Amazing pass from Rex to Torres. Only problem is that, it was Torres.

Also shout out to the announcers for not being afraid to expose these ahole officials.
Going on a total ego trip right now.

3-17. Lets just keep gunning 3's from 4 feet behind the line. Brilliant.

Frustrating game, had a chance to take the lead at one point and then a couple bad calls and bad shots later and it's out of hand. Some winnable games coming up, need to get back to how they played last week quickly.

I still think we get to 9-9 and hopefully have Bonzie for ACC Tournament. We can win the next four before UVA:

at Boston College
vs Miami
at Wake Forest
vs Pitt
at Virginia

If we go 9-9, we are going to be anywhere from the 7-10 seed for the ACC Tournament so we'll play another bubble-type team first and then someone like UVA/Duke/UNC/Clemson in the next round. Not going to be easy to get two good wins.

Went about as to be expected: We stayed in it, guards got tired, officials got Carolina blue in a key stretch, they pulled away.

We're not good enough to overcome that much stink from our guards. But, luckily Harvey will hopefully be back at a perfect time. Need more options to rest our guards. Plus, gives us the ability to play some small ball again with potential scorers at every position (yes, I'm giving Rex the benefit of the doubt).

In order of Priority:

1.) Win the next four
2.) Pull for BC, NC State, Syracuse, and Florida State to stay as Quadrant 1 or 2 wins
3.) Hope Indiana and Ball State stay out of Quad 4 Territory.

BC should be interesting. I'm more worried about that Saturday than I am the Miami game right now. If we get the win at BC, I think we get this done.

I agree that I think we can go 9-9 but we haven’t beaten anyone on the season other then whichita state which also doesn’t look as good now. Yes they will factor in bonzie and Farrell and Harvey missing time but we are 1-7 against winning teams in ACC play that’s pretty bad don’t you think? I think it’s gonna be very hard for us to make tourney unless we win 4 more games and 3 in acc tourney that means we would have beaten at least a top tier team

Indiana is playing better, and should win the next two IL, @Iowa..... but @Nebraska and OSU will be tough. Going two of four will keep them at .500 in league play, but not sure that's enough. I can see a team like IU being pesky in the Big10 Tournament though.

BSU has a great schedule. They get both Toledo and WMU at home, and the other teams aren't worth a crap IIRC. Wouldn't be surprised if they went 6-0.

Agreed, but I think they'll factor Bonzie in very heavily if he does return.

If we go 9-9 and he does not return, I agree that we would probably need to make a run to the ACC Finals to get in since our resume is pretty bad for a bubble team. With him back, I really think they'll judge us completely differently and if we can get two wins then we will make it. Or if we smoke a team like Syracuse by 20 then lose a tight one to Duke the next round, I still think we would have a solid chance.

I think if we win last 4 and only win 2 game in ACC Tournament we will be seating on pins and needles come selection day. Get 3 wins and I think we go from 50% chance to about 70% of getting in. First things first win @BC which won’t be a cake walk

Two games in a row Brey is lighting up the officials - you gotta be sucking pretty bad to get Brey worked up. Took a screen shot of shot clock at zero with ball in hand of the UNC player (that series we kicked it to the back court and they scrambled to (not) get the shot off, rebounded and scored. How is that not even reviewed? Not a single review all night?

Geben had 18 points and 7 rebounds in 17 minutes - why 17 minutes? Two quick fouls early. Gibbs either fouled the guy before the shot or the foul was on Geben for that ridiculous continuation plus one play - not even close. We do not foul much but had 16 called versus their 15 last night.

For such a good league it is just unfathomable how bad the officiating is - across the board if you watch other ACC games. The only constant is licking Coach K and Roy's balls.

All that said and done - you don't win shooting 5-34 from the field and 12-23 from the charity stripe. Mooney missing three in a row was the total back breaker - 6:49 left and down FOUR and then misses three in a row - woof. Outscored 7-20 from that point. Shoot 80% instead of 52% from FT and that is a completely different game.

Take out Gibbs and the rest of the team was 5-14 from FT, take out Mooney and the rest were 4-21 from three - I would expect it was over by halftime with those numbers. Did ourselves not favors - but I really am sick of these inconsistent and inexcusable blown calls by the shitty ACC officials.

How does that school even have accreditation still? F UNC - pack of illiterates.

Apart from the RPI, the computer numbers for us are actually stronger than I would have guessed. We're lacking the top wins, but I think we have a better profile than people think:

RPI: 67 (strength of schedule is 37)
BPI: 38
Kenpom: 41
Sagarin: 32

Ya, that actually surprises me quite a bit. I think the game at BC is critical, and I have serious doubts that the Irish come out of there with a W. Hopefully Harvey is back to give them another capable body, even if it is for short stints.

I'm actually sitting here almost wanting an NIT run at this point... if healthy our boys can actually win that thing.

Four straight wins and a loss at Virginia would get us an RPI around 40'ish I would imagine.

Since the tournament went to 68 Teams, the highest RPI ever left out was 48 (Missouri, 2014).

Before that, for an ACC Team, it was 41 For Florida State in 2007.

Wish we could move 2 years into the future where more advanced metrics were used instead of RPI, but I think that metric likes us enough that with 4 straight, we'd be in.

I am of the mind that Bonzie shouldn't return. I know the competitor side of him wants to play, but what does he have to gain? It will be an uphill battle to get conditioning right, get the tempo, etc. Yes, he would make this team significantly better, but I am not sure it would be enough to get the team to the S16 with all the challenges he would fact.

Like you, I think it would probably be better for the 2018/2019 team if they went into the NIT, assuming they would end up playing more games.

I just want Bonzie to rest up and prove that he can be a player in the NBA. He has done more than enough for ND.

I can't see the Irish beating UVA, plus with it being on the road. A 4-1 reg season finish and a couple of wins in the ACC tourney I think they would be strongly considered to be in. Outside of that ... nada! Then it is ... NIT here come the Irish!

We SHOULD get a small boost due to performing better with Farrell back as well. We went 1-4 without him in ACC play, and I hope they reward us if we go 6-2 to finish the regular season with him back + whatever we do in the ACC Tournament.

II podcast a couple days ago reported that Bonzie is planning a return for the Wake Forest game. They said this came from him and not from the coaches/trainers.

I’m assuming that the x-ray that was to be taken today was a good one.

Don't have that subsciption either, but he's obviously out of the boot and starting to move around more. Good sign that he's feeling pretty good. I'd think if he was a little unsure of his foot he wouldn't be doing this with Pflueger running around screaming at him, balls rolling around, and Farrell messing with him like he was.

Ya I saw that video too. It looks like he’s moving very well.
Just wanted to see if the article had a timetable or not. Would be huge if he came back for at least the Virginia game.
