Rochell is definitely gonna be a captain

I wouldn't go as far as to say he will "definitely" be a captain, but he's definitely in the discussion.

Offense - Zaire, Robinson, Elmer
Defense - Jones, Rochell, Luke

Those are the top 6 IMO.

WR is very thin with Fuller declaring and Guyton likely transferring. We have to find a way to get Alize involved in the passing game.

Any TE in general. I was somewhat surprised that the TE passing game wasn't utilized a more often this year. I know the #1 TE went down early and Alize was just a frosh, but surely he and Nic Weishar could have been thrown to more than they were. IMO, as talented group of TE's the Irish have, they definitely need to be more involved passing-wise than what occurred this past season.

Captains need both "sense" and fire.

1). Rochell;
2). Elmer and/or McGlinchey --- my guess is that Elmer might call the pre-snap line adjustments, if that's relevant [a la NMart];
3). If Zaire wins competition: him. Maybe him anyway;
4). #2captain on defense? What's Cole Luke's personality like? He is the proven star. {too bad Sebastian is not an original NDer; he seems to have the "adult" experience.}

Would really like to see Redfield stay and step up and make himself a captain.

Re the first post, isn't Daelin an "EE," too?

Fixed.

1) Yes.
2) Elmer may get unseated, tricky, is McGlinchy a leader? He's clearly intimidating.
3) He is by far the most obvious choice, but that is dangerous! Having your team captain be your potential back-up QB.
4) Cole Luke does not seem like a confident leader.

James O is a people person, a starter, and a really hard worker.

I think Jaron Jones and Folston have a chance.

Would really like to see Redfield stay and step up and make himself a captain.

Redfiled and Robinson seemed like easy bets, but now I doubt both.

Hard to imagine Redfield being captain after being sent home. He needs to be put in a position where he needs to fight to even start, much less be a leader.

Yeah. Leaders on the defense - especially in the back seven - seem in short supply. Onwualu, I guess, but he's got a lot of Schmidt and Farley in him. Redfield seems unlikely and Luke just seems quiet. For the 50th time, I really wish KVR had stuck around another year. Alas...

My guess on captains would be Zaire, McGlinchey, Rochell and Onuwalu. But none of them strike me as, say, Sheldon Day.

I was looking at this list last night and noticed a few minor errors on eligibility...

Justin Brent and Jay Hayes should be "Jr. '18" as they both redshirted this year...both are listed as "Jr. '17"...

Daly is a RSS '16, like Jarron Jones.

Thanks, the first two are good catches because they red-shirted as Sophmores! Is Daly going to stick around?

No problem. I don't know if Daly is going to stick around or not, but he definitely won't be our 4th string FS!

Assuming Guyton transfers, we are at 81 before 5Y decisions are made. I think it's safe to assume Jones, Daly and Sebastian return as 5Y/GS, bringing the total to 84. I think we'll have one more transfer surprise, leaving room for two more commits. It'll be interesting to see what happens if the staff signs three or more remaining prospects.

I'd like to see Harrell and Baratti put on the Hounshell plan (ie compete during spring and summer and get a spot if there is one come August).

As usual, the numbers are going to work themselves out.

If we lose Luatua, we'll reallly start to exhibit a weakness in keeping California kids.

... or Mormon kids. Luatua would be 2 of the last 4, right?

With Jalen Guyton , So. ‘19 most likely gone. We need one more transfer or a decommit. End the class with Robertson, Kelly, and Jones
