Bryce Young and Will Anderson, arguably picks #1 and 2 in the upcoming NFL draft, are playing today, in what is honestly the equivalent of the Idaho Potato Bowl for this program.

SERIOUS question:

Does Bama put “you must play” language in their NIL contracts? This makes absolutely no sense otherwise.

I was listening to the pregame on the radio in the car, & the announcer said they were told they could sit out, but they wanted to end their careers at Alabama on a high note after a disappointing year. They felt they owed it to their teammates who would be graduating to help them end on a win.

I just saw the highlight of his pick six. Ugh. I have a feeling I’ll be seeing highlights of him for a long time (and it will hurt every time I watch one).

He looks like Kyle Hamilton

It wouldn’t surprise me if the NIL contracts provide an “in$entive clause” to play in the bowl but not a requirement.

For guys who will be top 10 picks if they don’t play and don’t get injured, there isn’t enough NIL money for one game to match the $5-10 million they would lose if they got hurt & slid to the 2nd round.
Just dropping from top 10 to bottom of the 1st round is millions of dollars.

K-State is garbage. They have nothing on offense against anybody outside the B12. TCU probably gets thumped tonight too unless Duggan is other worldy. This is one of the issues with conference championships and playoff tie-ins IMO. Alabame probably beats UM in a playoff game but they get left out because they lose 2 games by a total of 3 points to a team that just won the orange bowl without their star QB and an LSU team that was much improved this year, meanwhile going 12-1 against a schedule where the. Eat teams you played may have been Texas Tech and a K-State team that is currently getting manhandled by said Bama team gets you in.

I parlayed Bama to lead at halftime + Bama to win by 10+ points + Kansas state under 20 points. So far so good.

I also took Bama on the moneyline heavy to cover my parlay. With Young playing KSU never had a chance.

My other bets today are TCU +7.5 and Georgia -6.5. I do not feel great about the Georgia bet... lots of sharp money coming in on Ohio State. But I'm not heavy on either of those plays.

I would feel better about that UGA one than the TCU one. TCU had no business in the playoffs.

I think it really comes down to both of them just feel like they have an obligation to the program and their teammates. I can't imagine any realistic amount of NIL money to play in a bowl would be worth the risk to their draft stock if they got seriously injured and dropped in the draft. Given their draft projections, playing can't raise their stock. Apparently, they just wanted to play, end their career on the field with their teammates, and felt it was the right thing to do. .

Certainly don’t want this to happen, but how big of a colossal mind fuck would it be for Michigan if Ohio State won it all?

You go from getting your teeth kicked in by them for like two decades straight, get over the hump, whip them twice in a row, then they steal a backdoor title at your expense?

I honestly can’t think of anything more demoralizing.

I took OSU and the points. Also put a little change on them to win it all.

I was fond of OU under Bob Stoops. It's really been a downhill run for them on my personal fun o meter.

I really do think they're in danger of becoming Nebraska. This super conference stuff is going to kill a lot of programs and they're going to be one of them.
My college roommate the year Stoops won his title was from Oklahoma. Damn that was a long ass semester of hearing him talk shit. SOB bought like 40 copies of the SI and hung them all over the apartment.

Yeah, let’s just say that I got a couple new roommates that next year. And I certainly wouldn’t be upset if OU become Nebraska 2.0.

Sadly I think Michigan is going to win this comfortably. I see it similar to the Bama game where KSU came out hot early, but then the talent of Bama took over.
