Watching OSU boat race Nebraska. I honestly wonder if we could come within 17 points of them on a neutral field.

I didn’t see any quotes from BK after the game

I've got 1.
He said "maybe my wife knows more about what's going on around here than I do"

It was about some player's questions answered to the media and other things that she might handle but he looked perplexed after he said It.
I hope It will be taken in the context It should be, in the future...

I concur. Maybe some people checked out after being frustrated with our offense especially the QB play.

D line played very well and deep too. The DBs were on their guys but moremgreat throws and corresponding catches again by opponents receivers.

Glad to see us give in finally and run towards the end of the game.

Book is at best average and needs help. We have no other option otherwise Book would be replaced right about now. We benched Wimbush who hadn’t played as awful as Book has this season.

Less Finke please. He’s a nice mascot but he’s an inferior player at this level and we have several better options.

More two TE sets. Offense was vanilla again. Kelly needs to take back the playcalling.

Nice to seee CBo make some nice plays. More jAhmir please.

Clemson dropping and Nebraska is awful.

Ohio State up 38-0 and was playing hurry up before half to get to 45. Not cool. The buskers should start playing dirty.

Did I say Book stinks? I thought Tommy R was frustrating but now I Long for him. He knows how to not take a sack. Would even give Evan Sharpley a shot and he was awful.

Oh well at least we will be relevant for another couple of weeks.

Still basquing in the praise of our team effort last week. Would like, to listen in on what Kelly and Chip Long are saying about their QB play.

Not until later in the game. OL looked their best when they went zone as opposed to pulling.

Still a lot of errors up front though.

Book scrambles too early.

D-line it's nice to have you back. Beastly.

maybe we should join a conference

It's such a weird thing when partial fans of CFB, in general, say this to me after learning my Love. It's a long conversation they could care less about as If; they just care for the newest meme.
It's painful to see guys or gals like you not understand why we are independent.
It literally hurts the soul of my future grandchild's grandchildren to see your redundant behavior....

Typical '85 Bears game.

Perkins was unbelievable in the first half.

Lea/Elston were even better in the second half.

Book is who he is. He just might go 12-1 but I can't wait until Phil gets the keys.

TJ had a really nice game. His stock went up today.

C'Bo looked good on a few runs too.

Game ball to Lea/Elston & the DL for going straight 46 Defense on UVA.

I really thought people were exaggerating about QB's regressing in year 2 under Kelly but that's a real thing. I love Book and want him to succeed. I really hope he can get his confidence back next week. He wasn't terrible vs NM but then Georgia happened. Defense was fun to watch in the 2nd half.

To be fair, he started regressing last year.

It's miserable reading all the praise you guys type about our team these days.
It's as if I'm back in the era (Ara) of men.

We live to fight another day-Va is better than people thought with a great game plan-don't be like delusional Ga fans expecting a 40 point win and could we please support these guys better from the stands-real bad look of people sitting on their hands. Book will be fine when he gets a running game and gets used to being the QB at this place-now he understands the difficulty of the position-its more than just pulling the trigger on a play----much more! He'll be fine.

Book is hurting Book and hes not getting much help from Chip Long. The run game was fine today.

Books a very effective game manager. He’s pretty careful with the football and doesn’t make too many mistakes. He needs a complimentary. run game. The run game opened up in the back end of the second half but was fairly non existent through 3 quarters. We need to develop an effective run game to compete before bowl season. I say bowl season because our schedule took a big hit, we should win out. We have a ton of time to develop what lacks In Our offense

* Book has regressed. When he's comfortable and feeling it, he can be a very solid QB. Unfortunately, his pocket presence is atrocious and all it takes is a blitz to completely throw off his game.

* Career day for Tony Jones. Well deserved. Some really solid plays by C'Bo, as well.

* Not a huge day for Claypool. Hopefully the ankle doesn't become anything serious.

* Chris Finke has been so disappointing this year.

* Good to see Michael Young back in the mix. Hopefully he continues to settle in.

* Cole Kmet is such a stud.

