I see top draft picks in their future
That's up there with the Packers hiring Joe Barry.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall during these interviews to figure out how in the hell these guys explain away their track record in a way that gets them another gig, especially so quickly.

Woods was DB coach with Dennis Allen when Allen was with the Raiders. 2014. One year. That's all it takes.

The controversy over the last defensive holding call sure has deflected the conversation away from the deplorable field. The commissioner must have sent a signal to the referees!

Evidently they spent two years and $800k getting that grass ready at a sod farm in Phoenix.

Wasn't there another game recently in Arizona where the field was garbage?

Was it the Eagles' last kickoff where the kicker almost wiped out when he planted his foot? That would've been a debacle. (even moreso than the defensive holding call).

I had been waiting for this to happen all night. Defenders were falling in particular. Several Eagles players changed cleats. Really embarrassing look for The League.

The play calling and QB play in that game yesterday was a masterclass. Eric Bienemy gets another ring and Steichen likely gets the Colts job.

This. And the execution by many of the players- Hurts, Brown, Mahomes, Pacheco, Kielce, JuJu, etc.

One of the downsides to watching a game on TV is that you often can't see how a play is developing. It was even a treat to actually be able to see several of the pass plays unfolding before our very eyes on the screen as well.

As a fan of football, the game was a true pleasure and joy to watch.

I always say it's ridiculous to say a game comes down to one single play. Last night though was an example of this. The game was so well called and executed, truly any one of the plays throughout the game, by either team, could have very well changed the outcome. Bravo to the players and coaches for giving it their all and playing and coaching like the championship depended on each play.

Kansas City had rookies on both sides of the ball starting and or contributing. If they can get Mahomes a top ten defense he's going to be tough to beat for the next ten years.

Philadelphia crosses midfield and they're in four down territory. I love it. I was actually surprised they kicked on 4th and 6 to go up 27-21. I think if they had pressed on and gotten a 31-21 lead that game may have been out of reach at that point. Their offense looked really good minus the Hurts fumble for six and a couple of punts. Hurts was fantastic on third downs and they are a clinic on running the QB sneak.

Side: the sooner we get over this, 'No one believed in us!" crap the better,... come on Kelce, you were one of the odds on SB favs all year. Literally no one was out there saying you all had zero chance, at any point, all year long.
The Eagles kicked off as, what, a 1.5 favorite?

Yeah, it's past annoying now that every team that wins anything has this as the first thing that comes out of their mouth. Winning isn't enough anymore.

It really must be that easy to insulate your locker room as a coach and make your players believe this.

That was absurd and drives me crazy.

NOBODY was ever counting them out. You weren't the Detroit Lions or Jaguars. You were the team with the best player on the planet that, the best play caller in the league, the team that had been to the Championship Game 4 times in a row, and the team thad had been to the playoffs 7 years in a row. And you traded 1 dude. STFU with that shit, Kelce.

Totally agree. That was their only strategic blunder, especially since they had embraced the Madden-style, 4-down approach up to that point. When it's getting late in the game and you know Mahomes is starting to get it rolling, you have to score touchdowns, period. A field goal might as well be a turnover at that point, because you know he's going to go put another 7 on the board.

It was one of the best SB games ever. I don't know what they used to numb the pain, but Mahomes didn't look like he was hurting in the second half. When he broke that run in the 4th, it was game, set and match.

I think it was game set and match when the ??? defensive holding was called. Like I already don't really care about the NFL at all (no fun league, you're cheering for laundry, etc) but I tuned in for the second half of the super bowl. The Chiefs advanced won the AFC Championship and the Super Bowl on last second, game changing, iffy penalty calls. I think the NFL thinks they need to anoint Mahomes as the next "guy" and so they made sure it happened this year just like they secured a big Super Bowl win for the new LA team last year with mysterious calls.

Everyone knows that if you want to swing a game, you selectively call holding penalties which occur on every play of the game. If they were going to throw the game, it would have looked exactly like that.

Re: the holding specifically - I'm just a dumb former lineman, but can't you bump and tug with the guy in the first five yards off the Line of Scrimmage?

I would think if the NFL was wanting the Chiefs to win they wouldn’t overturn calls like the scoop and score the Chiefs had.

Another side: how freakin good was Chris Stapleton last night??? First time since 91 that a part of what I remember about the Super Bowl is the anthem singer. Nothing will ever come close to topping Whitney imo but damn, I think that was second only to her,… he killed it.
