I’m up for guessing until this weekend. I turned IB podcast off when I heard them talking about D Bowen being a funny dude.

“I did find it humorous and sad others in the industry on the ND beat tried to smear me (Loy gave me the heads up) like I'm not directly talking to Kenny. My twitter inbox is open and most of these guys have my number so they can contact me before spouting off.”

Cool. I know the podcast was pre-recorded and scheduled to play at a specific time, but it should have waited until he, Minchey, first broke the news himself. 247sports has grown as a company, they surely could have had an intern keep an eye on it in case their was some delay.

Hypothetical:

If ND lands Minchey, they’ll have landed Minchey in November and Carr in June.

If they had flipped it, landed Minchey instantly after Moore debacle in June and landed Carr in November let’s say after playing out game day visits. How differently would we view it? Even though we end in the same place

Dale are you trying to get us to admit that we’d be less harsh about Rees?

Take a walk.

In reality it won't change all the criticism, just checks a box. People are to much love or hate the guy, I am in the middle. I have complaints, but I have hope. This is an awesome get that we sorely need. Rees delivered.

This helps for sure to ease some tension on recruiting, at least it should.

Less overall drama and handwringing, but I think we would've viewed Minchey as disappointing immediately after being told for several months that we had a 5 star QB committed. So probably less anger over the last 5 months, but not as pleased as I will be with Minchey assuming they get a reasonable transfer to come in and compete.

Also we've all had three months of watching what can happen when you don't stockpile good quarterbacks, and our appreciation for a mere four-star has grown.

I wouldn't.

There should be better names available.

I'd prefer someone like Devin Leary or Sam Hartman if they go into the portal.
I definitly would take Leary over McNamara, I don't think Cade is a world beater but, 1) he's experianced 2) he was good at getting the offense into the right calls/ checks 3) he'd be a great compliment to the running O

We won't win shit with a complimentary QB. We need a great QB, a great OL, a great running game and a great defense to win a NC.

Well in lieu of getting those we could take Cade which should be a huge upgrade from DP. Cade was behind center when UM destroyed Ohio State. I think ND has the potential to have a better passing game with a good QB who can make basic throws and see over the line. Sure Hope Pyne can leave as we don’t him taking up a roster spot anymore. I think he should be able to graduate and transfer. He got to live out his dream and unless we win the next 3 games he will be a reminder of what could’ve been this year. Even with those wins we can blame him for the Stanford shit show.

So we think Tommy survives the off-season and if not how soon does he get the boot?

We can take Cade, that's fine, but I'm inclined to pump the brakes on any QB who's not the starter on his own team. Coan worked out but there's reasons most of these guys aren't playing. Also it's not a transfer vs. Pyne, it's a transfer vs. Buchner.

That said, I agree we'd be 9-1 at this point with a basically-competent P5 quarterback, which Cade is.

As for Tommy, not to derail every single thread with this debate, but if we go 9-3 and have Minchey coming in followed by Carr it's going to be hard to justify firing the guy. I still think he leaves of his own accord, for a change of scene, but giving him the boot seems unlikely.

well...we're not going to win a NC with who we currently have soooo. If it's btween McNamara or no one, I'm taking McNamara

Pyne was also under center when we beat Clemson. Does that change the narrative on his abilities?

McNamara would not be my first option, and wouldn't make the top three of the list. That being said... if the choice is him or no one, obviously I would take him. But, if it is him amongst a few other options, it would be disappointing. I can understand that he just is more talented than Pyne and that will help the offense, but if ND wants a shot at the playoffs next season, they will need to do better than McNamara.
