Texas A&M and OSU need to meet up this weekend and play ball. BYU and Coastal were able to make it work. Why not?

Didn't work out so good for BYU lol. Hopefully OSU is BYU in that scenario. They probably won't play them though, highly unlikely. B1G is gonna backtrack on their rules to let OSU play in their championship. Guaranteed.

Does anyone else get the feeling that they are trying to make ISU into the #4 team if they win out? Say Bama beats Florida, Clemson beats ND, ISU beats OU. Your final 2 spots would come from A&M, ISU, OSU, ND. From that list, only ISU would have a conference championship, assuming OSU remains ineligible.

Nah. If anything, I think they are trying to minimize the fallout of Cinci not getting a shot. Move them back off the edge... And perhaps give OK a chance to move up if they beat them lol...

In no way will ISU make it with 2 losses. Bama will make it with a loss and are a lock. The winner of the ACC is a lock. FL is a lock if they beat Bama. ND with a loss (not a blowout) is close to a lock. OSU IMO, is still a lock.

Heck, the Big10 is meeting tomorrow, and IMO will relax the 6 game requirement to get OSU into the CC. If I was IU, I'd be pissed!

The top two PAC12 teams, #15 USC and #21 CO don’t face each other, and being in the same division won’t be able to meet in the conference championship game. At this point, all conferences should waive divisional requirements for their championship games.

I read that the vote will ne anonymous and will need unanimous approval. If that is the case, no way IU says yes.

Yep. And CO fans are pissed. It was USC that canceled the game, and because USC has more games, they'll get the nod for the CC (unless something has changed in the past few days)...

Big10 will change their rules tomorrow, and IU will get F'd.

8-2 Iowa State over group of 5 8-0 Cincinnati is ridiculous considering that Iowa St. lost to group of 5 La Lafayette.

I know it isnt likely, because we aren't built like that, but if OSU doesn't play and stays at 5-0 or even 6-0, the ACC should threaten to call off the ACC championship game and get two teams in...As much as I dont care about Clemson, they have an argument that their resume WITH two losses is better than a 6-0 OSU...should we fall in the game, our resume is better than OSU and should result in us flipping spots...but I can see the committee trying to fuck us and say that our win is devalued because of the injury to TL

See gif above.. lol

OSU hasn't played anyone but IU. And as much as I love IU, who knows what they are. And OSU struggled/squeaked that one out at home. I do agree they are likely one of the best 4, but they are getting gifted here. I'd love it if the ACC said, nope... or if Clemson all of sudden came down with Covid.

My fear is losing by more than 7 to Clemson, and getting left out for 2 SEC teams.

Listening to some of the pods, a lot of the guys think ND is in unless it’s really ugly. I disagree they cannot afford to get beat my multiple scores.

Yeah, can't see a scenario where we get in if we lose to Clemson by multiple scores. Gotta keep it close or win, the later of which is impossible if Lawrence is playing according to Clemson fans. I don't see him throwing for more yards than his backup did, but maybe he converts a few extra downs. Gotta find a way to slow that passing attack.

So who takes NDs spot? TAMU is 5th and lost to Bama by 28 and their “quality win” will be over a 2 loss Florida. Doesn’t compare to ND with a win over Clemson and a loss of 14-17 points. #6 Florida will drop with Bama loss. #7 ISU has 2 losses. Not taking #8 Cinci over 10-1 ND.

Not surprising, but fans still don't give us much of a shot....

I agree, still PTSD give me fear lol..

If FL wins, they're in of course, and Bama would be in as well.

As far as TAMU is concerned, they're a long shot.
Bama, at home, beat TAMU by 27
ND, at home, beat Clemson sans their starting QB, by 7 in 2OTs.

Bama has distanced themselves from the pack kicking everyone's ass, and the TAMU game was early. Still, TAMU hasn't looked dominating lately. We just need to not get blown out by Clemson.

