Looking for more DB's, love it. Wiltfong reporting that Brian Mason was on the finish line.
I mentioned the name of Spanaway (Wa.) Lake cornerback Jasiah Wagoner over the weekend, and no defensive back impressed me more. Wagoner was the only defensive back able to check Johntay Cook throughout the weekend showing speed and tight coverage on the Desoto four-star. Wagoner was in the conversation as the best overall player in attendance helping to lead Heir 7v7 to the finals. Wagoner embraced the challenge of following his opponent's best receiver on every play and stood out in a setting that isn't advantageous to defensive backs. He holds 13 early offers, but those numbers should go up this spring as Wagoner looks like a guy who could be one of the top defensive backs in the country.
Yes. Agree 100%. Gallagher is your YAC type. Greathouse is the "I can't believe he just picked up 8 yards and 3rd and 7" receiver. I would also look at Tease at a YAC slot if we recruit him there. Some of our TEs could be big slots as well. Thinking RaridonLooking at Notre Dame’s receivers targets/commits: James, Greathouse, Flores, Gallagher, Elzy, Hanafin. It made me wonder which one(s) could do damage in the slot.
The obvious top choice would be Gallagher, imo, because of his speed and what he can do in space. I also keep going back to Greathouse. He’s a bigger body, but he could definitely be a “bully” slot. JuJu Smith a great bully slot in Pittsburgh and Claypool had a lot of success lining up in the slot at Notre Dame.
Between James, Flores, Hanafin, and Elzy, Stuckey has a lot of good options for possession receivers. Greathouse seems to have the flexibility to play multiple receiver positions.
Per Loy, here’s a name to watch. Possibly as a 5th DB, 3rd S.
If he runs a 10.47 then you just take him as an athlete if you have room.Bryan Driskell and Shaun seemed to think yesterday on a podcast that we are done at CB recruiting after getting Gray and i don't see us taking another safety unless his name is Downs from Georgia
Yeah, if he has film that shows natural football skills that complement that speed then I agree. If he runs a 10.47 then you just take him as an athlete if you have room.
Really hope they're not looking at him because they're worried about Bowen...

I'd say flip King MackIt’d be shocked if they didn’t have a backup plan to Bowen. Maybe not out in the open but it seems like poor planning to expect him in the class at this stage
His film is very good for a safety prospect.Jamie U at ISD mentioned him too. He’s pretty high on him.

In Loy’s Who’s Next article below he mentions Minich again. Says that he’s expected to be offered and he likes ND to win it.

I don't know how much of a project I think he is. If rankings are to be deemed accurate then I think a low ranking can sometimes mean 1. raw and unrefined talent, a project. 2. Lack of projectable trait/s. Like lack of size, length, speed, etc. Or, 3. a combination of both. You have some room to take a project. Especially since it looks like Jason Moore, Downs, M'Pemba are going elsewhere.
Not in that update.Anyone else new?

I think Ben fits in at #2. While he has elite football speed, a 10.77 would be one of the fastest guys on our entire roster, he lacks size. Obviously, at 5'10-11, that doesn't profile as an NFL S. So, if he's not an NFL S what is he? I think 247 has this right as they have him as a low 4 star. In the right system, this is a guy that can be a quality addition to a defense. In fact, Jarrell White ended his collegiate career at 5'9-10, 200-205 and was the leading tackler from his Sniper position on Marcus Freeman's 2020 defense. Best tackler on an incredible defense but no NFL future. Hey, sign me up for that, if that is Ben's ceiling.

Isn't Jayden Bellamy about his size and projected to play Safety? To me he could be SS. I mean hell Shaun Crawford even played safety. . .Work in progress more like it than project.
