Standings update below. Not much to note except for two things: @bobbyok1 picked up his third point of the season and joins a growing and very crowded group in second place at three points. That group now has 22 people, all one point back from our co-leaders.

Second, I'd like to apologize to my loyal fans for me accidentally breaking my losing streak last week. A lot of hard work went into avoiding these correct predictions but unfortunately, I slipped up and have gained my first point. All I can do is strive to do worse moving forward.

(Also S/O to @dad4aa, @Fbolt, @Irish in Ohio @NDBoiler and @slick7410 for picking up their first points, as well). Don't call it a comeback!

I believe ND will come into this game locked in and ready to go. They'll weather the storm of energy and hype early, with Gameday on site and an excited crowd at kickoff, but nothing a quick stop or turnover can't dispel.

After hearing about how good this run D is (against suspect competition - 89th (!) in SOS & 34th in SOR), Love and the OL make a statement and break the game open early with a long TD run from midfield. Crowd gets silenced quick. ND is up two scores by halftime.

Notre Dame - 38
Pitt - 17

ETA: I'm not really sure why so many people are "nervous" about this game; based on the models, Pitt is much closer to Arkansas (Pitt #33, Arkansas #41) than our top opponents on the schedule. USC is #10, Miami #13 and A&M is #7. That is quite a gap. We are the better football team. I wouldn't have predicted Gameday showing up for this one vs. OU/Bama or TX/UGA, but here we are. That should get the boys attention. No "trap" effect if you're literally in the nation's spotlight.

Based on that, if you can't beat Pitt, or even fear Pitt...ND isn't a CFP caliber team.

TL;DR: It doesn't have to be close. ND is the better team in all facets (maybe not kicking). Go Irish. Beat Pitt.

Regardless of what Nardz says, this is Pitt's SB game. Pitt plays spirited and tough before the Irish push the lead to 14 in the second half to win.

ND is gonna roll. Pitt's O isn't as good as it has seemed, and they won't be able to stop both the run AND pass on D. They have a CB with gaudy numbers, but he won't be enough.

ND by 4 scores.

Four field goals? Wait, that in itself would be miraculous.

Schmidt with another field goal as time expires for the win.
Then ND deserves to be NO WHERE near the playoffs. If you cant handle a ACC windbag like Pitt, you aint running with the big boys.

This one is in the bag. I dreamt ND lost 35-34 last night. ND always rolls when I dream of them losing. Kenny Minchey gets more playing time tomorrow.

Heintzel passes the eye test, quick vs the rush can make the short and intermediate throws like the veteran he isn’t. But FOUR turnovers vs Stanford (two fumbles two interceptions) . Big problem.

ND scores touchdowns on half their possessions (5/10) and misses another short field goal to keep us all shaking our heads. Pitt hasn't played a team close to what they'll see in ND, but Ash continues to dare teams to throw the ball knowing we're going to get our hands on a few.

ND - 35
Pitt - 20

Gee I wonder why Gameday wants to cover a Pitt game? Only reason they’re there is ND and Freeman are there and they get to cover this game on their network. If this were at south bend they wouldn’t be there. When ND is relevant Gameday should be there at least once a year.

Sorry. I had this as one of our "what the fuck loses" at the beginning of the year. I'm sticking to it.

Garbage time Pitt TD makes it seem quasi- respectable.
