It’s frustrating to me because some of these teams (looking at you PSU) are only ranked there based on preseason hype/polls/bs. The CFP poll was supposed to be better because they can look at 8 games and say this is what you earned.

I don’t mind ND being at 10, but PSU at 6 is horseshit.

I don’t understand why PSU is ranked ahead of IU……..neither one has a win against a ranked team, PSU has a loss and IU’s victories have been much more impressive.
The only thing I can think of is that the CFP thinks very highly of SC, who by many advanced metrics is a top 20 to 25 team.

Looks to me like they have tried to set it up in a way that there will be 3 Big Ten and SEC schools in.

As long as you have committees deciding who makes a playoff, you will have bias. Much of this is based on the history of the program which is why Bama will somehow sneak in with 2 or 3 losses. It’s also why pro sports are superior in this regard. Everything settled on the field. Will still be a fun playoff, regardless.

If OSU runs the table and loses to Oregon again, PSU runs the table and IU has one loss to OSU it'll be interesting to see what the committee does. I doubt they keep OSU at 5 with two losses but I can't see them bumping PSU or IU over them. Maybe it opens up 5 for ND.
Given IU's FB history, I wonder if they will be treated similar to Navy if they lose a game?

We ranked you because you're undefeated. Oh, you lost to Notre Dame? We knew you were a fraud. No more rankings for you.

In fairness, Navy was a fraud. They just lost to Rice, and it really wasn't as close as the score.

Yeah, that's kind of my point. IU's schedule is more difficult, but it's still been a relatively easy schedule. scUM and OSU will give us a better idea of who they are.
Actually, to date, technically Navy has the tougher SOS at 90. IU is ranked 103, which is the worst in the FBS.

But i agree with you we will find out who IU really is in the next few weeks. They will probably roll scUM, but I doubt they beat pOSU.

Good list. I'd add Miami @ GT, and Indiana vs UM as possible ones to watch. Is GT's main QB back?

Oregon and Miami (FL) are locks to go undefeated, IMO. Nobody is touching them on their remaining schedules.

Boise is basically a lock from the G5.

Bolded the Miami/GT game but no info on if King will play or not.
Game time decision rn so I'd guess he'll play w/ GT coming off a BYE but not official.

Due to expanded conferences it sure feels as though schedules have gotten weaker.

This is hardly definitive, however, looking at the 2014 AP rankings (arbitrarily chosen for being 10 years ago) prior to conference championships and bowl games (November 30), those 25 teams were collectively 239-57 between them. Right now the CFP top 25 is 178-30. I wonder if I will remember to check back in on this and see where it stands at the end of the regular season.

Real possibility that the Hurryin' Losers could drop both Mich and OSU. Any loss should drop below ND
Miami with that cupcake schedule. Jeez what a ho-hummer
Penn St is flippin incredible. Dont know how they can remotely look in the mirror with that schedule
Tennessee drops to GA. That should put them behind ND
Bama has a real shot of losing to LSU
BYU....just dont have words. Play no one all year and still make the playoffs.

ND just needs to wreck USC. Anything less than a complete railroad is unacceptable. Just a little concerned that they wont. USCs talent COULD show up and ruin the dance if they actually decide to want to play that day...

I think at 11-1, were in no matter what. But, to get a home game, we've got to hope for at least two "massive upsets" for teams ahead of us, in addition to the head to heads where someone will lose (Tenn, Indiana).

I'm worried Bama will jump us, because Bama.

If we get in, I hope we play PSU so we can expose those frauds, even if it's at their place.
