Happy to hear that Watkins is pushing ND.

Luatua, Morgan, Sykes, Nelson alone is fantastic.

If Nelson replaces McKenzie in this scenario we would be at 23, leaving 2-4 spots.

Out of the remaining guys listed in the update here is my wish list for those spots.

1. Solomon Thomas
2. Quick
3. Elam
4. JuJu

We would definitely go to 27 if it was those 4. No way coaches could turn it down.

More likely finish, IMO, for the final 2-4

1. Hendrix
2. Elam
3. Quick
4. Hill

I think JuJu is all USC. Andrew Williams stays south. Thomas is interesting if he truly can't get into Stanford. Can't remember off top of my head who his final group was but have to think ND and Texas would be two likely landing spots. Just seems like too much for us to over come. Would LOVE for Thomas or Elam or both to fall in our lap. What a gift of talent the DL would get next year. Elam, Thomas, Blankenship, Bonner, Dickerson, Hayes, Trumbetti...Good Lawd!

But as I stated above a combo of Luatua, Morgan, Sykes to our current class is kickass alone.
Don't we also have Braden Smith in play as well? Thought we had a shot with him as well.

Hmm, let's see if I can get this right...

Top, left to right: Quenton Nelson, Nile Sykes, Jhonathan Williams, Nic Weishar, Jonathan Bonner, Greer Martini, Jimmy Byrne, Sam Mustipher

Bottom, left to right: Charles Nelson, Drue Tranquill, Justin Brent, Grant Blankenship, Kolin Hill

Damn, I'm good.

Jhonny Williams is not 6'6 looking at him next to Tranquill

He looks 6'6 standing next to 6'6 Weishar in the other picture though.
Not to be all creepy but you know who looks ripped is Justin Brent. That guy's gonna be a ballplayer.
Also good to see this many guys make it out for the banquet in the cold and snow. Doesn't feel like a lot of flight risks this time around.

Drue looks like the 3rd installment of Harrison Smith and Zeke Motta - jacked. It skipped Austin.

Yeah not even close, but in the group photo he looks every bit as tall as the OL recruits. Is Tranquill just freaking huge? He's absolutely cut too... pretty darn optimistic he can get up to LB size... or thumper safety for power teams. Classic athletic tweener.

We have talked about this before, he is also in the foreground. It is one place having six inches makes a difference!

A name to keep an eye on moving forward is Terrance Alexander. 5-11 CB from John Curtis HS in Louisianna. No offer but he might visit. Favorites are Ole Miss, tOSU and Stanford.

can we assume outside of recruits receiving letters that the next few weeks are going to be quiet along the recruiting front due the dead period that extends from December 17-January 3? other than all star game practice reports from the recruiting sites, but it'll most likely be pretty mum. am i wrong to assume this?

I'll put this here. Loy posted that he's hearing that we most likely take 2 more. 3 is possible but 2 is likely. It seemed like we were setup for more than that potentially at one point.

Hendrix and Morgan? Sucks that we're likely going to strike out for Quick and Smith.

Prospects falling off the board and they aren't going to reach for someone over decent 5th years. It's possible someone gets a late offer, but I find it unlikely unless some decommits happen. We can and will take more than that number if it's possible, but that's unlikely to happen.

The 2 we've got the best shot at now are Morgan (should happen) and Nelson (doubt it happens, but maybe).

Quick has his own academic issues I'm not sure if he ever got straightened out, but we're at least in the top group. Juju is a pipe dream, IMO... but others like where we stand so I guess we'll see. Hendrix is a possible and we'd take him but I worry about Arkansas now. Schultz is unlikely a take with the TEs we've currently got, which is just a shame. Too bad he's not a 2015 prospect. That's really the only "possibles" left on the board.

Crossed off Elam, Thomas, Williams, and likely McKenzie if rumors are accurate, which they may not be. I feel like I'm forgetting one prospect somewhere...

If you want to include Lazard, also Brown if his offer is commitable. Also Braden Smith.

Yup. There we go. Brown not happening (at least I don't think so) because we slow played (who knows if that was the right decision), Lazard I don't even really count... think that ship has long since sailed, and then Braden Smith would take a miracle to pull from the state of Texas but who knows.

He's visiting in January. I wouldn't say we need a miracle.

I know he's visiting. We will still need a miracle. We trail by a lot and he's already been to campus... so the odds of a "wowing" visit are basically nill. The only reason we've got a chance at all is Hiestand = boss.
