Scout.com - College and High School Football, Basketball, Recruiting, NFL, and MLB Front Page

How's this for a jumbo athlete? Lansing Catholic Central's Tony Poljan stands 6-foot-6, 230-pounds and runs a 4.73.
At that size, he has played quarterback, defensive end and believe it or not, strong safety this season in addition to outside linebacker. He also is being recruited for basketball and holds an offer from Central Michigan for hoops. On the football side, there is also plenty of interest.
"The teams showing interest for football are Michigan State, Auburn, Purdue, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Minnesota and Iowa so far."
Poljan was supposed to visit Notre Dame earlier this year, but because his game was rained out the night before and was moved to Saturday, he was not able to make it.
"I have a visit reschedule for Notre Dame on October 4th," he said.
Being right there in Michigan's capitol, Poljan has also had contact with Michigan State. He camped there and visited earlier in the year.
"It was a great experience going there and being in the stadium. It was nice to see the kind of atmosphere the Big Ten provides."
Poljan can play multiple positions come college, but admits he likes playing quarterback. As for which sport he will play, or potentially juggling both, that is still to be decided as well.
"It's football season so I love playing football right now. Basketball season, I'll love playing basketball too, so I haven't made any decision yet. I just love competition."

Few things:

- This kid is not a QB. Can't imagine him playing anything but TE, DE or OLB at the college level.

- Hard to tell if he's good or not from his film. He is much bigger and more athletic than anyone on the field. That is probably the reason they have him playing QB.

- A kid that loves basketball and lives in Lansing... hmm... is he pretty much an MSU lock if they offer?

Doesn't look like a DE to me. He's skinny. I could see TE if he has ball skills.

The D Zone: Evan Paputa's state championship predictions

Division 5-

Lansing Catholic vs Grand Rapids West Catholic (4:30 Saturday): For the first time ever, all four semi-final teams entered with identical 12-0 records. Lansing Catholic and Grand Rapids West Catholic prevailed to set the stage for a 13-0 showdown. It will end in triumph for one and tragedy for the other. Lansing Catholic quarterback Tony Poljan may be deceiving with his 6-foot-6, 225-pound (plus) size; he can throw and run it. Look for him to be the difference.

Please don't be the 2nd coming of JJ Watt. Just go to MSU, use up a scholly and be a career backup but, uh, best of luck?

Kid got a couple of offers since he decommitted from Minnesota: Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Nebraska.

MSU would be hard to beat I'd imagine seeing as he's a Lansing kid. Reminds me a bit of the kid from Clarkston they took last tear Cole Chewins, kid played TE in HS and is probably 6'8" but skinny as a whippet. He's redshirt OL now for Sparty. They might do the same thing with Poljan if they reckon his frame can handle it, he still looks like a basketball player.
