I pretty much agree with everything except Penn St at 6th. Their resume is more in line with 12th
I don’t understand why PSU is ranked ahead of IU……..neither one has a win against a ranked team, PSU has a loss and IU’s victories have been much more impressive.I pretty much agree with everything except Penn St at 6th. Their resume is more in line with 12th
The only thing I can think of is that the CFP thinks very highly of SC, who by many advanced metrics is a top 20 to 25 team.I don’t understand why PSU is ranked ahead of IU……..neither one has a win against a ranked team, PSU has a loss and IU’s victories have been much more impressive.
Yep, and to try to get ND against UGA in the 2nd Rd.Looks to me like they have tried to set it up in a way that there will be 3 Big Ten and SEC schools in.
As long as you have committees deciding who makes a playoff, you will have bias. Much of this is based on the history of the program which is why Bama will somehow sneak in with 2 or 3 losses. It’s also why pro sports are superior in this regard. Everything settled on the field. Will still be a fun playoff, regardless. It’s frustrating to me because some of these teams (looking at you PSU) are only ranked there based on preseason hype/polls/bs. The CFP poll was supposed to be better because they can look at 8 games and say this is what you earned.
I don’t mind ND being at 10, but PSU at 6 is horseshit.
Given IU's FB history, I wonder if they will be treated similar to Navy if they lose a game?If OSU runs the table and loses to Oregon again, PSU runs the table and IU has one loss to OSU it'll be interesting to see what the committee does. I doubt they keep OSU at 5 with two losses but I can't see them bumping PSU or IU over them. Maybe it opens up 5 for ND.
In fairness, Navy was a fraud. They just lost to Rice, and it really wasn't as close as the score.Given IU's FB history, I wonder if they will be treated similar to Navy if they lose a game?
We ranked you because you're undefeated. Oh, you lost to Notre Dame? We knew you were a fraud. No more rankings for you.
They openly talk about wanting 4 guaranteed spots every year. They were (are) trying to negotiate that into the next contract.Looks to me like they have tried to set it up in a way that there will be 3 Big Ten and SEC schools in.
Should give additional focus to ND this week. Not only have to win, must dominate.
Yeah, that's kind of my point. IU's schedule is more difficult, but it's still been a relatively easy schedule. scUM and OSU will give us a better idea of who they are.In fairness, Navy was a fraud. They just lost to Rice, and it really wasn't as close as the score.
I think MF has felt that way all along. Look at the scores. He's not taking his foot off the gas.Should give additional focus to ND this week. Not only have to win, must dominate.
Considering those are the only two legitimate conferences left, seems fair.Looks to me like they have tried to set it up in a way that there will be 3 Big Ten and SEC schools in.
That's kind of why I'm not sweating Army. Look at the teams they've played. In fairness, Navy was a fraud. They just lost to Rice, and it really wasn't as close as the score.
Actually, to date, technically Navy has the tougher SOS at 90. IU is ranked 103, which is the worst in the FBS.Yeah, that's kind of my point. IU's schedule is more difficult, but it's still been a relatively easy schedule. scUM and OSU will give us a better idea of who they are.
Oregon and Miami (FL) are locks to go undefeated, IMO. Nobody is touching them on their remaining schedules.Playoff Teams Remaining Schedule:

Bolded the Miami/GT game but no info on if King will play or not.Good list. I'd add Miami @ GT, and Indiana vs UM as possible ones to watch. Is GT's main QB back?
UM could certainly win that game with UM getting a few keys backGood list. I'd add Miami @ GT, and Indiana vs UM as possible ones to watch. Is GT's main QB back?
Real possibility that the Hurryin' Losers could drop both Mich and OSU. Any loss should drop below NDPlayoff Teams Remaining Schedule:

Oregon most likely but Miami better be careful in the finale in the Carrier Dome. Syracuse is a different team at home (4-1).Oregon and Miami (FL) are locks to go undefeated, IMO. Nobody is touching them on their remaining schedules.
Boise is basically a lock from the G5.
Yeah, that Miami game at 'Cuse could be our (decent college football fans) last hope.Oregon most likely but Miami better be careful in the finale in the Carrier Dome. Syracuse is a different team at home (4-1).
OTOH, Miami winning out could get ND a very manageable round 2 opponent.Yeah, that Miami game at 'Cuse could be our (decent college football fans) last hope.
They'd prob be in the slot regardless since I expect they'll still win the ACC, but a loss would help ND move up.OTOH, Miami winning out could get ND a very manageable round 2 opponent.
