If you want to run isolation. Go with Goodwin. He was the hot hand for the game. Great game by the boys though. Laid it all out on the floor

ND Basketball needs some new blood in the coaching department. People having been saying this for the last few years and it's still true.

Terrible officiating and Blake’s inexperience cost them this game. Can’t blame some foul shot misses at the end as they were 100% prior.

Proud of the team and exceeded my expectations. Hopefully they can build on this next year

No way Wesley doesn’t come back. He won’t get drafted.
Every mock draft has him in the first round. Baffles me. Do they watch the games?

But they are getting their info from somewhere. My only guess is the NBA guys must think they can coach him up

Every player on the roster has eligibility next year (except Atkinson unless he gets a waiver), will be interesting to see how it shakes out with three highly rated guys coming in. Wesley is a good player but he’s not NBA ready yet. Jaden Ivey at Purdue came back for his sophomore year and has been much more accomplished this year. Hope Wesley follows the same plan.

John Higgins and the officials didn’t miss the free throws, but they can get fucked. That game evolved into a brawl in the last couple minutes and ND got called for reactionary touch fouls, while TT could impose their will physically with no whistle. I don’t think Santos got any piece of the ball at all on that “block” of Wesley.

Team fought hard, and gave TTU all they could handle. Solid season, step in the right direction, pretty excited for next year.

It’s doubtful Atkinson is eligible to come back, but he’s in desperate need to come back. If not, need a transfer big bad.

Wesley
Goodwin
Cormac
Nate
Atkinson/Transfer big
Zona
Starling
Koniesky

If I had to guess would be the 8 man rotation. I’m not certain Nate will come back. We know Brey rarely goes 8, but may have too many bodies not to.

Sorry sir, I tried to correct that before anyone responded 😆

Hate to see their season end by the refs. Alot of missed calls and bad calls that didn't go their way.

They overachieved this season after they started so poorly. But man they made it fun to watch again... Too bad they were on the wrong end of the refs poor calls.

Not really sure how you can pin it on refs when Brey went ISO ball for the last few minutes after specifically not doing that all game. They'd drive and kick it out, and repeat until they got a look they liked. Brey clearly decided is was time for hero ball against a really good and long defense and the Irish subsequently imploded.

This is 85% on Brey IMO.

3 bigs out of 8? Nah. Not if Brey is coach. Think the other frosh, Luben, will make the rotation. He's supposed to be a good one.

Sadly, for how well Brey got these guys to play of late. That end of game is hard to handle. Wesley ISO on one play, ok. On the 2nd, please make it stop.

But, if we make the damn FT’s it may not matter. Can’t have your guards missing FT’s like that.

This might sound crazy, but in that situation I’m okay with iso if it was Hubb. He has been playing much better down the stretch and Wesley has been making too many errors trying to force up shots. I’d trust Hubb to eat pressure then kick it for an open shot since Tech was playing aggressive defense.

And ISO ball is generally the antithesis of what he wants to do as an offense. Just crazy to see us run it for the last two minutes.

Wesley needs to come back. Lack of focus and composure down the stretch and could really use an extra year to work on his body. There isn't anything yet that he does at a level good enough to carve an extensive career in the NBA...He'll make more money by coming back.

You don't want the game to be in the hands of the refs. They cost us 2-4 points, but just hit the FT's and it's an Irish win. Wesley showed he has the skills, but you have to mesh that with the stuff between the ears. If you're happy with how the season went, then Brey is your guy, because that's what you get. His two trips to the Elite 8 appear to be anomalies. If you want more, then it's time for a new coach. It will never happen, but I would love to see Jack make a run at Jay Wright.

I basically agree with Mendoza. ND was not supposed to win that game but played great defense to put themselves in position to win. Then refs swallowed their whistles + ND missed free throws. So a lot of “blame” to go around, but I’m not going to lose sleep over it.

Lol. Jay Wright would not come here. Any other options?

Really don't understand Brey's stubbornness to stick with Wesley down the stretch and even to go isolation on those last few drives. As talented as Blake is, he really struggled those last three games int he tournament. I thought Wertz came in off the bench in the first half and sparked the offense a bit; he looked much more comfortable handling the TT pressure, hit a couple big shots and moved the ball in the offense better. He had that one brutal pick pocket when he was getting a little too cute dribbling but other than that, I think if he plays over Wesley in those last two minutes we are singing a different tune this morning.

Can't explain the poor FT shooting from a Brey coached team. Cormac missing the front end and a few other misses down the stretch killed us. It wasn't just tired legs, they struggled since VT in the ACC tourney. Brutal time of year to get the yips at the line.

Sad to see this season come to an end. Next year should be really special.

The turnovers, the empty possessions, and the free throws doomed the boys late. They were gassed; however, they were still in a position to steal that game. It was nice to see them win two games and I hope almost everyone returns and we can somehow score another big body in the paint. Where's Carl Cozen when you need him :D:D:D

While we're at it we should hire Saban, Auriemma, and Tilman. Link Jarrett can stay though, he's aight.
It's unfortunate that the most realistic possibility among that list of names in Link Jarrett taking a payday somewhere else....

Wesley had 2 TOs in three possessions in the last 2 minutes. Such a horrible coaching fail - I love the kid's talent but he has been really struggling since the ACC tournament. NCAA tourney is not the time to start leaning on a freshman and definitely not 2 minutes to make the Sweet 16 on a 3-14 shooting night. Really made no sense whatsoever and 100% called by Brey. Not saying Goodwin or Ryan or Hubb would have made shots to win but dammit they deserve that chance to make something happen.

I am a bit less worked up over the horrible officiating. NCAA tourney is notoriously rough with refs eating their whistles which can heavily favor the bigger/more athletic teams (i.e. typically not us). Had we hit the front of that 1:1 and gone 2-3 or 3-3 instead of 0-2 around the 2 minute mark it is a two possession game and likely turns in to a FT contest for us. When their 46% FT shooting goon hits 2-2 on his 1:1, I knew the basketball gods had it in for us. The goaltend on the dunk is a bit cheap, IMO. Whistling the play dead on the Laz bunny resulted in a Wertz 3 so we ended up benefiting. Poorly officiated but we screwed ourselves more.

Haven't seen a lot of Texas Tech but they certainly didn't look like a 3 seed last night. While our defense was strong, their offense was a mess.

Texas Tech looked like monsters in their first round game. I was pretty worried this would be an embarrassment.

This ND team exceeded my expectations from back in November, but last night was so frustrating and disappointing. Still, just about everyone coming back plus the three incoming freshmen should signal high hopes for 2022/23.

Depth is an issue that needs addressed.
