Following Seattle’s 21-20 win against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, Carroll told reporters he expected to return to the Seahawks. The 72-year-old coach told Seattle Sports radio on Monday: “I plan to be coaching this team. I love these guys, and that’s what I would like to be doing and see how far we can go. I’m not worn out. I’m not tired. I’m not any of that stuff.”

I'm not stanning Pete Freakin Carroll but I honestly don't get it.

LOL. 14 years in the NFL is an eternity.
True and some wear out their welcome before others. Bottom line, when you're moved into the infamous "consultant with the team" position it wasn't your decision.

Urban Meyer wore out his welcome.

Carroll had an NFL job for 14 years, won a Super Bowl and was one of the few coaches that transitioned from college ball to the NFL successfully. Yes, after nearly a decade and a half, most of which was successful....he "wore out his welcome." One of three seismic coaching changes we saw this week in a span of, what, 24 hours?

LOL

From ILB coach to HC feels like quite the jump. Similar to the Saban situation though, no one wants to be the coach that follows the GOAT

He played there from 2008-2015 and has been coaching there since 2019. I guess it makes total sense. Vrabel also played there for seven years, but Vrabel also supposedly told his owner he had no faith in the GM she hired and he wanted total roster control. I don't know that Kraft necessarily wanted that kind of dynamic, even if it was another favorite son of the franchise.

Hiring a defensive minded HC to pair with a new rookie QB doesn’t seem like a great match

Mayo was seen as the likely successor prior to this season by many Pats fans

Bob Knight, Woody Hayes, Bobby Bowden say hello.

I'm not arguing his success because he did a hell of a job, but being successful doesn't mean you can't wear out your welcome. Remaining with the team as a consultant is a teams way of acknowledging your accomplishments and allowing you to go out gracefully instead of coming out and telling everyone they were fired. The way it was described on the radio something happened that caused the Seahawks to move on quickly which is why this caught everyone off guard. If you think "wore out their welcome" was the wrong phrase that's your prerogative. I think it applies. ☮️

Woody Hayes less "wore out his welcome" and more "assaulted a student on the field" lol

They're all dead, Unc.

Don't forget Paterno. He's dead, too.

29 years, 27 years and 33 years respectively. Long stays as a guest.

Zack Martin and Kyle Hamilton: NFL All Pros

Martin 7x
Hamilton 1x
Needs to be said that Zack Martin has been 1st Team All Pro 7 times and 2nd Team 2 times. I'm gonna post in his thread shortly but we really haven't seen a player like him in decades.

Tied 1st all time amongst guards for AP1st team.

He's up there with Bruce Matthews, Randall McDaniel and John Hannah.

Those are historically great guards in the NFL and he's right there with them.

If he plays at least 5 or 6 more years at average productivity, we can assume he gets a couple more All Pro awards and there will be legit conversation debating if he's the best ever.

That's amazing to me.

Going to be some interesting weather for the games this weekend. KC is going to have -30 wind chill and Buffalo might get so much snow that they are talking about moving the game to Cleveland. Wonder if anyone in KC ends up looking like Coughlin when the giants played in Green Bay years ago.

There is always an outlier. Ryans/Stroud isn't the norm. Tomlin/Pickett and Eberflus/Fields also say hi.
Carroll/Russell
Newton/Rivera
Big Ben/Cowher
Ryan/Smith
Dalton/Lewis
Pagano/Luck
Pederson/Wentz
Stafford/Schwartz
