I don't use Twitter/X really but to see some of our reporters posts and shit, but wtf kinda dogshit is that site now. I clicked on Sampson's tweet above and when I go to his page it shows me his tweets in order of most likes and not chronological. WHY WOULD I WANT TO SEE TWEETS FROM 3 YEARS AGO. Twitter was already garbage due to the people and principle of it and not to get political or some bullshit but how did Musk manage to make it worse?

I guess what I'm really saying is keep posting the tweets here for me cause I'm not going to be digging around that shithole site for them myself.
Just click on ‘following’ and not ‘for you.’ It usually does the trick

Looked good coverage to me... one on one as a corner is one of the toughest things to do in sports in my opinion. Good throw, good route

The increased blue chip ratio is starting to pay its dividends. The competitive culture + increased talent in the 2’s & 3’s is really showing itself lately and has me juiced.

Increased competition across the depth chart instead of just at the 1’s makes everyone better. More buy-in from a higher percentage of the roster and expedites the development of the talented young guns.

This is what people need to focus on in the short term when it comes to ND recruiting. Not landing the elite of the crop obviously comes with backlash and concern, but getting more blue chips on the roster will show up in practice with competition and on the field.

I am firm believe that Marcus Freeman will first need to show that he can win before he is able to firmly compete for elite recruits.

It took Kirby Smart a few seasons to build up Georgia. Why would it be anything different under Marcus Freeman at ND?

I can't slow it down and I've played it back a few times, but does Flores just whack that DB in the back of the head or am I not seeing it correctly?

The coach standing there in the video puts his arms up after the catch as if to say "WTF?" and makes a swatting motion with his arm.

Does seem that way. Big physical WR, love it.

That's gotta be Mickens.

As a former DB and DB coach, if you are allowed to just whack somebody in the back of the head like that to prevent them from covering you and making a play on the ball, I don't love it.

But I'd be telling my WR coach counterpart to knock the other guys the fuck out if that's actually allowed. I'm not sure how to coach against that when it's already hard enough to not get PI called on you in 2023.

So, back story to the video you see if the DBs versus the WRs.

It was a competition. And they were running goal line fades, with Tyree running slants out of the slot.

So the DBs knew the routes. So they had the advantage.
But the QBs were throwing some perfect passes.

It was tied 3-3 & Freeman told each side to pick their #1.
The offense had Hartman throwing to Thomas & the defense had Hart covering him.

It was perfect coverage, but Hartman threw a perfect pass where only Thomas could get it & he did.
The offense won the competition & that’s why they all swarmed Thomas to celebrate.

Love seeing these practice reports. Super intense. Flores and Greathouse sure don't like like freshmen at all. Offense should
be great this year.

Andrew Mentock’s Practice Report at ISD. (Premium)

Since it’s premium I won’t post too much but this excerpt I think is important.

Audric Estime had a couple of tough reps, especially against JD Bertrand who slammed him into the ground on a bull rush to get to quarterback.

While the LB’s will continue to be punching bags for some until we take the field against Navy. It’s an experienced and physical bunch. You can win a lot of games with guys like this. Mix in some athletes around them and watch out.

Good catch. Pun intended. I meant good catch by Jiggi of the old school helmet slap. And now I love Flores even more

That’s a 15 yard personal foul in games today.
And it’s even reviewable because it’s a blow to the head.
Saw a kid get ejected last year on the DL for the old school club to the head on an OL that put the kid in the protocol.

Agneli looks like he can walk and chew gum at the same time.

He’s received lots of praise by the media. In the spring, I figured the staff would be in the market for another transfer QB next offseason. Now, I’m not so sure. Angeli should be ready to take over.

The prior HC didn’t have the ability to get his teams fired up. This is a big and very welcome difference.

Fired up is the most overrated thing in sports.
It lasts for about a minute & then you have to calm down or else you gas.
Nick Saban is notorious for telling his players to calm down & think.
Being prepared & confident always destroys fired up.

I remember my senior year we were in the state semis. We were FIRED UP. Hooting hollering pregame. They proceeded to kick our ass 34-7 because they were better!

I think being fired up and thinking are two different things. I’m acknowledging the intensity that these players are showing. It’s different, welcome, and needed. I don’t recall a time that ND practiced with this much intensity. Iron sharpens Iron, so they need to give their all every practice.

That’s interesting. I think prepared/fired up are similar. If ND went into the Marshall game last year approaching it like it was a big game it’s definitely a different result.

This… focus 24-7 and confidence is the key for coaches to get from their players
