Some highlights of position group drills

And I hate the fact I am.

I really thought we got the best tackle in the class that year. Possibly the biggest disappointment I can remember in recent past. I'll give him credit for at least sticking it out and not transferring out.

Right there with ya. How a guy that big yet agile has not been able to put it together was a miss for a lot of people.

I was reading his bio.

He started two games in ‘21 (Purdue & Wisconsin), he played OT in two in 2020 as a freshman (USF & Syracuse) & played in all 13 games last year, on ST & backup OT.

And according to his stats, I can’t find a single in-game sack?

He got passed by Joe Alt who is a possible top 5 draft pick so it’s not that bad. He may well be good. Just not as good.

His main issues were communication breakdowns when LT/LG were getting shuffled around. I don’t think getting beaten straight up was his problem.

It is pretty funny how it took multiple injuries at LT to realize that Alt was really fucking good. He'll probably go down as the best LT Notre Dame has had this century.

Is it just me, or does the DL group always get the least amount of coverage? I realize there was a brief sighting but it seems they are usually the least covered. Is that by design?

Merriweather is going to be your deep threat this year. Thomas/Greathouse are going to see the bulk of the targets within 15 yards of the LOS in my opinion. Tyree will be a gadget player moved all over.

I do not expect Merriweather to have more than like ~35 catches this year.

Will say, just as a devil's advocate here....I remember reports that Foskey was underwhelming during fall camp in 2021. Was getting locked up by Blake Fisher at the time. Maybe the ND secondary is just that good?

They are good but probably not top 4 calibre good. Plus we are use to having a dude like JOK or Tranquil or Smith somewhere in there. Maybe we have been spoilt.
