I disagree. Walker particularly doesn't appear to be that hesitant to leave the south, considering our biggest competition here is Michigan.

I can't really think of many situations where kids didn't finish their careers out at ND simply because they were homesick or got cold feet. Braden Lenzy is a pretty stark example of the opposite. He had every excuse to move on, but didn't. Dude decommitted and then recommitted to us, and hasn't been able to see the field much up until just now, 4 years in.

I gave two examples. The homesickness was for Williams, and Walker is the one milking the process while "committed".

But my point was that your nerves are not going to get a break even if we go 3/3 on ESD. I think the odds that both Walker and Williams graduate from ND is very low.

I'm trying to find numbers to back it up but I would guess that WR especially is going to be a free for all pretty much every year for the transfer portal. Most top young guys think they can play right away.

I daresay going forward we should plan that if we bring in 3 WRs we will only have 2 beyond the first two years. Notre Dame will have to build a competitive advantage as a finishing school (paging Joke Bobo?) to fill numbers here and there.

Jameson Williams and I agree with you. You have identified the new normal.

Those aren't valid examples, because they haven't gone through ND yet.

Army put it best, those guys aren't going to leave ND because they were homesick or drew out the process. They may leave because they feel they can have a better shot of PT somewhere else.

But we'll never know if that's the case if they never sign in the first place. I'd rather be in a position where a guy like CJ or Walker feel the need to leave because they're not seeing the field than be in a position where we don't have them and are starved for scholarship bodies at receiver. One's a good problem to have more often than not, the other is a just a big problem.

Which is why it’s really disappointing that there have been no solid backup plans put in place. We should’ve been recruiting guys for these spots for months. Always should be recruiting backup plans.

But, maybe they are and we just don’t know it. That just seems doubtful.

I've been helplessly hopeful that the reason we aren't hearing anything is it is because they have an idea who they want transfer wise and that we don't seem to hear as much smoke on transfers as we do HS recruits.

But it also seems unlikely in the end.

Loy just published an article which basically says all of the question marks are still question marks. No one committed on their visits over the weekend. So Walker, Williams, and Moore could all go either way.

It's been awhile since we have had some signing day excitement. Buckle up!

Mike basically said much of the same. Not much coming out, but it's good news that neither CJ nor Moore committed on their visits.

ND seems confident that Walker sticks.

CJ may be close. ND has the benefit of a strong few classes, while USC is struggling immensely, so that talent angle isn't really working in their favor. I think he sticks in the end. ND just seems to be a much more stable situation right now, while USC is looking at an extensive rebuild.

Moore could also be a toss-up. But I fear Raymond may be the difference here.

I don't like the idea of losing out on Moore, but with DB recruiting firing on all cylinders for '23, that makes me feel significantly better. Can't afford to miss on either Walker or CJ at this point. Need the bodies.

Again, this isn't exciting to me. This is nerve-wracking, because these are guys we thought were in the bag and now we have a chance of losing, and the cherry on top is that they're at positions of significant need. If it were a situation where these guys were wrapped up and we were waiting on Nwankpa or someone of that caliber to decide, whom would be a luxury, then I'd agree. Exciting. These guys are desperate needs.

Walker or Williams unexpectedly switching on signing day would be pretty harsh given the preexisting commitment and relationships. You would think they would at least afford ND the respect of letting them know prior.

IMO, any of them who haven't reaffirmed with ND before Wednesday aren't coming. A recruit who wants to leave it a mystery through signing day would only do that because of the positive publicity of flipping to the new school. There's no reason to leave ND hanging in order to create a surprise in favor of the school you're already committed to.

Williams - SC
Walker - ND
Moore - FL

Which is about the worst outcome imo, other than losing all 3.

Maybe just me, but I'd rather have walker than Williams.

Moore is not even worth discussing anymore IMO.

Well nothing against Mike but he has clicks to sell.

said it previously, happy as hell to be surprised but I won't invest anything on that one.

I think the first part of this is pretty spot on lol

Which is fine, certainly not looking for backup in my opinion.

What ND typically lacks at WR is game changers (I think we have one now in styles). I don't think Williams is a game changer and Walker can be.