The only way I see a path for Cinci is...
Bama blows FL out
Clemson blows us out, or ND beats Clemson (leaving only one ACC)
ISU gets beat by OK
TAMU get's beat by UT or looks very bad
Cinci blows Tulsa out

Bama wins we're in imo. I think Ohio St is in better shape than the analysts believe. Committee loves Ohio St.

Lets get one thing straight, regardless of the BIG rules IU is not getting screwed. They lost to OSU. OSU, with history to back it up, is not a one hit wonder and by all accounts should be in the top4.
The BIG needs to get off their ass and figure this out, this should have been done last week when Michigan cancelled their impending loss to Maryland. Someone in the BIG office should have said "Hmm OSU is in danger of missing our CG, perhaps we should come up with a contingency"

Don't get me wrong, if the BIG fucks this up I will laugh because the BIG would fuck up organizing a 2 car funeral. But I want them in, and when ND beats Clemson again I want to beat OSU in the Rosebowl.

Also LOLing at the people saying the Clemson game is going to be different because Lawrence is playing. To them I say ND left 10-20 points on the field. In previous years I would load up the alcohol for game night knowing full well ND would get curb stomped. Not this year fellas. Its kool-aid all the way, drink up. We about to get revenge on Bama for 12.

This is exactly why we had to win that game because we'll need all of those points this time around.

I’ve seen Clemson fans equally tout the fact they have their injured players on defense back for the title game will be huge. They were missing their two studs up the middle in Davis & Skalski. After ND’s first offensive TD on their first drive, they love pointing out that Clemson’s D held the Irish offense w/o a TD for 50+ minutes until the fourth quarter and even that was b/c they lost four more starters on defense. That’s a ton of ifs, ands, buts....so let’s agree that Clemson fan base is like every fan base in that their biases can explain away anything. We are all guilty of it. Just wanted to share the perspective I’ve seen on Clemson twitter.

I despise pOSU with all my being.

But I want them in the playoff for two reasons:

1. If we win the whole thing without pOSU in it, people will claim that our championship is tainted. They probably would be right.

2. pOSU gets in after only playing 5, 6 or 7 games any legitimate conversation of us not having a 13th data point disappears in the future.

That plus a win next Saturday will end the "join a conference!" BS for ever and ever.

Only cheating championships are tainted in my book.
Bama and Clemson are better than OSU.
If ND wins it all, haters can say whatever they want but I'll be happy to add Number 12 on my banner hanging over the Basement Mantle piece.

I don't get this mentality. First, under that logic every championship is tainted unless you play every top 10 team and win. But I get the point. Just who cares if someone says its tainted? The only group who will care in 3 years will be OSU fans and no one can stand them anyways lol. We still say 93 is an asterisk but no one even thinks of ND as a footnote in that conversation outside of ND fans.

Second point is just silly. Anyone who thinks this will set a precedent or remove criteria is naive. The 13 people in the room are going to judge it like they always do in the years going forward. It's unfortunate but true. So this doesn't help our case going fwd...

At the end of the day, OSU doesn't belong. They pass the eye test but they played half the games that every team in consideration has played. That's not 1 game or 2, thats 5. In my opinion allowing them in would be egregious but it is what it is.

Fuck Michigan but this was a ballsy move on their part and one way to stick it to their biggest rival. That's what makes a rivalry so good.

And I think you are naive if you don't think it moves the needle a little bit. I agree that it doesn't flip the discussion like a light switch, but it does move the needle. You don't think that one of the 13 people in that room will try to use our missing data point against us in the future? You don't think that when they do, someone will counter argue that what about pOSU in 2020? You really think that counter argument will have zero impact? I disagree. Actually, I think it moves the needle quite a bit.

I could give less than half a shit what people "claim." I don't care if the teams in the playoff are Cinci, Coastal Carolina, and Iowa State. Similarly, I don't care if our opponents have to forfeit because of COVID, etc. Nobody will remember that crap.
