The only thing im seeing so far that gives me some "oh no" vibes is Prister saying he agrees with the analysis that this was an MF decision and "not all were in agreement"

that doesnt make me feel awesome
To me, it really depends on who was against it. If its Denbrock, then that's bad. If its Geno or some of the auxiliary staff, I don't care that much. If anything, I would be kind of surprised if Geno wasn't for Carr just because Carr might have the higher upside as a pure passer, which, if he hits his ceiling, would make Geno look much better for other jobs than just going with another safe, but lower upside option.

To me it really doesn’t change the outlook on the 2025 season, like at all. There is a feeling that Carr being like a 2 year starter stud 1st round pick might be gone though to be disappointed in

Regardless whose QB I don’t think either will have a long leash the coaches won’t make the same mistakes like last year not pulling Leonard against NIU

Hopefully Minch has improved a lot since that Blue Gold game because he wasn’t good.

This is what I said in the moment:

“Minchey: He was much more decisive then I expected. Solid arm. Made some quick reads and throws, though some were inaccurate. Two really nice dimes to Burress. Fair amount of RPO Read stuff which he for the most part made the right read but got stuffed on his pulls sometimes, might be better credit to the D then a bad decision. There were some “you’re not allowed to scramble” plays it felt like and he took a sack once, threw into coverage a few times. Might have taken the most deep shots and they were around the WR but I wouldn’t call great placement, best throw was a seam throw to Larsen. Saw a solid QB, don’t think I saw our starter.”

Who on this forum is more informed or knowledgeable of which QB is best to start anyway??? The Backfield is going to determine ND's best shot at the Playoffs anyway.

First person please throw the stone that hasn't trust MFMF......

Fully feels like carr was turning it over too much and freeman for as great of a coach as he is is crazy conservative
I don't know about conservative, as often as he likes to go for it on 4th down. (Which I love when it works)

Apologies as I’ve tried to read through the last few pages and pinpoint where or by whom the “announcement” of the starting QB was. Is this official, semi-official, conjecture, or just the regular, everyday overreaction to a practice highlight video?

Nothing official, message board chatter and some insider posting that MFMF announced it to the team yesterday

Also John Brice practically confirming it without saying the exact words.

“Minchey is in an enviable position heading into Sunday’s scrimmage.”

You could interpret that as “Minchey is just ahead right now” but the timing of this statement immediately after all the rumors this morning make me think they definitely know it’s a done deal.

Yeah I just rewatched. Yuck

I say this as a Carr fan, Spring Game doesn't mean shit and never did. Look at Kizer, he was QB #3 after the Spring Game in 2015 and he was contemplating quitting football because he stunk the joint up at the time. Golson transfers, Zaire gets hurt, and Kizer connected with Fuller to create a crazy tandem which he parlay'd into the Draft as a 2nd round pick after playing one more season. For every Junior Jabbie Spring Game star there's a Kizer that turns it on in the regular season.

Could be his exposure to Jim Tressel.

I don't get where this sudden narrative that Freeman is a Tressel ball coach comes from. The guy plays heavy risk/reward defensive schemes that put corners on islands, loves trick plays on special teams, loves going for it on 4th down even in his own territory, and has made no bones that he wants to beat teams badly if he can. His entire mantra is "challenge everything."

BK was the conservative one. His whole strategy post 2016 was "I'm going to get up by 10-14 points and then turtle up because I don't think you can score". (Which is fine, but definitely more conservative than how Freeman coaches.)

I absolutely love the way he coaches! It is a lot of fun.
