If they're really looking at him, there's going to be all kinds of roster movement this off season or something worse... which I can't even type... is a possibility to happen in the '19 class. Either way, don't want it to happen.

Definitely not a corner. His 2019 film is basically him playing LB. So seems like a rover candidate or maybe safety. Needs to add some weight to play rover though IMO. Wonder how he slipped through the cracks?

I went back through Elko/Lea's Rovers at Wake and they would target 6-2/185 ATH (WR/S) for the spot. If that's still the case, 6-3/195 is the new 6-2/185 because Lea can shop in a more expensive aisle now.

Are you thinking that someone will decommit or is it more likely someone on the current roster is gone?

I'm worried about a few people. Change happens, rosters don't work out like you forecast but there are a few guys that haven't done anything at ND yet that I would hate to see not be successful at ND. There's just too much going on when we know what the numbers are.

I think he's solid (and Pops is even more solid) but you can only imagine the DM sliders he's fighting off daily. Of all the pipeline guys in the ND Universe, Hamilton is behind only 5*Phil for me. I really like all of the LB's - DB's in this class and the safeties - LB's in the '18 class. I want all of them to contribute. But as I said above, something just doesn't feel right with the numbers being as they are... or maybe I just don't know what it's like to watch a staff properly over-recruit in a proper fashion to create and maintain contingencies. I'd like to give the staff credit for that but we're in uncharted waters here.

Wouldn't that be nice. First to have a gunner who isn't your starting WR who you can't lose and to have a scholarship available for such a luxury.

No names. No info to share. Some guys are playing, some are not, more guys are being recruited than we think there are spots for, just things that make you go hmmmmm.

I think this is just the results of BK making the decision to open up recruiting more last couple of years, so the numbers look askew. They probably think between those that don't accept, 5th years, medicals and transfers they'll balance out. Until they run into the perfect recruiting storm.

This is just diligent recruiting, IMO. They've been communicating with him for awhile now, so they clearly like the prospect. They haven't offered him a scholarship, so they understand the scholarship crunch. This is what any good staff would do. Keep recruiting players that can improve your roster. Whether you take them or not, is a decision for down the road. I'm extremely glad the staff is doing more of this.

BK does not even mention him in press conferences. When they ask for feedback about who is close to getting a foot in the door it is like he has mentioned most of the young guys who haven't played but never Allen.

Well, they've actually been recruiting him for awhile. He just wasn't taking visits and now since he is, it's making more headlines. And, add to that, he's starting to get big Pac 12 offers and it's become more news worthy. This isn't being put out by ND writers, it's the west coast writers.

With that said, I don't think it's as much of a conspiracy theory as it is a contingency plan. Which all good recruiting staffs put together. If there is space, they want some guys to target late. He seems like a good option.

It is probably just that these guys needed more work on their size and BK has saved there cameo roles for the last few weeks.

In past years they have mailed it in once we get to a certain number, only to lose folks (either commits, or from the roster), and then have no solid backup plan.

For a while now, I've thought this class would be bigger than originally thought. I think, or at least I hope it's more of a case of current roster changes, than because of losing commits.

I really hope this is just a case of RSing. I'm really surprised that we haven't seen him at all given the 4 game allowance.

It is interesting how the new four-game rule affects perception of where freshmen stand on the depth chart.
In the past we would have just chalked up Allen and Lenzy getting zero reps all season to them being redshirted. But now the fact they haven't even had a couple cameos - and neither saw action against FSU or Syracuse, right? - does start to get a little worrisome.

As for recruiting, I imagine things will heat up again when the regular season ends and coaching poaching season begins, but - with the early signing day - there's not a ton of time left for flipping nonsense. Our class feels pretty well locked down at this point.

I do hope we can make some hay off this season in the 2020 class though. I would take Dexter Williams' film personally to every elite RB in the nation. And make sure pass rushers know about our crew.

Just as an FYI, Coach Kelly gave a snippet of what his week is gonna be like and mentioned “staying” to recruit. I think early this week as in, Sun-Wed you’ll probably see him visiting Asa Turner in Southern California followed by a visit to Northern California to see Isaiah Foskey and Isaiah Rutherford. Just a guess but an educated one because of the interest by ND in those prospects. Curious to see where all the coaches head this week and maybe it’ll give some insight on what’s happening with the rest of the 2019 class. Exciting stuff!

Monday or Tuesday we’ll start seeing things on Twitter and the recruiting services about where BK is. That’ll give us an idea of Asa Turner and some other guys that we aren’t sure if they’re being recruited still. Should be a very informative few weeks.
