No one should be rooting for the SEC in any fashion.

The all great and powerful SEC is down to one team. A coachless team who’s remaining staff might get forced to leave for LSU. And who is an underdog to a 10-seed Miami team who barely got in the playoffs.

Miami deserved to be in. Their body of work speaks for itself. Wins over Notre Dame, Ohio State, Texas A&M. That feels gross to type.
Oklahoma and particularly Alabama didn't belong.

I’m aware and have said as much in past posts. I’m just pointing out that the committee backdoored Miami into the playoffs as a 10-seed because of their preferential treatment towards the SEC. And look how it’s played out….pretty much how every ND fan called it.

I refuse to forget that if our very good safety was fully up to speed on that one catch, he would have collided it out of there. THAT single moment is the play of the season. (I'm not "on" Shuler; he was really good for us; just not that play.)

AND, I refuse to forget that the last team to beat Indiana (and it was a clear beating) was Notre Dame. I don't give a damm if that was last playoffs, BOTH teams were better. at season's end than then.

The SEC is pretty obsessed with incestual recruiting I feel like that is a big difference between these Big Ten teams and SEC teams. SEC tampers with 5 star recruits they missed out of last year. Big Ten teams like Michigan, IU and OSU were built on age, not getting back at the other school for a HS recruitment you lost.

Notre Dame beats every team in this playoff except Indiana. Damn shame.

Sankey wanted SEVEN teams in. They should never get more than 3 going forward.

And as long Sankey has ESPN behind him, he may just get that.

Why can’t we beat Indiana? We beat them like a drum last year and while they are better this year so are we. Nothing about them scares me. Iowa and Penn state took them to the wire. We are way better than both of them. Miami looks good now and Ole Miss on offense looks very fast. We can hang with everyone and while we have some losses to a few shitty teams (NIU and Marshall) in Frans tenure we don’t lose to anyone by more than one score. Thanks to grey and out shitty kicker last year OSU is the only double digit legit loss.

Thank you for the honesty. It was more than the Auburn game.

After their Wisconsin 38-14, @Georgia 24-21, and Vandy 30-14 wins…

10/11 - W over 8-5 (4-4) @Missouri 27-24
- who was 0-5 against teams with winning records.
- lost to shitty Oklahoma by 11
- lost by 21 to A&M at home
Their 4 SEC wins? S Carolina 4-8(1-7) by 9, Auburn 5-7(1-7) by 6 in double OT, Miss St 5-7(1-7) by 22, Arkansas 2-10(0-8) by 14.
Their 4 OOC wins? FCS Central Arkansas 3-9, Kansas 5-7(3-6), Louisiana 6-7…who started the year 2-6, and the worst team in FBS UMass 0-12 who lost to 3-9 FCS Bryant.

10/18 - W over 8-5 (4-4) Tennessee 37-20
- only win against a team with a winning record was their FCS game….
- lost to shitty Oklahoma by 6 at home
- lost by 21 to Vandy at home
Their SEC wins? Miss St 5-7(1-7) in OT, Arkansas 2-10(0-8) by 3 at home, Kentucky 5-7(2-6), Florida 4-8(2-6)
Their OOC wins? Syracuse 3-9(1-7), FCS ETSU 7-5, UAB 4-8, New Mexico St 4-8

10/25 - W over 4-8 (1-7) @South Carolina 29-22
11/8 - W over 7-6 (3-5) LSU 20-9
- who just fired their coach and D coordinator
11/15 - L to 10-3 (6-3) Oklahoma 23-21
11/22 - W over FCS 3-9 Eastern Illinois - game shouldn’t count as a Win
11/29 - W over 5-7 (1-7) @Auburn 27-20
12-6 - L to 12-2 Georgia in SEC title 28-7

Especially the last 6 games going 3-2-1 FCS non counter. Ugh.
Don’t let facts ruin a good story for Paul Finebaum and ESPN.

