Agreed. I don’t think we win these games unless we have a new OC with free reign and a new Oline coach. Kelly needs to sit back and be a CEO only (and his clock management at the end of the first half left a lot of room for improvement). Lea is a blessing and he had the D ready. We need his counterpart on O.

Who would be in the running for OC? Maryland’s OC (he’s young and seems hungry) would seem to be a good choice if that was the type of system one wanted to go with.

UGa is gonna get dominated by Bama, it won't be close. I'll be here when it happens. They do have NFL talent...that's 3 years away from playing in the NFL. Only guy that's remotely close to going is D'Andre Swift, and he was on full display. They have 2 5* freshman wideouts that just aren't ready to dominate yet. Bama however, has 4-5 guys -just on offense- that are going in the 1st round next year. Jerry Jeudy is the best WR I've seen since Julio Jones at this level, and Henry Ruggs is destroying teams ala Tyreek Hill. Najee Harris was the #2 OVERALL player in his class, he's fuckin Derrick Henry reincarnated. They also have Jaylen Waddle, who's gonna go in the 1st round of the 2021 draft. Not to mention Tua, the best QB prospect in a while imo. ND doesn't have that level of talent, they just don't. It was abundantly clear in the game with Clemson last year, Justyn Ross, Tee Higgins, Travis Etienne, and Trevor Lawrence made play after play downfield, and they're all still aying for Clemson...until they get drafted in the 1st round of the 20/21 drafts. Every one of those guys I've listed is better than ANY player on ND's offense. I'm a ND fan thru and thru, but it's not realistic to think THIS team can beat those teams. Georgia is that next tier, and I believe ND is in the back of that 2nd tier with Georgia, but Bama and Clemson are at the top and I feel like there's a sizable gap between them and everyone else. They've just recruited insanely well. ND has some incredible classes coming, and you had that with what is here, I legit think we play for, and win, a CFP title in the next 3-5 years. You put Jordan Johnson and Chris Tyree with that team last night, and upgrade the QB play to a Tyler Buchner, shit we win that game. I think we will be on the Bama/Clemson level very soon, it just isn't now imo.
You just had to do It didn't ya. I really don't think you're a fan at all. I think you like the aggravation of poking the evil that exists... You think it's cute when It's actually exhausting.

Would much rather win out, & be the team on the outside looking in for the playoff rather than get in to be honest. Alabama and Clemson are a different class right now. Win a NY6 Bowl game and finish in the top 4. Would be most successful 3 year run going back to 88-90.

Honestly couldn’t agree more NY6 bowl is the goal here and get another shot against a talented team. We just aren’t ready for playoff yet and if we get embarrassed again we may never get back in. Only half kidding

The "blind hatred" won't go away ever. The "hatred" wont go back to silent shadow dwelling until we impose multiple years of dominance on the big teams. We're still in a close-yet-so-far stasis.

Right now, we remain the easiest target in college football to criticize, because we remain relevant and beloved for being Notre Dame, independent, continue to lose the elite games, but you can't legitimately call us terrible like a Michigan squad. There's a reason we still don't really hear U$C's name dragged through the mud - 2003, 2004. We've gotten away with being a storied program for decades when our overall play was terrible, even though we have fielded some talented teams throughout the years, especially most recently. So the ghosts remain.

Even if we had won the game last night, fans would have just said Georgia isn't actually that good. Heck, some people are already saying that a 4-0 Georgia isn't that good, in part because they played a close game with us.

We need to pull a Clemson to shut up the naysayers and we can't do that until we start winning against the big boys consistently. Everyone is tired of waiting for this to happen, no one more than us true fans.
As much as I wanna micro-manage your post, in my mind I feel you have some truth to some of your thoughts.

Remember Clemson Lost to Pittsburgh and still went on to win the Ship. 2016.

This Is like saying we are afraid of winning the games we play. Thank God you guys don't play for us, or even understand what it's like to be winners.

We will be fine. We need a bit more talent. Book didnt play bad last night but I dont think we can win with a guy like him at quarterback.

I'm really proud of the team and in particular the defense.

It’s only week 3 by the end of the year hopefully this team is on fire and has a ton of confidence and will be more prepared.

Michigan's loss to us was nothing in the "perception" of how they were rated week ~10.

We control our own destiny, I'll bet on it. We need to roll though and get that same "perception" by cleaning the slate.

And I think we can after what I saw last night.

OSU was ranked #16 in the first CFB poll that comes out week 6. They won it all.

I'll bet anyone we win out and we're in.

So proud of the way the team fought. Everyone played their hearts out. We belonged on the field and I bet those Georgia players that were tweeting last year that we didn’t belong in the conversation are thinking a little different now. Even with our injuries, and all the penalties we went blow for blow with them.
Years ago OMM said Golson was limited because he played the QB position like a point guard. I understood and agree with the comparison, Book has a little bit of that too. Doesn’t trust his pocket and gets happy feet and misses a lot of reads because of it. Also limits his ability to make plays downfield. Dude battles tho and I’m not mad at him.
Coach Kelly was EXACTLY right in his postgame comments when he said, “ This was not a defining game. I saw who you were tonight. Next week will say more about who we are. This is our defining week!” Bring on UVA. It’s a loss in a game we had opportunities in, but there were a lot of dogs in Gold Helmets too! We showed up on the biggest stage of the year so far.

