Hart going through the Combine and seeing his stock go up is not much of a surprise to any ND fans, is it?

No, and I thought the shoulder injuries were overblown. People like O’Malley acted as if Hart had multiple ACL tears or concussions.

Well, NFL is more physical and with more games, I don't see it as a knock but the realization he may not be available for a few games per year.

Not for nothing, but he played in 13 games in 2021, 11 games in 2022 and 12 games in 2023. Not terrible in my estimation, and in some of his scouting reports any durability concerns are not even called into question. He started 32 games in college.

With his height, I think the biggest concern is going to be fluid transition against smaller faster NFL receivers running more sophisticated and complex routes.

Apart from that, though, Cam Hart is a guy who can find his way onto an NFL roster and stay there for a while. Very useful help.

Recurring shoulder injuries are a big deal, that and his age likely pushes him to mid-round from maybe a 2nd rounder.

The buzz after The Combine seems to be that Harrison, Odzune and Nabers may all go off the board quicker than what was once thought. The Chargers reportedly want to move back and get more picks, so their fifth overall could be on the market.

The mockfather Mel Kiper Jr is new Board goofin on the ESPN.com in an Insider Exclusive post combine big board update.

You think your board is big pshaw!

Overall:
8. Joe Alt, OT, Notre Dame
6-8, 321 pounds | Previously: 6

Alt started 33 games at left tackle for the Fighting Irish, and I was most impressed by his technique on a snap-to-snap basis. He rarely gets caught out. He mirrors well in pass protection, adjusting easily to secondary moves from edge rushers. He does a great job keeping his huge frame between the defender and his quarterback. In his career, he allowed just 16 total pressures in more than 1,000 pass-block snaps.

Alt's father, John, was a first-round offensive tackle, too, going No. 21 overall to the Chiefs in 1984. He was 6-7, 275 pounds when he entered the NFL, which shows you how the game has changed since then.

Running backs

8. Audric Estime, Notre Dame (oof)

Off-ball linebackers

8. Marist Liufau, Notre Dame
10. JD Bertrand, Notre Dame

Kickers and Punters

10. Spencer Shrader, Notre Dame (K)

I've gotten the impression that some of the Brock Bowers hype has really quieted down a bit.

I just think it would be difficult to pass up some of these OT to take Bowers instead.

The Athletic had a mock in which he fell all the way to the Bengals at #18.

Alt is such a risk free pick. There’s almost no chance he’ll suck.
A GM who has a track record of draft busts will be severely tempted to make the safe pick

Steelers traded Pickett to Eagles...he didn't want to sit behind an old man but he's fine sitting behind a young one?

They can try, but it would appear that the current top three have cleared the way for themselves to draft quarterbacks.

As a Bears fan, I would love to see Minnesota reach and draft McCarthy stupid early.

In fact, I'd give them the 1.09 for their 1.11 and 1.23 lol

JJ McCarthy in Minnesota for a good decade would be just perfect for all parties.

I don't think he's nearly as "mid" as Irish fans speak of but he isn't a starting NFL QB on an above .500 team.

I can’t tell if the JJ McCarthy smoke is real or not.

It feels like a Zach Wilson situation. A team trading up into the top 5 to grab him seems incredibly foolish and that GM will probably be unemployed in <2 years after the draft.
It's real and not surprising at all. It's all about projection with these guys and McCarthy is 10x the QB prospect that Zach Wilson was (whom I didn't like, but did like Trey Lance and JF so what do I know? Being wrong is a great chance to learn).
It does seem foolish, but sometimes in order to keep the job for those next 1-2 years, the GM has to draft a QB. I believe I do see what they see - a guy with a very good chance to develop into a good NFL starter and leader (they fell in love with Darnold in the locker room), but agree that he's got just as much chance to bust as a top 10 pick. It's going to take some time for him and the GM that takes him top 10 likely won't be around for that. His floor seems to be team-first, veteran backup. Upside? Current Baker Mayfield?

The ESPN.com has an Insider exclusive 7 Round, that's right 7 Round mockage up from Matt Miller!

They mock what they don't understand

7. Tennessee Titans

Joe Alt, OT, Notre Dame

After allowing 64 sacks last season (fourth most in the league), it is time for the Titans to figure out a new starting five on the offensive line. Lloyd Cushenberry was added at center, but the left tackle spot is absent of starting-level talent and Andre Dillard is gone after one season. Alt started 33 games in college and allowed just six sacks -- including only two in the past two seasons. He was also only penalized five times in college. He's pro-ready with great length and impressive mobility at 6-foot-9. His run blocking isn't always full of pancake blocks, but Alt is a finisher with fantastic Day 1 ability and upside.

RD 3 97. Cincinnati Bengals*

Blake Fisher, OT, Notre Dame

Even after signing Trent Brown, the Bengals have to think long-term about the offensive line. Fisher's footwork can get a little heavy, but his punch and power help him project as a potential starting right tackle.

RD 4
112. Las Vegas Raiders:
Audric Estime, RB, Notre Dame
118. Seattle Seahawks: Cam Hart, CB, Notre Dame
129. Minnesota Vikings (via DET): Javontae Jean-Baptiste, DE, Notre Dame

RD 5
136. Denver Broncos (via CAR/CLE):
Marist Liufau, LB, Notre Dame

RD 7
239. New Orleans Saints (via LAR/DEN):
JD Bertrand, LB, Notre Dame

BK just casually spoiling his QB’s destination. I suppose it was always gonna be WSH or NE anyways but still kinda funny.

Fisher to Pittsburgh might be a reality, if they don’t go OT in the first round. I don’t think he’s a plug and play, but he could be a nice value pick in time.

Harper at 41 seems way too low.
