Obviously you got "value" by betting it now before it's announced. Still throwing money away. Our QB will not win the Heisman. ZERO chance. We won't pass it enough to accumulate the stats and PLUS everyone will believe that he won't even be the best player on ND's offense.

It's totally irrational and he has a slim to none chance, but he has a better chance now than he did 30 minutes ago. As someone who doesn't gamble really anymore or ever play the lottery, I will gladly put $25 behind my QB I can blindly cheer for.

I feel like there's going to be a lot of after-the-fact sunshine pumping about this outcome, and I hope its all correct. That being said...

Up to this point the reporting has never been that Minchey is looking spectacular, only that the staff was waiting for Carr to seize the job and he wasn't doing that. Also every camp sighting has been consistent that Carr has the better arm to the point that the II guys said that their "ceiling"for ND football over the next few years would include a few more losses if Carr wound up losing the job to Minchey. I'm pretty concerned.

All that being said, don't take that as me trashing Kenny. I think its awesome for him personally that he went from presumed No. 3 to the top dog, and I'll never hate on a kid for making himself the best option we have at a position. Its just concerning that AGAIN the guy who's time it is to step into the leading role gets upstaged by a recruit with less pedigree.

If Minchey wins, I honestly think it's just the athleticism component + "fit"... Minchey isn't some dynamite athlete but he is good enough in the QB run game that you have to respect him. Leonard was listed at 6'4" 216 and Minchey is 6'2" (this might be a bit overstated) / 208. He's big enough / fast enough to do some of the things we did last year while also being a more accurate passer. And we had a top offense last year thanks to being able to run the ball down people's throats. Our passing game was non-functional for large stretches and we still blew out most teams over the latter half of the season.
If having a QB run option is so important to a Denbrock offense, then I have not one single clue why Grubbs is in the class.

If it isn't Kenny, I shouldn't be surprised. Marcus has always been more Tressel ball than not. And it worked well for Tressel and Freeman so far. We shall see. I trust the coaches to put us in the best position to win.

This is probably the best comp. He's like a Troy Smith more than a Jayden Daniels. I think Minchey is "good enough" as a passer and probably runs like a 4.7 40.

It’s pretty obvious Freeman is not a fan of gunslingers and doesn’t have a tolerance for turnover risk with his QBs. Not sure it comes down to anything more than Minchey just protecting the ball better.
In general, having a massively front loaded schedule is not idea for breaking in brand new starters and trying to minimize risk + play to strengths @ Miami seems like a reasonable course of action.

Merk didn't delete his profile. Guy wanted to stop being followed everywhere so he had us delete a bunch of former posts that would trace back to him. That was in the works days ago.

He's still around but didn't want to be brought up constantly.

I'm expecting something like Everett Golson where he's pretty mobile but not a true running threat

Best case scenario this is it and Carr stays engaged.

It gives the offense another lever to pull with the QB run game in two massive games to start the year.

Totally reasonable given how awful he was being treated here.
