You dummy’s have no respect for Rees because you’re dumb. Guy runs circles around Al Golden with a limp qb

I've wondered what you add to the board, and now I know.

Funny. The story in fall camp this year was that the defense was outplaying the offense.

You don't know shit.

I’m mostly wait and see on Freeman, Rees and Holden but the one I feel best about today would be Golden,…

Given the proximity, it presented an honest outlook about the upcoming season - the defense was better than the offense.

It doesn’t quite fit Giddy’s statement of Rees “running circles around Golden”.

But we had the season. We can compare actual results not summer camp reports.

Also, In my experience defense is almost always ahead of the curve compared to offense during camp.

Personally, Card would not be a high choice for me. He seems too much like Buchner: excellent athlete, not the most accurate thrower.

I want a kid like Minchey with accuracy and touch, even if he’s not as athletic.

I think Card would kind of just add confusion to the mix.

I like Card but I'm not sure if he's the best fit for Tommy. Cade McNamara or Tyler Van Dyke (should he hit the portal) would seem to be better fits.

This is where I am at, and from albeit limited film on both. It was honestly my first reaction, he "appears" to be a TB clone w/ an over the top delivery.

IMO, if you are going to the portal, you go for a guy that is a proven game changer. I like Leary and am willing to take a chance on him coming back from injury vs. a guy we think could be good.

TVD is my #1 choice if he hits the portal. He's the perfect fit for the offense Rees wants to run.

Edit: Don't think he's going to, as it seems like Miami is going to make changes to the offensive staff. Just would love a guy like him running the offense.

In his career, with limited playing time, he's a 66% passer with 11 TDs and 2 INTs....that's pretty promising. And he's got some wheels

EDIT: And he's 6'2"!

Seems to be a consensus that Leary would be a top want, but how many people are truly considering the injury risk with him? If he's not fully healthy or gets reinjured, they're basically back to square one with injury-prone Buchner and Pyne (barring neither of them transfer). A Caleb Williams-caliber QB isn't coming to ND so imo, ND needs a stabilizer at the position. The 22 team with Coan at QB would've won 10+ games, no question. If Card can provide that kind of floor, sign me up.

Agreed, I for one would be much more content with Card than Leary for just this reason. With the margin of error so small in many ways, why increase the risk of failure by signing a guy who is a higher injury risk?

If there is a better QB we can sign in the portal then I'm all for that as well obviously. But rolling the dice on an injury risk QB makes no sense to me IF we have other solid options.

As long as an injury is not considered chronic or prolonged effect, you can’t add in fear someone might get injured again. If the diagnosis is it’ll affect him moving forward that legitimately changes things. Could it happen? Sure that would suck. But **** happens.

I think your critcisms are on point but I also think Card's problems are fixable with experience. He tends to rush a bit too much and hurry a lot of his throws, failing to set up his feet. But he doesn't seem to have any such problem on his timing throws: his footwork is great and he gets the ball out on time with accuracy and velocity.

So I'm optimistic he can be better than he's shown. I also think he's more advanced in the passing game than we saw from Buchner. Card has a tendency to miss throws or be impatient, not a tendency to just chuck the ball into coverage.

One guy has done it consistently at a pretty high level, the other is a talented question mark who isn’t a sure upgrade over what’s currently in the room. Should definitely be interesting.

You realize we are bringing in Minchey. It’s not a zero sum situation. We can have both and should take both if Card wants to come.

Honestly, the Rourke kid from Ohio was at the top of my board, but then he went and tore his ACL.

I've watched all the Card tape I can and I really don't see the Buchner comparisons at all. He's a 69.4% passer and tosses the ball effortlessly over 50 yards. He puts great touch on deep balls and wheel routes. When did we ever see Buchner put touch on a pass?
Agree. Don’t see the comparison either.

I want to get ahead of this now and share my reasonable and down-to-earth expectations on all this... whoever it is they bring in just needs to be Joe Burrow 2.0,... win the Heisman and lead the team to the Natty NEXT YEAR... or it's a complete misfire and everyone needs to be fired immediately.

Well 2+ years of eligibility, so 2 natties is the minimum or else #FreemanOut

From a mobility standpoint, I would compare Card to Book rather than Buchner.

Like Book, I think Card would run for a first down on those 3rd & 7's that can be so back breaking on a defense. Buchner has much more home run potential with his feet.