* The OL played really well in the 4th quarter, opening up some giant holes for TJJ. Maybe they can build on that.

* Incredible game by the DL. Okwara and Kareem have finally arrived.

* The linebackers continue to get better.

* Feel bad for Crawford. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

* Troy Pride is a solid corner but he's never going to be that elite cover guy we were hoping for.

* Tariq Bracy played well again, I thought.

* Kyle Hamilton!!!!!

Yea.. Jerry was his first. and still has records for completions.

Jerry Rice came up with a quick thought that these young cats couldn't get unless they read books back in the day...

I love It to this day. "If ya look good, you feel good, If you feel good you play good".
Jerry was one of the OG's. He was perfectly dressed and well kept at all times.

On to Steve Young... Yes, Terrel had a game-winning TD in the playoffs against Green Bay and went to tears, I did too as I remember... He was a nobody! and that catch created the AB's of the league with the way Terrell went on to act like a fool.....

Don’t be like EVERY other ND message board by calling for Book’s replacement. That’s lazy thinking.

Book struggled...no doubt...but it’s not time to pull the plug on the kid. You truly want Phil J starting against SCum or scUM? Come on...you’re smarter than that.

Here’s the good news: we play Bowling Green next week. That should be a great opportunity for Book to get his mix right & his confidence up. Then...after securing an insurmountable lead...let Phil J get some 1st team reps and then finish the game out w/ the 2nd team.

That would set ND up for getting Book on track for SC and if...by chance...ND needed to go to Phil J...he will have hopefully increased his confidence to manage the game.

Ian needs to get out of his own head. Yes, he bailed on the pocket too early but he also stayed w/ the pocket too long as well (that cost him at least two sacks). When he was rolling out in the 2nd half, you could tell he was consciously trying to avoid tucking and running. The thing is...that was the play he should’ve tucked & run.

Patience is a virtue.

My post was in italics.

italics = not being serious = joke (sometimes nuanced, other times not) = lighthearted thought to temper seriousness

No, No It wasn't... but I apologize for not seeing your correction before my post.

My thoughts were just based on the way people say this 'Join a confernce' thing all the time.

I think the criticism is more appropriate for Kelly and the coaching staff. Book can certainly improve on the way he’s been performing lately, but he’s close to his ceiling. It’d be interesting to know what Kelly’s QBs really think of their coaching at Notre Dame. It hasn’t been great. Then again, one could argue Kelly does a good job maximizing the talents of lower-rated QBs. He just has a difficult time sustaining that success.

Did you seriously write that Book is playing worse than Wimbush did last year?

Clearly you are either drunk or don’t remember Wimbush games. The guy couldn’t even through an accurate check down for 1 yard. SMDH!

How do you know he’s close to his ceiling? The kid is a former 3-star recruit who bailed ND out in the Citrus Bowl and then saved the 2018 season. Now he has 14 games of film on him as a starter and we’re ready to toss him away b/c he’s had some struggles.

BK is far from perfect but the “QBs regress in year two” is a little too easy to explain away bad QB play.

Everett Golson regressed but what happened when he transferred to FSU if he was truly “under-coached”?

Malik Zaire regressed but what happened at UF if he was truly dealt a bad hand?

Brian Kelly is not the one who forced Deshone Kizer to come back overweight & out of shape relative to his breakout 2015 season.

What happened to Gunner Kiel when he left?

Brian Kelly can’t throw screen passes for Brandon Wimbush. The kid did his best but it wasn’t enough. He transfers to UCF where the presumed starter gets injured & he still gets beaten out by a true frosh? Is that BK’s fault?

As someone who said, "I can't wait until Phil has the keys", I wasn't talking about now. This is Books team, hopefully for the season. Hopefully they run the table.

But this ND is not a championship squad, next year's won't be either. The guys who can win a NC are coming in Tyree, Johnson, Baker, Fisher and Phil's replacement = Buchner.

The sooner Phil gets QB1 snaps, the better chance ND can win that NC in '21 or '22.
