You could be right, but I think he's gone:

Cardale has declared and I don't blame him. His stock won't get higher than it is right now.

How far has the intellect of this nation fallen, that a guy who has started a grand total of 3 games suddenly rates putting normal programming on hold, to televise the press conference where he will announce whether he is going pro or coming back?

On ESPNEWS? I feel like that's exactly the appropriate thing for them to be covering. It's not like CNN or MTV are covering it.

A news conference to announce he is returning to school and become a back-up again? Seriously? And the mayor was there? Oh my...

NFL Live put on back burner, for ESPN to cut to Cardale news conference.
...of a player deciding whether to enter the NFL. How is that inappropriate for a sports channel airing an NFL program? I think the press conference is ridiculous but I don't think it's a grand statement about "how far the intellect of this nation has fallen" that a sports channel is covering a sports story, specifically a football story on a football program.

Even Cardale said something like "I don't know why y'all had to make such a big deal about this."

ETA: This kid is actually impressing me. Shy, humble, articulate, motivated. Amazing that the "we ain't play school" kid is putting Jameis Winston to shame.

And THAT is why ESPN is so maligned. You guys over there have a corporate mentality, obviously, that is a cancer to the thinking man. Marcus Mariota won the fvcking Heisman Trophy, and there was no interruption of programming to cover a press conference for his announcement. This was nothing more than grandstanding and trying to create a story, instead of simply reporting the story.

Mariota didn't even HAVE a press conference. I promise you that if he had, ESPN would have been there.

If ESPN didn't cover this story, y'all would have bitched "OMG HOW COULD ESPN NOT BE COVERING THIS!?"

ETA: ESPN had nothing to do with this conference and they don't even have cameras there. The video feed they're airing right now is from WEWS, the Cleveland ABC affiliate.

Now this I can agree with. I don't know if he is being honest, or just reading from a script, but he sure is coming off as a completely different guy than the one that sent that tweet out.

No, I wouldn't. And I would be willing to bet that ESPN was instrumental in there being a Press Conference in the first place.

I'd bet every penny I have you're wrong. My paycheck doesn't depend on your opinion of ESPN but I'm telling you that's not how it happens.

Sooooo easy to criticize from afar..

Yes it is. Isn't that the basic premise of this website?

And I am not criticizing Cardale Jones for this. I am fairly certain this press conference was not his choice.
