Was BYU chirping about Notre Dame this week? Am I remembering that correctly?

Yeah seriously. Can anyone explain the OL regression to me? We lost no one to the draft and the only guys who left were pushed out. Why do we look so much softer inside?
I feel like this is 90% rose colored glasses re last years line. It was good but I don’t remember it being an unstoppable force…RL’s mobility made it seem much better than it was.

First time watching Mendoza carefully this year. Can see what people like about him but he seems very gettable on heavy pass rush.

Letting Coogan leave and not guaranteeing him the starting center position to me was the biggest miss of the offseason.
Agree. Loved his film coming out of hs. Kid has a nasty steak and loved knocking the crap out of people. Prister insinuated they were
dirty hits. All looked good to me. Really wish he would have stayed.

Last years OL was really not that great against good defenses. Love + Price + Riley in short yardage saved us.

Also Penn States been getting a ton of pressure through the middle this game, IU’s qb is just really good at moving the pocket and getting away from the rush.
Yes, I definitely was alluding more to the rushing game is where I see the biggest improvements in IU and regression by ND. I would also say ND might be moderately better at pass protection. Carr definitely doesn’t need to scramble nearly as much as Leonard, but that could just be Carr identifying open receivers faster too.

earlier in the game he was getting yards with his legs on blitzes (the first touchdown being the best example) but Penn State seems to have adjusted.

Not blown away but I do think his mobility has stopped this from being a PSU sack party type day.

People acting like our OL is a wet paper towel here. Didn’t they give up like 2 official pressures last week? CJ has been mostly upright every game. There’s been some concerns about short yardage. But I feel like a lot of that can be due to Denbrock more than OL. He tries to mash it up the middle. I’d love to see him go 4 wide and RPO or something (appropriate time for RPO, not first game at Miami).

BYU is very mediocre, this will end any playoffs hope for them. Tech defense is great but the offense is clunky.

Sorry what I mean is that he seems to not have a good feel for pressure particularly from the left side. Lots of times this game where he is putting himself om danger by holding on to the ball too long and not feeling the blindside pressure. His size helps him a lot with that though, because he's able to power through a lot of contact.

Looks like Indiana’s offense struggles against athletic defenses due to a lack of explosive playmakers.

Seems like every attempted deep ball today has had a dude from Penn State right in the receivers hip pocket with no separation.

Last year's line was way worse in pass pro than this years. Big difference in short yardage is the QB as a runner it isn't that hard to figure out. You are adding a hat in the blocking scheme

I’m not sure guaranteeing a starting position is ever a good idea.
I didn’t mean it exactly like that. I meant you pay him the money to keep him and tell him the position is his if keeps up the effort and play that got him to where he was. It is my understanding that is not how it went and they basically told him he was already passed by.

BYU finally gets on the board with 7 and a half minutes remaining in the game
