That's 2 tall, lanky DEs offered in one day. If for no other reason, I like that running the 4-3 allows us to go after guys like this and not worry about whether or not they can carry 280+ lbs.

Was Rasool reported as receiving an offer? To my knowledge we only visited him.

It feels like the staff has offered so many defensive players so far this cycle. Seems like a lot more than when Diaco was still here

I don't believe that Rasool was offered. From what I've seen it was just a visit like you said. He's a long, very lanky prospect. I'm not sure if we offer, whether it's a lost cause or him being such a project.

You mean like in the last cycle with the bevy of offers to front seven guys that went out after Diaco left (and led to, what, three or four commits)? We're definitely pitching a bigger tent on the defensive side of the ball these days.

With Brandon Wimbush's commitment to Penn State, the quarterback pool has been reduced to Kyler Murray and Torrance Gibson. In contrast, defensive linemen/linebackers seem to be content to wait out their available options.

Elijah Jones didn’t need to open all four envelopes from South Bend, Ind., to realize he was being invited to Notre Dame’s Irish Invasion camp on June 20th.
“I wasn’t really sure what it was,” the 2015 California athlete admitted at first.
“I thought it might be a couple of hand-written letters, but I opened the first one and I saw the gold, so after that I figured out what it was.”
The Irish have been extending invites to the top-flight camp by sending four postcards that come together to form the invitation. Jones’ came last Wednesday.
“I was pretty excited,” the 5-foot-11, 175-pounder from Upland, Calif., said. “A couple of my friends have told me it’s a pretty big camp, so I’m excited to get out to Notre Dame and visit.
“Blake Barnett, I’ve talked to him about it and he said it was a pretty big deal.”
Jones plans on accepting the invitation and is looking forward to his first trip to Notre Dame.
“I want to meet the coaching staff, especially the DB coach,” he said. “I want to get around the campus, the facilities and all of that stuff.”
He’s also excited to show the Irish what he can do on the field.
“I’ve seen some of the kids who have been invited, they’re ‘the top guys,’” he said. “I’m excited that I got invited, so I could compete with those guys and prove that I’m up there with them too.
BlakeBarnettIrishInvasionInvite“I think my athleticism is underrated, so I think I can show them that there too, and my football IQ too.”
Jones currently has offers from Nevada, San Diego State, San Jose State, Dartmouth and Yale.
“Stuff is starting to pick up right now and it’s a relief to know that all of the hard work is starting to pay off,” he said.
He made recent visits to San Diego State and San Jose State.
“I love the coaching staff at San Jose State, especially the DB coach, I have a good relationship with him,” said Jones. “The same thing with San Diego State, plus the campus is really good.
“This summer I’m going to go visit Harvard, Princeton, Yale and Dartmouth.”
Jones understands he could have a difficult decision between big-time football and big-time academics.
“That’s definitely the tough part,” he said. “With the Ivies, you get the world-renowned education and all of that, but it’s not a secret that the football isn’t on the same level as schools like Notre Dame. It’s definitely something I’ll have to balance out and weigh my options.”
Notre Dame could offer an opportunity for both.
“Notre Dame is one of those schools that every kid dreams of getting an offer from. It doesn’t get any bigger than that. It’s up there with USC, Penn State and all of those schools. There’s a lot of tradition, great program, all of that.”

I hope these two paragraphs were not a continuation of the same thought.

Not from this article but from II he said that he has ran a 4.25 and 4.29 at camps this spring. Obviously that seems like a stretch but he's fast regardless. Not sure if he'll visit this summer but most likely an official.

Don't have time to go over all of that right now but here's one tidbit thats interesting. An assistant coach will be visiting Neville Gallimore DT from Ontario Canada. Apparently the defensive staff really likes him.

Neville Gallimore

Neville Gallimore - Hudl

He looks stupid athletic for his size. (I don't know how much I can believe 6'3" and 300lb.)

And he looks extraordinarily raw.

Canada Prep Academy's football program, operating as Canada Prep Football Academy, is the only high school football program in Canada that teaches American rules football and plays a full U.S. football schedule.

Their schedule is legitimate. They played St. Ignatius (Jimmy Byrne's school), but lost 14-35; they also played Poly Prep (Jay Hayes' school), but lost 25-53. They went 2-5 last season, their scores look like they'd be an above average large Ohio school.

Agree, on all thoughts but especially this one. Not sure thats accurate. Otherwise he's an interesting prospect to follow. Not sure if he's worth a schollie right now but one to follow.

As a true DT, I like the Louisianna kid better.

I would agree with that as well. I'd like to take one DT early, like Jozie Milton. Then wait it out for either a higher rated kid or to see if one of these kids improves more than the others.

Gallimore's upside is above Milton's, but I absolutely love both kids, especially when considering we had Hayes, Cage and Mokwauh in the fold from last year.

I would be extremely excited if we 'whiffed' on big name DTs and got Milton and Gallimore for 2015.

Watched this kids tape again last night and continue to be very impressed. I'd think we'd have him at LB but he toasts the opposition running the ball. Nice to know we're going to get an honest look.

Good points. Day and Jones have 2 years maybe 3 for Jones. Those 3 from last cycle will have been in the system for 3 years. That will allow this class to develop. I also agree that Gallimore has more upside but I love Jozie's toughness. Side note, I'm excited for Hayes.
