I moved Rodas Johnson to SDE, Travon Walker to SDE, and I think mostly anyone that's a DT/DE I've moved to DE. As you can see above ND has 13 out 15 guys returning on the DLine so a huge class that Elston projected might not totally happen. I still think ND over-recruits the position as they have in the past and takes 5-6 guys. Also something to highlight is the fact that out of 39 guys offered, only 5 are committed and 2 are committed to ND. So it is very early in the process with ND's board. Obviously its disappointing to hear Bill Norton go to UGA, Joseph Anderson's news, Nana is trending away, and Ani Izuchukwu didn't include us in his top 3. However, ND accomplished its goal of getting an amazing DT tandem. ND is sitting pretty with a ton of SDE like Joseph Anderson (if his books are turned around), Rodas Johnson, Noah Potter (if he's not a take at OSU), Howard Cross (if ND actually decides to recruit him hard), Marcus Hicks, and Adam Berghorst. WDE, I'm not as confident about, but like many have mentioned, its still 8 months away from signing day. We could scoop up Nana, Colt Ellison, and Rodas Johnson by mid may and this board would completely flip its script on DLine recruiting.

Also, I'd like to add a few questions about a few non-offered recruits. Beau Robbins, he's a 90 on 247, 5.8 on Rivals, and 81 on ESPN, has one big academic offer in Northwestern, and yet has only 14 offers and doesn't seem to be recruited much by ND. He's 2 hours away, been to ND twice, ND is his dream school, and he's at a position of need. Is he totally overrated? Is it a character issue? Books?

Also, Casey Kline out of Southern California. 90 on 247, 5.8 on Rivals, and 81 on ESPN. He's projected as a 6'4'' WDE/OLB. His entire family are ND fans, they came out as a group to ND last fall, but no news on how the visit went or anything like that. And he only has 5 offers which is odd for such a highly ranked kid. Very curious what happens with these two guys

This has probably been the biggest hyped up offseason for recruiting only to start seeing the reality seep in...books/home state school.

1.) Early in the cycle, ND nation starts getting extremely negative about recruiting. Every cycle. Happened last spring prior to us going on a run of recruits that included Austin and Lamb.

2.) A lot of big time programs lack commitments at this point. Folks just need to pay attention to the landscape of recruiting, not just ND's.

Again, it's April 10th. If somehow this is too much for folks, 8 MONTHS from ESP. Might want to take a breather from recruiting, because this is nothing.

I mostly agree, but early recruiting is now more important than ever before due to the new Junior-OV rule. Kids are deciding sooner, and while it's early to say how big of a factor that will be because it's year 1, it's going to be a significant change IMO.

So I'm 50% on the "cool it, it's April", 30% on the "well kids will be deciding sooner so this is concerning", and 20% on the "we were leading or near leading for some really good talent that seems to be slipping" bandwagons.

Life is better on multiple bandwagons FYI.

Not necessarily. It will probably push up more decisions that were going to take place, after OV's in the fall, to the summer. Since those OV's can be taken earlier. But, it's actually delaying a lot of Winter/Spring decisions to the summer. So, they can now take those OV's and still commit prior to the season.

This is not just an ND issue. Look at OSU (3), PSU (2), and USC (1). And as Brian Polian said in an interview, we are going to be holding onto a majority of our OV's for the Fall and the gameday experience.

What's ironic, at least to me, is everyone is focused on the D-line.

IMO the real problem is...... whiffing on the o-line. Will not beat a dead horse on this, But Kelly and Quinn need to close on 4 quality o-line in this class. They really need the guys they are leading for to sign.

One potential issue is, if the o-line struggles this year because of losing McG and Q, recruits may perceive Quinn as a poor coach and decide to ply their trade elsewhere.

Wiltfong currently has us landing Carroll, Correll, Kristofic, and Olmstead. O-line is the least of our worries. Our dream D-line class has fallen apart, we may not lead for any of our top skill position players, and our best safety prospects are trending away. After spring ball is over, our coaches need to get on the freaking ball because everyone but Quinn is getting their lunch eaten by our competitors.

Scratch that one. Following his visit to ND, Wilfong switched his CB to Buckeyes.

I imagine during the BG game the Irish will be receiving some verbals. O/U at 3 (SWAG) - No?

Not worried about it yet, I am sure they are still evaluating, but I hope we hear something soon on the QB situation.

Adam Friedman at Rivals posted that this should be a good week for ND fans. An Olmstead/Avajon combo for the 19' class and Drew Pyne starting the 20' class, would be a nice week.

There was buzz coming out of his visit at BGI that we were doing really well here and then this tweet hit Saturday

Do you think that changes their '19 approach at all? I would hope not (bird in the hand thinking), but was curious either way.

No I don't. Apparently the staff is very comfortable taking it's time with 19' QB recruiting. Apparently they don't read ND message boards, lol.