You sound like Alabama fans before yesterday. I didn't say Indiana would boat race ND. ND is better than Alabama. Indiana would win like they did against Oregon. 10 points.

Is there a gag order on anyone affiliated with espn on criticizing post mortem how this further proves ND got screwed and not by the Miami pick but allowing Ok and Bama to sit above us in the polls. No one is saying anything about this. They are lightly talking about the four teams that weren’t playoff caliber but not saying jack shit about how ND being out has screwed everything up. Ticket sales and TV viewership got jacked because of this. What a bunch of punks.

That’s fine. So we will kick the shit out of the national champs next year at home. Gonna be sweet!

They have a lot of players leaving so it might happen. But a lot of people that that would happen this year.

As far as OSU last year - after they waxed TN at home and started actual playing to their ability, and then followed it up with the obliteration of Oregon, the next 2 against UT and us were seen as formalities to a lot of folks at the time. Oregon and IU are good teams this year, but not in the same stratosphere as that OSU team when they put it together.
I think Indiana’s in kind of a similar spot right now, yeah? Have already beat Oregon, beat Ohio State, and just absolutely demolished Alabama, and don’t have the flukey losses as resume blemishes? (Though arguably the close Penn state win should count as one).

It’s just that nobody believes they’re as good as their onfield results suggest they are.

IU appears to have better coaching than ND. They weren't unprepared in their big games. I wouldn't have been confident playing them this year, although it would have been a 50/50 type game.

If we would have played mid-late in this season we'd win most of a ten game series.

I still believe watching our wildly dynamic ability to just explode in teams' faces in MANY ways, that we were the best by that time of the year against anybody. By year's end, we were the badasses. Carr was the major key but Ash getting his sh!t together was equally a big deal. (Hell, gentlemen, we had TWO CONSENSUS All-Americans, one on each side of the ball, the best RBs in the country by far, and the best DBackfield in the country. No one wanted to play either part of that.)

There were 7-8 teams this year that could hypothetically win the championship because of blend of offense + defense. It was Indiana, Ohio State, Oregon in a Tier 1A. Then Notre Dame, Georgia, Texas Tech, Miami in Tier 1B. Ole Miss had a horrible defense for most of the year but has been improving sans Kiffin and is right in that 1B mix now.

So the committee got in 7 of those 8 teams and 4 of them in Semifinals. The only travesty was Alabama. They are 20th (!!!) in SP+. Oklahoma is 14th. Neither team was every going to be competitive in the playoffs and neither team really should've been in but I understand how Oklahoma basically had to be in on resume with how hard their SOS was. They got very lucky multiple times but they did win the games.

For my money, I think Oregon wins it all. Always hard to beat a team twice. Whoever wins the Indiana/Oregon game will be a significant favorite over the Ole Miss/Miami winner.

I think it’s really impossible to know how good TT actually is because they never played a similarity talented team until the playoff and got waxed.

My current tiers would be:

1 - IU, OSU

2- Oregon, ND, Miami

3 - UGA, TT, Ole Miss, A&M

TT's defense was legit top 5 in the country IMO. I think we learned that their offense had no ability to compete against a real team, so maybe they weren't legit contenders.

They held Oregon to 16 points on 11 drives and 25 yards per drive which is kinda crazy considering the Ducks have the #7 rated offense in the country.

Texas Tech's defense was indeed quite good but even in the Big 12 title game their offense looked shaky, at least until the defense locked down BYU in the second half. They certainly deserved a playoff spot, but Top 4 always felt optimistic.

I did not watch the Georgia-Ole Miss game last night but what I saw of them against Bama and in the second half of the Texas game had me thinking they might be the most dangerous team in the tournament.

Updated Sargarin - Bama at 15, OU at 18, ND at 4.

Disgusting.
While we as fans shouldn’t care where ND finishes in any final polls, it will be telling to see if they “punish” ND for not playing a bowl or if they feel strongly enough to bump them over CFP teams that clearly were outclassed in the playoff. My bet is the former but I’d love to be surprised.
