Honestly, this could huge for recruiting, if done correctly. Huge pitch opportunity

I like your take on this.

Honestly, this is the draft to come out. Not like there will be pressure on him to perform right away and carry a bad franchise, or even be a counted upon bench player on a good one.

Spurs pick 8, 17 and 20. I'd love to have Pop get him.

If Blake can pull his name out of the draft I hope he does. I think he needs to come back. In my opinion Jaden Ivey had a better freshman season than Blake and he came back.

Blake needs to become a better all around player.

Torn on what I would advise him to do. Not that my opinion matters in the slightest lol but if he comes back and puts up the same numbers next year then he’s going from an athletic guard with a high ceiling to one who maybe has a clear ceiling due to shooting limitations. High FT% is usually an indication that there is a lot of room to grow with a middling 3PT%. He was pretty poor at both this year for a guard. If he comes back for another year and is just an average shooter than his stock tumbles pretty hard IMO. Theres no shortage of athletic guards who can’t shoot. Obviously the upside is he comes back and is Ivey and plays his way Top 5 pick. Really hope he somehow stays, but I’d probably go if I were him.

Don’t think Blake‘s skills are polished nearly enough to make it in the NBA after only one year in college but I hope he proves me wrong.

I think it's a mistake, but it's his to make and I wish him well. Any idea how many guys that get drafted and put in the D league actually end up in the NBA? Any idea on length of career?

Lonnie Walker spent a bunch of time in the G-League his first year or two after he declared as a freshman. He's doing alright for the Spurs, averaging about 12 a game this year.

Friendly reminder that NBA Draft / NFL Draft are two very different places.

They don't look at players (unless super high lottery) as needing to be instant impact. They are drafting based on measurables/talent ceiling. It's obviously a sloppy strategy, but so it goes in the 1 and Done Era.

Wishing him the best! Huge loss for the men's team, I thought he would take a big leap next year and solidify a lottery spot, a la Ivey.

That being said, we don't get many first round draft picks from our program so it should be fun to track his career....good luck Blake!

Outside of the Wesley news from yesterday, this is about what I expected. Didn't think Atkinson was going to get a waiver, even if he had intentions to return.

That's a solid veteran core to couple with the young studs we have coming in with this recruiting class. Identify a quality big in the portal, such as that 6'9" forward from Wright State, and I think we're in good shape to compete for another tourney birth next March.

The Spurs are the prototype of an organization that can bring Blake Wesley along.
Wesley does not need to be ready to start or be a sixth man. Just learn the game, get great coaching/teaching in daily practice.
Wesley comes from a grounded family, strong mom, strong dad. He will be guided well.

Nice analog in Lonnie Walker.

Bizarro world (or maybe not) LSU's entire men's basketball team is leaving and all their signees have reopened their recruitment. Four into the draft, the rest into the portal.

They finally fired Will Wade, who got caught offering a recruit money on audio by the FBI. I guess the players know probations coming but wow this is crazy stuff.

Saw Notre Dame has made contact with their center Efton Reid. A 7 foot rim protector would be so welcomed.

I will say after watch this UNC and Duke game I am glad our players are selfish. The ball movement in this game has been terrible.

Duke's struggles getting defensive rebounds at critical times was very reminiscent of Brey's Irish teams.

And funny enough, arguably two of the best rebounding teams in the country in UNC and Kentucky, ND somehow beat.

Yeah, BUT

The new coach does not have to clean the Augean Stables of Wade's bought and paid for trash.

Again, the LSU AD, Woodward, may be as good as any in the country. And now, McMahon doesn't have to coddle any of Wade's pissed off leftovers.

He is in clear rebuilding mode.
HIs AD knows it.
and he can scour the Jaycees, the foreign players and the transfer market to build his roster.

McMahon would not scare easily on his own. Remember, he recruited Ja Morant. Yeah, him.

Niagra grad transfer looks to announce soon. On the plus side, fresh off a ND visit. On the down side, he had a great visit to Georgetown and immediately announced he was no longer planning on visiting Rutgers. Had planned on taking a visit to K-State at the end of the month. Evidently he is done with visits.

Averaged 18.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists as a Senior

I was curious if ND was going to go after Detroit Mercy's Antoine Davis, who is an elite scorer (averaged 23 points per game last season and is the program's all time leading scorer), but it sounds like he made a top 5 already. GTown also on his final list, and he also listed K State. Seems like a few schools looking for similar talents in these two scoring guards.
