Glorious! That late hit has to be one of the dumbest plays of all time.

I like Frank Reich. Not surprised at all he's received a second opportunity.
You mean the same Frank Reich that loved to try and make the D think the Colts were going for it on 4th down? He did it so much any element of surprise was never there. I'm too lazy to see if they even keep that stat, but I would be willing to bet he did it far more often than anyone else.

Reich is a nice guy, but he's not HC material IMO.

Watching the AFCCG, it seemed to me that the Chiefs controlled the game from start to finish.

It was the same script as last year’s Bengals/Chiefs games… Chiefs start hot and control the game until just before halftime. The Bengals get a score/stop, then come out in the third quarter and do the same, and suddenly it’s a ballgame.

Bengals offense just couldn’t finish this time around. Can’t ask for much more from your defense than to hold Mahomes to 20 points going into the last two minutes, with the ball and a chance to go win.

(I would love for Joe Burrow to go into the playoffs with a good/healthy OL just one time, though. As much as I’d love them to add one more weapon at TE, OG/OT is probably a bigger need in round one this year, depending on how they go with re-signings prior to the draft.)

Yeah, that's him. Sorry to have touched a nerve there.

The officiating was terrible in both games, but it wasn't the reason the Eagles and Chiefs won.

Yeah, watching shit officiating and having commercial breaks littered with Kevin Hart Draft Kings ads to a public that loves conspiracy theories is like pouring gasoline on a fire.

Wowza - now I remember why I stopped watching the NFL on a regular basis. That officiating was absolutely terrible in both games. It takes a lot of the joy out of watching a wonderful sport. Those refs were worse that ACC refs!

I know that having refs is probably like everything else and on high demand. But i wonder if its time to add another official or two.

The phantom whistle and the Bengals holding call on 5th down did it for me. Zac Taylor had every right to come unglued.

Even some of the things Bengals players did were odd. Hitting Mahomes 15 yards out of bounce to set them up for a game winning field goal was a new one.

Not a bad idea at all.

Still have not seen an explanation on that. It was egregious to say the least.

Not even going to be a Cincy guy blaming officiating for the loss, because the loss came down to Chris Jones terrorizing backup offensive linemen, BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT...

TWO missed blocks-in-back on the Chiefs big punt return at the end, which got the Chiefs into position for Mahomes' scramble in the first place, were suspect, especially with how obvious they were, and particularly because they had been calling punt/punt coverage penalties tight all game.

Swallowing your whistle on the final play? I get that.
Swallowing your whistle when there's still a minute left? Not the time!

I'm not a conspiracy theorist. I don't think the fix was in. The Chiefs won because Mahomes did Mahomes things when given the opportunity on money downs.

But the officiating in the NFL is bad lately. It shouldn't affect the outcome of a game to the degree it does, but it feels like those instances are getting more frequent. There were times last night where the head of the crew looked as lost as the replacement refs did back during that disaster of a season.

It's time for full-time, NFL-sponsored officials. Pay them what they deserve, train them, keep them fresh and active and familiar with all the borderline, subjective bullshit teams put them through.

But the NFL won't do it, because that opens them to accountability for the officiating. Right now, with 'independent' officials, they don't have to answer to mistakes or egregious calls/no-calls.

They did show the ref running in and waving his hands before the snap. Guess nobody heard the whistle. Apple did hold the receiver. IMO. Not sure why people expect perfection from the refs when the players and coaches constantly make poor decisions.

Didn’t like the Bengals clock management at the end. thought they left too much time for the Chiefs.

The hold happened so far away from the play. I think it should’ve gone uncalled. He wasn’t getting the ball anyway.

He’s a receiver. It was a pass play. He wasn’t getting the ball because Apple held him when he was trying to get out of his break. It was a clear hold.

I was rooting for the Bengals and can’t stand the Chiefs.

I can’t stand the Chiefs. It’s pretty crazy how much Mahomes carries that team. I think Philly is better than them across the board, minus QB.

It's past time for this. Long overdue.

How about the stars of your team getting multi year suspensions when your rival team players do the same shit or worse and barely get multiple games??? That’s always fun and not at all infuriating

Besides Josh Gordon repeatedly failing drug tests, I don't know who else you mean for the Browns?

Can't necessarily speak to suspensions, but heated Bengals/Steelers games always seem to end up with a bunch of Bengals getting fined a bunch of money, and Steeler's players getting 'stern talkings to'

I think the front office has some organizations that are held to the letter of the law (or worse), and some that get some *wink wink nudge nudge* treatment. It makes sense that the Steelers benefit based on the Rooney family, because they are apparently really good people in general.

Well neither of those were multi-year, that's why I was confused. I mean Myles Garrett tried to kill a dude on the field lol. And Watson shouldn't even be in the league, he should be in prison. I assumed ACamp had different examples.
I think he’s talking about how Aaron Donald did the same thing as Garrett and got no penalty at all.

Although I did hear that because that incident happened in training camp the NFL doesn’t have the authority to punish a player for it. It would have had to be the Rams suspending him themselves. But I’m sure if the league wanted it and leaned on them hard enough they would have complied.

Why does everyone hate the Chiefs so much? Especially Mahomes? I’m pretty indifferent on the Chiefs and enjoy watching Mahomes play. He’s not a showboater, doesn’t talk trash, quiet off the field, married his high school sweetheart. Idk just don’t see many reasons to hate him other than him being a really great QB.

I don't hate the Chiefs either, but I absolutely loathe Brittany Mahomes (wife) and his brother Jackson and their antics.

I agree with you that Pat seems like a stand up dude, and he's an absolute joy to watch on the field.

I think part of it too for a lot of people is they just like to see dynasties fall. I hated seeing New England in every other SB. In general, fans like parity, and when you have teams like KC making 3/4 SBs, especially with the recent NE dominance still fresh on people's minds, it leads to contempt.

Cincy was also being cocky AF heading into that game; that message from the mayor was dumb as hell.

Ah I’m not on social media really so I don’t know anything about his wife or brother. I’d much rather have KC be a dynasty than Cincy 😆

I think it’s his wife and brother that make it so much worse. They’ve been quiet lately, but were unbearable in years past.

From a roster standpoint, I don’t think they’re that good. When Juju or MVS is your best receiver, you have issues. Outside of Jones, the DL is very average. I wouldn’t be surprised if Philly wins by 10+.

But, Mahomes is the NFL’s poster child so who knows what happens.
