Damn…the NFL needs a salary cap so they can have some parity. Oh wait…
Until they fix their refereeing (they won't) it doesn't matter. I've never seen so much mainstream pushback and discourse about officiating favoritism as I've seen with the Chiefs this year, and it's only grown louder and louder each week. Will the NFL do anything? Of course not, they're making money hand over fist, and that's all that matters. The people who run the NFL rival only the MLB in terms of seemingly hating the sport they run.

I don’t see how anyone could watch the Chiefs and, with a straight face, that the game isn’t rigged in their favor.

Marking Josh Allen short on 4th and inches and then not overturning the call during review is terrible. It wasn’t even close.

I guess if every crew makes that call for the 31 other QBs in the league against the 31 other teams and every crew is consistent with than I guess it's ok.

That being said, I was not impressed with Buffalo's ability to get one yard last night when the play called for it. The Eagles, on the other hand, do that rugby thing and make it every time even though they have the best running back in the world at the moment.

Going directly from the TB12 Era to the Mahomes Era without any kind of ebb and flow in between is tough on neutral fans. The Chiefs are too likable too and have not yet embraced the villain role the way the Patriots eventually did. It's boring. And coming off of a College Football Playoff that was anything but boring, this makes for an even duller affair.

I guess another Chiefs Eagles Super Bowl is what America deserves though. I'll be watching Netflix.

I’ll watch the Super Bowl, but I won’t like it.

It’s the last real football for a couple months. Can’t waste it.

I get hating on the refs but this is what lost the game for Buffalo

It's a copy cat League. Everyone is running the QB sneak for a yard the exact same way. The Eagles do it best because they have four people behind Hurts Bush Pushing him into the pile. Buffalo has Allen taking a step back and to the side instead of just plowing straight forward.

They left room for doubt and the referees screwed them even when it was obvious.

At no point did the Eagles consider giving the ball to Barkley and at no point did the Bills consider giving Cook the ball.

That's the frustrating part about the ref discourse. Of course the refs/NFL don't just like straight up rig a game WWE style, but it's more like they have their thumb on the scale a bit. One can objectively say that refs didn't lose the game for Buffalo, but every team that plays the Chiefs is hiking at a steady incline, while the Chiefs are on flat ground with the wind at their backs.

To Jig's point, the Patriots were villains and relished that role, the League clearly didn't like them, I think that is why KC is pushed so hard. They want a team to replace the Patriots and weaken the legacy of Brady. The Pats, they never marketed themselves, Brady didn't start really doing any commercials until he retired, or maybe like his last year or so in Tampa, whereas the Chiefs are made up of the thirstiest fame whores I've ever seen, so they market the shit out of them.

It's all about narratives because narratives drive engagement, clicks, views, and thus ultimately: money.

It's really annoying that the first time they score over 30 points in the season is when they needed it the most. At the end of the day, they're a very good team that is very well coached. That gets boring after a while, though.

Nobody has ever won three in a row. If they do it, we'll be in the midst of history. I guess I can think of worse teams that could have accomplished it.

Not just this season, this is the first time they've scored 30 points since I believe September of 2023.

Somehow the NFL has made it so that out of all the major sports in the world, the amateur version of their sport is more watchable than the pro version. Can't say that about baseball, soccer, basketball (although the NBA is really trying hard) and hockey.

You guys watched the CFB playoff officiating and you're surprised by the NFL officiating? I think it's all part of the same thing. The rules are ambiguous enough to allow the refs to swing the call in either direction. I don't think they do it with any pre-determined purpose but it happens and it absolutely affects the game.

Having said that, the Bills played so poorly in stretches they deserved to lose as much as KC did. At least KC made the plays difficult enough to go to review.

Not a Chiefs fan.
