We’ll rationalize how long we were in it or how close it was. Defense played lights out against an amazing offense. Offense needed to do more. Should have ran the two minute offense all night.

And although nobody wants to say it, losing this game was a blessing in disguise. If we did make the CFP we aren't contending with Bama or Clemson. Better to get into a major bowl game outside the CFP and get a win, for recruiting sake. With the great classes coming in 20 and 21, we will have our chance.

I can’t really complain. Obviously disappointed we lost but if we all sit back and think about it, we are better than we think we are. It’s a positive that comes out from this. Our D is better than we think and our O needs work which is OK! We’re in a good spot moving forward IMO.

Defense was good enough tonight. Georgia WRs made some nice catches but the DBs hung in there. Myron was a beast on the inside tonight. They just couldn’t get any rest.

Offense just doesn’t have enough playmakers and to many times behind the sticks. RB depth is depleted so no threat of a run game. Too many penalties leading to third and longs. Claypool got involved way too late in the game. Finke was a disappointment. Line wasn’t bad in pass protection but to many false starts overshadow their play.

Where was Javon McKinley after his breakout last game? Did he even play?

GOOD: the D, ST, Claypool & Kmet

BAD: Book, Finke, Long & Long

Long gets two mentions because that's how truly fucking bad he was in the 2nd half tonight.

That said, we're better than I thought we were.

Losing wasn't a blessing....

But they showed that we are there with some of the top teams. This is a defense that stepped up to the plate and controlled an awesome running game. I hope that even us not winning this game shows recruits ND can ball.

Moral victories are for LOSERS.

Jawga is not Bama or Clemson. Closely winning or losing against them is a far cry from either of the big dogs.

Don't see how we get enough good victories to put us in CFP contention from here on out (UVA, Michigan, USC at best fringe top 25 teams) but we surprised a lot of haters today. I can only stomach so many 'almosts' tho at the end of the day. Gotta go stick it to UVA at home next week and push through for the fourth 10 win season out of five, we're good enough to reach that milestone for sure.

Imagine if we had the equivalent on O. Which is impossible when required to run a Kelly system.
You can run a Kelly system and not go scared and vanilla (3rd quarter) or full potato (part of 4th quarter). That's 100% on Long.

I'm glad it wasn't a blowout, but just once, can ND under Kelly win a big game? They are in a better place now than before him, by far, but give us 1 big unexpected win! (2012 Oklahoma was too far enough to count anymore!) lol

This is a pathetic example of expectations under Kelly.

Positives: Lea's game plan, Bilal, JOK, DL pressure, most of the defense, Book's play in the 4th, Claypool, Kmet, ST - Doerer was money and Leonard was putting some juice on it. Kelly chewing the refs out.

VERY PROUD of our team. I wonder like Michael Jackson once did.

Book was good, if we had a running game he would be great

OL minus all the false states was great

Defense played outstanding

Special teams was really good

I expect us to win out and then get a terrible match up in a bowl game

The Good
Kmet was the man.
The linebackers stepped up tonight
The special teams helped us
Chase was chase
Coach Lea doesn't care who he plays the man can coach.
The team never gave up and played their hearts out
The o-line in pass protection for the most part.

The Bad
The play calling Late second quarter to the 4th quarter. This is on Long for backing in a corner. And Kelly for not stepping up and telling him to man up.
The o-line in run game and false starts. Liam was just bad.
Pride needs to learn to turn his head around.
Book missed some easy throws. He is not a super star QB but you can still win with him.
The running game ugh.

Best of all our guys made this a game when most didn't give them a chance. I thought we would lose by the spread. The guys played well. The vibe the defense plays with man is amazing.

We didn’t run very many run plays which I’m extremely impressed with. Chip Long showed a great offense in the first half. I thought he could have expanded on that. There’s nothing wrong with running a trickery play twice.

I’m confident that ND can play anyone to a decent game. Barring injury obviously and maybe Bama, haha.

Credit to the team. We are not soft. Screw all the posters who thought we'd get blown out based off of the first two games. Grow a spine. 90% of this board had us getting blown out. You're a part of the problem with your battered fan syndrome. Grow a pair of balls.

Dude?

Man, when they got the ball back and had 2 minutes to drive the field I got that 2012 Oklahoma feeling...I really thought it was coming. But anyone in here that says ND would stay in the same stratosphere as Bama or Clemson you're either drunk or need to be. Every skill player from both of those offenses is a 1st or 2nd round draft pick, we have maybe 1. That's not even counting the 10-15 1st round defensive players they probably have between them. It would be last years Clemson game, but worse.
