His father played at ND under Faust for 1 year then left the program. He is going to try and visit soon. BVG really liked his film.

Per TJ regarding LB recruiting.

Each has some versatility of skill set, talent and profile/intangibles to his game right now and/or to his projection in college for our schemes. So, there are varied options to varying degrees across this group. Best way to state it for now: mostly, still TBD.

That said, Barajas certainly projects best Outside -- probably Sam given skill set and athleticism in space, but could end up at Will, too. If he were to grow a fair bit into the 235+ range, and if we play some Tampa2 (or "2Tampa" as Coach Weis termed it), it's conceivable he could get a future look at Mike depending on need down the road. But likely Sam or Will.

Hilliard has the most versatile attributes of those noted and could play Outside or Inside. Probably best Outside at Will (kind of a combo Out-In position in the Under scheme) or Sam, in that order. Has the ability and capability to play Mike, though.

Bilal is a trickier projection. Right now, clearly better Outside at either spot or even in a pass-rushing role despite slighter stature. But has the growth potential, it seems, and the football IQ as BVG estimates it, plus some of the necessary skill set and talent attributes, conceivably to swing Inside at Mike down the road.

Sampson said that he thinks we'll get some of the other LB's on campus before looking for a commitment from Bilal. To which TJ said this.

I believe what Pete suggested may be the way this plays out, given that Bilal doesn't seem on the verge of popping.

But if Bilal suddenly decides to commit (to ND, hypothetically), soon and well ahead of any further decisions or clarity from guys like Masina, Thomas, Coney, etc, ND likely would take him happily. They like each of these guys, though differently. To some degree, then, the timeline for decisions and relationship clarity may well determine what occurs. Numbers game!

Hilliard would be the exception to this calculus. Auto take.

Gustin, by the way, is largely in a different part of the equation. He best projects, ultimately, as a RushDE. Coming in, though, he could play some OLB. He is this year's version of Drue Tranquill: defensive athlete, though Big Skill category.

Scout: Cager says ND is recruiting the hard lately. He is invited to the Opening. Leaders are ND, Ok St., OSU, Rutgers and WF. No offer from the first 3.

This was a phenomenal effort and use of commas, when ignoring them would have been easily forgiven. Dshans just shed a tear of joy.

I thought this was interesting. Post from the II board.

Devonaire Clariington, a TE prospect, recently said this to a Miami recruiting site:

Coach Larry Scott is recruiting him to Miami.

"Everything is great with me and him," Clarington said. "He wants me to be a Cane, be a big tight end for them."

Clarington says he's looking at a couple of main factors as he moves forward with his recruitment.

"The
academics can't be too hard like Notre Dame - that's too much stress
trying to do that (and football)," Clarington said. "And distance might
be a factor - I want my parents to come to the games."

Asked if that is a big boost to UM's chances, Clarington said, "That helps Miami, but I still have to make that decision."

Sounds like ND is once again the object of some negative recruiting. This whole "academics is too hard" is overblown.

If I worked at that university, I would be embarrassed.

Clearly he didn't come to play no school.

This is what we are going to have to expect with talented starting players in all sports being suspended. That is one of the reasons we support ND over others - we have an honor code and stick to it. I take comments like that, and the negative recruiting that go alongside them, and consider it a huge compliment to the university.

That type of kid is just lazy and wouldn't cut it regardless. He's looking for a place where he has to put in the minimal amount of effort in the class room.

@AnnaHScout: MRI includes a projection of #ND's entire class, an update on J. Cornell, plus a stacked visitors list in June ($) Scout.com - College and High School Football, Basketball, Recruiting, NFL, and MLB Front Page

-Jashon Cornell is favoring Ohio State and MSU. He is still expected to visit Notre Dame this month though.

-Shaun Crawford could pop anytime and ND has all of the momentum in this recruitment.

-A summer visit for Ryan Newsome is likely but nothing is set in stone yet.

-Anna did a second early prediction for the 2015 class. Here are some of the players that she thinks will be Irish on NSD.

Elijah Taylor, Karan Higdon, Porter Gustin, Mook Reynolds, and Adonis Thomas. There were other guys but these are the ones that caught my eye.

Most of this update was just review of what had happened the last week or so. But the class prediction is definitely worth noting.

Also she did not have Cornell, Hilliard, or Reid choosing ND hence the interesting picks arrow mentioned above
