

Would you truly feel comfortable betting on Angeli or Minchey navigating this schedule and leading us to the CFB Playoffs? Evidently the coaching staff didn’t. Hence the need for RL.

True but now they’re faced with that possibility. Remember 1993? Ron Powlus was supposed to be the next Heisman winning QB and would start immediately as a true fresh at ND until he separated his shoulder in practice. Holtz had no option other than Kevin McDougal.

Can’t wait to see you on the sidelines
Please say hello Mr. Wise. It's unfortunate about Leonard's injury, but I am not sold on Leonard yet. Angeli has been in the program.

When will you be on the sidelines?

IMO Angeli is much better than being given credit for. He's shown he has it between the ears and that is more important than the ability to run or have a cannon for an arm. One reason Leonard was brought in was his wheels to open up the offense.

Lots of love for Angeli yet I feel ND can do so much more at that position.
