Oklahoma State got a very raw deal too. Texas and OU over them is 100% money driven and not merit driven.

Alright, didn't take long, but the frustration has passed a bit. Thoughts on the tournament?

Should be good - brackets are pretty balanced.

Anyone else going to be in Vegas for it?

Yayy get to play Hampton first round of NIT

Should win that easily, then a run of probably PSU and Marquette. Good match-ups there.

Hopefully we can pull a decent crowd. I'd think the students would want to see Matt and Bonzie off, but we'll see.

I don't know why anyone seriously expected a 14 loss team to make the tournament.

I think people assumed that we'd be ranked ahead of a team we beat in all the metrics and that we actually beat when we played them in their building without our best two players.

How many cans of food to get into this game?

$5 bucks entry with a $10 concessions credit?

I might as well go...nothing else to do in this cold weather.

This is what it boils down to. I have no complaints if Cuse is on the couch too.

ND's gonna win it by beating:

Penn St
Oregon
Nebraska

Then the winner of the "I Hate ND Bracket" featuring SC / Stanford / BC / LSU.

Sounds like a dream football season, not a basketball tourney.

Not sure who screwed us most. Davidson by stealing a bid, or the committee by taking Syracuse over ND. ND had the same conf record, head to head win, and performed better in the last 12. No consideration of Bonzie injury given IMO when grading these two teams against each other.... I can sorta understand the other teams ahead of us, but Syracuse... lol... MTSU, NMSU, Louisville, and USC should have gotten in over Syracuse if they were going to weigh RPI (assuming they did with Cuse over ND)....

That was my rant, i'm done, moving on....

GO IRISH in the NIT lol

This is definitely a pattern. Recall 2015.

Since seeding began in the NCAAT in 1979 there have been six ACC champions with 5 losses on selection Sunday. Four of these got a 1 seed; one of them got a 2 seed; and one (us in 2015) got a 3 seed. Furthermore plenty of ACC champions with six losses (e.g. UNC 2016) got 1 seeds.

We don't "deserve" to be in the tournament this year. But we deserve to be ranked ahead of Syracuse.

finally over the being left out shit....

Both the Dance and the NIT have some pretty interesting groupings. Glad ND got a numbers one seed and the home games that come with it.

So who's doing the IE brackets this year?

This honestly was a bigger screw job than what just happened this year. Because not only were we SOMEHOW a 3 seed, we were stuck in the region with the absolute strongest #1 seed. That was such a joke.

Also note, 10 loss UNC (with home loss to Wofford) is a 2 seed this year. This committee is an absolute joke. Just add Syracuse getting in to the long list of mind boggling choices they’ve made.

Every year there are several teams that get screwed in the minds of their fans. It can always be argued both ways. It happens to be our year. Beat Ball State or IU and this is probably a mute point.

Ya I get that it does happen every year and it just sucks that a team we beat at their home court got in right ahead of us. I think that’s what hurts the most. We are clearly better then cuse but I guess the committee members didn’t think so

I read a tweet yesterday and someone said if the committee is just going to judge you on big wins then just win the big ones and limp your way through the others. Makes a good point seems like the committee is just looking for big wins. I.E. Oklahoma-big wins terrible losses

I don't mind that we didn't make it. There are plenty of reasons for us not to be. I think for me, and many others, it's the teams that got in over us. If ND doesn't get in, how can you justify Oklahoma and Syracuse. I feel of OSU as well, same boat.

That tip by Gibbs is gonna run through my mind everytime I remmeber this season in the future. Still can’t believe it didn’t drop

That BS foul call on Gibbs is what sticks in my head. UNC can suck a fat cock - I hope they lose in the first round by 50. But they won't - that bracket was put together on a silver platter for Roy Williams. Between Williams and Boeheim you gotta love how the NCAA rewards bad behavior. ND is the antithesis of what the NCAA stands for - but I'm sure Jenkin's rant had nothing to do with our snub.

Louisville and ND are both clear takes over Syracuse - makes about as much sense as ASU. No problem if a ton of other teams get in over us but Oklahoma and Syracuse are the most glaring levels of BS out there. 8 SEC teams also a stretch and a half.

I was prepared to miss the dance - didn't think we earned it. What stings is seeing people suck worse than us and get in - especially that slime bag Boeheim. Must have some dirty pics of committee members or something.

Idk if anyone saw this interview after the game last night but brey talks about the 6 new faces they have coming in next year
https://youtu.be/xhW-pQvPVHc

Juwan Durham the 7 foot center that transferred here has gained 20 pounds since he he got on campus. He’s gonna be an exciting player to watch next year.

Also this summer we are doing a trip overseas which will give us 10 extra practices before the season starts.

Last time we went on a trip overseas which was 4 years ago(the NCAA allows you to do overseas trips every 4 years) that year we won 30 games with Patty and grant. And the year before that we went 15-17 so can history repeat itself? I hope so

Damn that sucks. Thank you Bonzie for risking your NBA draft position to try and get ND into the tournament. You represent everything good about ND and I am really proud of the career you’ve had. I look forward to watching you having a long career in the NBA! Can we please change his profile to “ND Man”

I hate to second guess their care but wtf. Farrell came back too soon also - doctors need to be making those decisions, not players.

Bonzie will go down as an all time favorite in my book. Might actually watch some NBA games next year to keep up with him.

As much as I'd like to see him in the League. He's destined to be an overseas player.

So what are we thinking for a starting 5 next year? My guess would be:

PG: Gibbs
SG: Rex
SF: Harvey
PF: Mooney
C: Durham

Djogo/Burns seems like the veteran guard and big man who could come off the bench, but we really need a couple of our true frosh to come in ready to play.

If Durham can live up to his pre-college hype and Rex can take a step this off season in the offensive game, that can be a tournament team.

Hearing that Harvey might not even be available next year and could do a redshirt. So with that said I think it could be

PG:Gibbs(hubb will be backup and get playing time I think)
SG:Rex( Goodwin and carmody will defiantly get some time) also think Gibbs will play a lot of time at SG with Hubb taking over the PG position
SF:Djogo?( this is assuming Harvey won’t be available) Goodwin and carmody could play SF too.
PF:Mooney( Nate laz will be a really good player and is a better stretch 4 then Mooney)
C: Durham and only Durham I hope(Burns when Durham needs rest)

IF the freshman and Durham can turn the corner and become college players this could be a very good team. Going to be a lot of players coming off the bench which will be nice for rest. This is also assuming none of the freshman redshirt and doesn’t seem like that is the plan right now.

On a side note this team in 2019-2020 is gonna be really really good. And if we can somehow snag a high rated PF next years class(like Stewart) it will be championship caliber team. Even without a 5* PF that team will be really good
