Except that Trump was (for once) consistent. He said last night on 60 minutes that his views haven't changed and that he doesn't like the electoral college. So between 2012 and the 60 Minutes interview yesterday he still doesn't like electoral college... whereas Slate's editors ran one piece in 2012 and then ran a different piece in 2016 now that they're all pissy over losing.

So much for that.

Anyone see that over half the arrested protesters in Portland didn't vote? What a freaking joke...

One good thing about Trump winning is that it will expose the appalling hypocrisy and incoherence of ND's decision to honor President Obama in 2009.

(I'm assuming that ND will not be honoring Trump at commencement next spring, but I suppose anything is possible.)

Now, why would ND honor Obama in 2009 and not honor Trump in 2017? Is it because Trump is vulgar and oafish? Presumably so. Is that worse than being pro-abortion, as Obama is? Not from the perspective of the Catholic faith.

So what explains why Obama was honored and why Trump will not be honored? It's simply a matter of academic fashion. Obama, at least in 2009, was fashionable among liberal academic elites; Trump is highly unfashionable among this same group. Thus ND's decisions in this regard are entirely unmotivated by its Catholic identity and wholly motivated by liberal academic fashion.

It is the responsibility of ND students and alums to call attention to this and remind everyone that honoring Obama was a mistake. (Note that I am not advocating honoring Trump.)

And I haven't posted it because it's not confirmed....but a EMT posted last night that a 4yr old girl died in his ambulance because they had to take another route because of said protests. Took them an additional 45mins to get to the hospital.

If that is true......

Which do we think / which is worse:

A) Trump is a flip-flopper who deliberately changes his position to deceive people.

B) Trump didn't know what the Electoral College is until yesterday.

Not really surprised by this. There's a big anarchist scene in the Pacific North West.
They should go toe-to-toe with the Free State Project people in New Hampshire. Spoiler alert: FSP has all the guns.

More than half of arrested anti-Trump protesters didn't vote in Oregon | KGW.com

Portland, Ore.—More than half of the anti-Trump protesters arrested in Portland didn’t vote in Oregon, according to state election records.

At least sixty-nine demonstrators either didn’t turn in a ballot or weren’t registered to vote in the state.

KGW compiled a list of the 112 people arrested by the Portland Police Bureau during recent protests. Those names and ages, provided by police, were then compared to state voter logs by Multnomah County Elections officials.

Records show 34 of the protesters arrested didn’t return a ballot for the November 8 election. Thirty-five of the demonstrators taken into custody weren’t registered to vote in Oregon.

Twenty-five protesters who were arrested did vote.

KGW is still working to verify voting records for the remaining 17 protesters who were arrested.

This article originally stated that 35 people were registered to vote and did not. One woman who was arrested told KGW she recently moved to Washington and did vote in Washington. She was also registered to vote in Oregon.

Or maybe people are bigger than one policy position and Obama was a great commencement speaker who "honored" Notre Dame by accepting the invitation.

As it happens, Obama invited himself. ND did not have the cajones to say no. (You don't have to believe that, and I won't name any sources, but it's true.)

Apart from that, we all know that Trump will not be invited to speak. That's my point. From the perspective of the ND administration, Trump is not "bigger" than "one policy position"- presumably, they think he is racist, xenophobic, blah, blah, blah, and therefore will not invite him (nor permit him to speak and choose to honor him should he pull an Obama and invite himself).

So why is Trump's "one policy position" disqualifying but Obama's is not? There is no way to answer that question by reference to Catholic teaching, only by reference to contemporary academic fashion.

My brother was at ND when Obama spoke. Said the vast majority of students favored it and there were more outside protesters than students. I report, you decide.

Also LOL at conservatives complaining about safe spaces on one hand and complaining about Obama speaking on the other.

Yeah, it sure was fun having all the random assholes... I mean, "activists"... pushing baby strollers with "murdered" babies in them around campus, flying planes overhead with banners, etc.

All because a guy was going to give a commencement address.

The issue was not the address. The issue was the honorary Doctor of Laws degree, which stood in direct contrast to the declaration from the USCCB, which states explicitly:

The Catholic community and Catholic institutions should not honor those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles. They should not be given awards, honors or platforms which would suggest support for their actions.

Questioned this earlier in the thread.
Not shocked.
You lose the right to bitch if you don't vote IMO
Even if you do vote, who riots? Like... who's sitting around at 9:00 on a Thursday night thinking "I have nothing better to do than go riot right now"?
