1st Rankings coming out tonight. Show just started on ESPN if interested.

I'm going to guess Bama, ND, OSU, Clemson.

Will be interesting to see how Cinci and BYU are treated compared to TAMU, UF, and Oregon.

I wonder if BYU backing down from their anywhere, anybody, ..... was a factor?

I think we’re in with even a loss (competitive) in ACCCG. Or a loss, then a win in ACCCG.

I do not believe Cincy gets in. I’m not saying they may not deserve it, but I just don’t think they’ll put them in barring a total mess.

It sets up nicely for ND.

PAC 12 is in trouble (self-inflicted)

In the event we go 11-1 with the lone loss being to Clemson and 8-1 TAMU gets in over 11-1 ND I will be beyond pissed.

Might as well just eliminate non-power 5 teams from being considered for the playoffs.

BYU's schedule is weak, but still too low IMO.

Agree, Cinci has a tough road. I bet they end up at 5th lol

Hoping TAMU get's beat in the remaining games. They've postponed two already. That beat down from Bama was a bad loss, so surprised they are ahead of FL even with the head to head win.

Also agree we're in so long as it's a close loss in the ACC-C.

The only thing I think could really screw stuff up is UF winning a tight one over Bama.

Really doubt it would happen in that scenario so long as ND's loss is a close one. TAMU got blown out in their loss.

What scenario would even get Cincy in at this point?
1) Bama wins out - 1
2) ND wins out - 2
3) Ohio St wins out - 3
4) TAMU drops a game - Cincy slides into 4?

I hope you're right. And obviously it seems logical for ND to stay ahead even with a loss but the pessimistic Irish fan in me can't be contained sometimes.

UGa doesn’t belong in the top15. TAMU shouldn’t be in top 10. BYU is getting overlooked.

This would do it bc Clemson, Florida and TAMU would all have two losses assuming obviously that Cincinnati wins out

Yep, my PTSD is real too lol. I wouldn't be shocked or anything to see us get left out.

It's a weird year of course. If we got left out, I'd rather it be for an undefeated G5 team than a one loss team like TAMU. My biggest fear though is an undefeated PAC team taking a spot. Both Oregon and USC have cake walks to the PAC-C. I would be hot if we got left out because of either...

Looks like the non P5 has a better path than the PAC12. OSU or Northwestern winning out I think checks box #3. Northwestern plays a brutal schedule, too.

ESPN's playoff predictor

ND's current chance to make playoff - 59%
Win vs UNC - 70%
Lose to UNC - 30%

IDK. It's going to be interesting. Oregon and USC will consistently crawl up via their cake walks, and will likely be top 10 going into the last game in PAC-C. One will end up having a "top 10" win. UC's best win will be over maybe a low ranked Tulsa or SMU. Then the committee will look at body of work.

I get trying to involve everyone and make it feel like a normal season was the goal, but the B1G and PAC should be excluded from the CFP for sitting on the fence and letting the other programs be guinea pigs.

They are the guy in a group project who contributes nothing, then shows up on presentation day acting like he is the focal point.

It’s great to be relevant
IU should be higher
Georgia drastically overrated
BYU should be pissed
PAC12 teetering on being irrelevant

I could see 3-4 teams being left out that could make a legit argument for being in.

I'd let the Big10 in, and give participation trophies to the PAC.

This year is an anomaly. Without OOC games it's impossible for any G5 team to beat anyone of substance, or even a P5 bottom feeder that could serve as a comparison.

I joked earlier this year that ND could win the Natty, and have it disallowed (or at least disrespected) due to covid. Whatever at this point.

These rankings basically confirm that if we take care of business for the rest of the regular season AND Alabama holds serve then ND will be in the playoffs. We will either be the 2 seed playing Ohio State or the 4 seed playing Alabama. There are some edge case scenarios where ND doesn't get in at 11-1... they mainly involve losing to Clemson by 28+... but it's not worth going down that rabbit hole. Oregon at 15 and Oklahoma at 11 means that neither conference is getting represented short of utter chaos from the other three.

Lose a regular season game and ND needs to win the ACC Championship to grab the likely 3 seed.

First order of business is beat North Carolina on the road.

I agree. They have no place at the table. How do you possibly play that schedule and think you would run with the big dogs of CFB? Thats like sweeping the MAC and thinking you should be running against Bama.

Cincinnati tried that a while back and you saw what it got them and they at least played some low middle teams.