I just think you’re wrong about Bama dominating UGA, but what do I know? I thought we’d win last night. I think it’s going to be hard to find anyone other than Bama fans that agree that Bama will thoroughly dominate UGA

This is where I’m at after last night’s game too. 11-1 with this loss gets us in just like 12-0 would have...this team’s margin for error really hasn’t changed. Some blowouts along the way as well certainly wouldn’t hurt.

10th in new Coaches poll. Seems about right. Auburn and Florida ahead but they play each other in a couple of weeks and then have tough schedules.

Postgame Thoughts:
1) I am proud of how this team fought, hanging in there, proving many people wrong, and the ND fanbase should not be mad about this loss.
2) If ND had a better third quarter, we win.
3) Too many penalties, 12 for 85 yards, and Eichenberg had 5.
4) It will be tough to win any game when you rush for 46 yards. Dex is missed from last year and Tyree is next year. I'd like to see Kyren Williams get more looks.
5) I'd like to see more of Lawrence Keys and less of Finke at slot.
6) Welcome back Kmet, hell of a game.
7) Kareem and Okwara have been too quiet this year. I think all they need is 1 game to breakout and they will be hard to stop.
8) Drew White and JOK are settling in and performing.

For those who think the sky is falling and questioning Kelly did you watch Michigan yesterday?

My biggest concern is how they address the rushing game moving forward.

For all the fans who are still bitching about Kelly and wanting to get rid of him...your an idiot. Let me guess you still want PJ Fleck.

Go Irish!!

The only people that think Alabama will dominate UGA are huffing paint in shop class in Alabama. They have had two epic collapses against them the last two years. I can't recall anything changing in that time

A few points maybe adding perspective: Although there remain countless moronic jerks out there around the country who continue to spew brainless troll hatred vs Notre Dame, if we read the post-game commentary by many less biased individuals we can get a different take on how that game went down. I'll mention just a few.

1. The victory inspired one coaches poll voter (maybe the home coach but still) to vote Georgia number 1 over Alabama and Clemson. All sorts of analytical irrelevancies can be "but but butted" about that, but it indicates a psychology --- Georgia beat a team very closely, which was so good that it shows they are a potential number 1;

2. A guy on Sports Illustrated said:

"Just imagine it: The third-best team in the country meets the seventh-best team in the country in an on-campus College Football Playoff quarterfinal. It’s a do-or-die game. The winner advances down a path to a potential title, and the loser is a goner. The stadium is packed to the gills. Fans are hanging on every play. A national audience is squirming on their couches during a second-half nail-biter.

Would be cool, right?

Well, we got it Saturday night in a red-basked Athens, when No. 3 Georgia mounted a defensive-led second half comeback and then hung on to beat No. 7 Notre Dame, 23–17. We got a playoff game, with playoff teams in a playoff atmosphere. If it walks like a playoff and if it talks like a playoff, is it a playoff? The only thing missing was the reality that for some silly reason we don’t have an eight-team playoff with quarterfinals on college campuses."

Meditate on THAT take for a bit.

3. On Bleacher Report's site a headline read: "No. 7 Notre Dame lost the high-profile nightcap at No. 3 Georgia—but the Fighting Irish managed to come away from that L still smelling like roses. In defeat, Notre Dame was arguably the more impressive team."

And then the article said: "Most were expecting Georgia to win this game somewhat comfortably, but Notre Dame had the ball with a chance to win in the closing seconds. The Irish have gotten a bad reputation for not showing up in big games over the past few years, but they went toe-to-toe with Georgia in a true road game. If they happen to win out from here, that won't be forgotten."

Disagree all one wants --- these words are part of the football world atmosphere out there now.

4. Lastly, after the game, Georgia Right Tackle Isaiah Wilson said: "The level of competition was out there. They're a Top Ten team. Talent is there."

... let's be proud of the boys, everyone. We have talented warriors here.

I agree but I think SEC gets two in this year let’s hope one is Georgia, Clemson is a lock. So the fourth spot would be Oklahoma, Ohio State and US

Wow. The comments are really tough to read. I knew the team was hated, but the blind hatred is crazy. Zero rational thoughts.

Yea...laugh at 'em. Pretty sure critical thinking isn't their game, so, the rest of their life must be awesome....lol.

You're right man, there's only one way to be a Notre Dame fan. Just blindly believe we're gonna beat the juggernaut teams, and make excuses every time it doesn't happen. And it never happens, btw. We don't recruit well enough, they have NFL dude after NFL dude, end of story. I bleed Blue and Gold man, so fuck off. Anyways, that's my last post, I take the time to explain my lines of thinking, in detail, and just because it doesn't blindly follow the ND is gonna win it all logic I'm apparently not even a fan lol. Wake up, they recruit better, and we aren't on that level yet. It's not a dick, don't take it so hard.

It'll be decided by officials in the pork tho...

NO! THEY DON'T RECRUIT BETTER KID. The grey shirt better they JUCO better. They make things complicated for a California judge to decipher the reality of kids/men. Let's really get to the root's of the issue at hand.
We as ND nation don't need fans of a certain caliber. We just need higher IQ type fans to be what they have always been. Good humans. Non-prejudicial. life-changing.

LOL . just kiddin....
