10-2, NY6 bowl loss. Sorry it's just what I've been conditioned to expect.
Sean McVay seems reasonableIf Rees leaves, who would Freeman go after? I assume it would be an experienced coach and elite recruiter.
Pass, we need an offensive mind. Bigger fish.Sean McVay seems reasonable

I think we lose to Ohio State but close. I think we lose to USC by double digits. I think there is another game that we sneak by just by the skin of our teeth that shouldn’t be that way. And we lose the bowl game. For some reason ND football fails to show up for significant bowl games. I think that happens yet again this year.
USC is a glorified 7 v 7 team, and is soft AF in the trenches. We've won the last 4 in a row and 7 of the last 9 games as a result. Riley has done literally nothing to address this problem yet.Lose to Ohio St. Put up a fight in the first half then end up losing by about the spread. Lose a squeaker to USC who will be a top 15ish team
UNC's projected to have a respectable offense, but their defense is guaranteed to be hot garbage. Most pre-season projections have them in the 50-60 range. How is that game a "toss up"?TOSS UPS

Weird things happen in rivalry games, so we can't guarantee victory, but USC looks like the 4th toughest out on our schedule, and may not even be that good. If you honestly believe we're going to lose to the Trojans, then you'd better be prepared for the worst season we've had since since 2016.

Lineman is one of the positions least amenable to shoring up through transfer (remember "Pre-season All-American Cain Madden")? Those guys set the tone for your team's toughness, and they have to be recruited and developed internally. There's no short-cut available to Riley here.I really don't know what to expect from USC this year b/c it's so hard to predict how a team with 87 transfers will actually perform. A couple of those transfers are on the OL and DL and that should give them some depth.
If this game was in SB mid season, ND would throttle them. They'll have the entire year to pick up Riley's offense and they'll play at home, which gives them a much better shot at beating ND. That said, ND is far deeper and if USC is playing backups by week 12, they may catch a beating.
I think ND wins but you're more confident than me.

Given their absolutely abismal schedule, they could be a 1 or 2 loss team at worst. Will be all the sweeter if we can roll in their and crack some skulls.I didn’t say that’s what I want to happen. I hope we go to Cali and curb stomp them.
Good point but on the road, 3 time zones away, rivalry as you mentioned, and Riley gets the whole season to figure it out first. I think we lose another one and imo it's most likely USC.USC is a glorified 7 v 7 team, and is soft AF in the trenches. We've won the last 4 in a row and 7 of the last 9 games as a result. USC isn't gonna "out athlete us" in the trenches.I don't think we lose to BYU. They can't out athlete us, which should be our biggest concern against the rest of the 4 big games on the schedule.
I'm talking about fast twitch athletes in space. If Riley can get his recievers and QB in sync they will be a good team. I don't see them winning the Pac 12 but could see them going something like 10-2 unfortunately.USC isn't gonna "out athlete us" in the trenches.
Gonna stick my neck out here and predict that ND won't lose to the Trojans again until they start recruiting and developing linemen like the big boys.
I'm really looking forward to Clemson and seeing the ND OL square off against their fantastic DL.This is a hard season to predict because our two toughest opponents--OSU and Clemson--have very imbalanced teams. They could legitimately be, respectively, the best offense and defense in the nation this year. But the opposite unit for both teams is only projected to be 1/3 as efficient. That's a real opportunity for ND, as imbalanced teams are much easier for a good coaching staff to plan around and upset.
