Was looking at some of the uncommitted on the ESPN 300 list today. I look at this class and wonder who is out there the staff is pushing for that we don't know about yet...?

I guess there could always be a surprise, but at this point it's hard to see who the staff might be pushing for that we don't already know about. Certainly among uncommitteds. We've only got 2, maybe 3, slots left and we're already deep in the hunt for more elite guys than we have room for. (Six of the seven top names left on our board are in the latest ESPN 150). Plus we've still got contingency plans out there waiting, like K Muhammed.
I guess we could still whiff on most/all of them, but even then, the numbers are such that it's worth asking if it's better to, say, bring back Carlo Calabrese and save the slot for next year.
We'll see, though. Maybe a nice January surprise awaits.

We're not taking kalfani Muhammad. I think your talking about Alquain though.

Honestly IMO the staff is recruiting

Redfield
AQM
Folston
Robinson
Treadwell
Alexander
Maybe Priest Willis

No, I meant Khalfani, as a fallback, in case everyone else fell through and they decided they wanted another quick slot/potential DB kind of guy. But I agree he's clearly not a priority at this point and you might be better off bringing back an extra 5th year.
And, right, it's hard to see anybody better those seven names popping up at this point. Because those seven names are pretty damn good and we're seriously in the hunt - to varying degrees - for all of them. Nice problem to have.

What's the official verdict on numbers for the scholarships? If/when Mattingly drops doesn't that open up another slot? What is the story with Tate Nichols, isn't he going to receive a hardship that would open up another slot?

No Moore at all? Thinking staff cooled completely on him after Luke popped.

Many believe Tate is done and will open up a scholarship. If Mattingly left we would have three if Nichols goes down we would have 4. But those are a bunch of what ifs

Four is a good amount of space. AQM is pretty well tied up, so figure 3 spots left. Redfield, and then who?

Folston, and they would love Treadwell or Robinson

Yeah it's too bad they don't have a high calibre DT/NG prospect they were looking at, or are currently looking at. It seems like Folston and the WR's are just adding people to be adding them at this point, given the relative wealth the Irish currently have at both the RB and WR positions currently. It would be different if they were JR's and Seniors, but the guys we have are young.

Agreed, ND/DT is a need IMO. Maybe a surprise come signing day or flip a guy into that position. I certainly hope that AQM is in the fold-the board mindset is that it's a done deal.

Interesting topic for discussion. Saw an article I believe on ESPN the other day that was about Donovan Munger and he stated we were in his top list of schools. I thought we moved on but maybe he would be a last resort type effort for the inside.

Every so often I go to 247 and rivals and get giddy or this incoming class and like to do what ifs like others have done on here. According to 247 if we added Redfield and AQM that would be two more top 85 players. (35 and 82). That would be 4 top 100 players with a lot of post season opportunities for others to join.

Knox is OL that committed to Texas over osu within the last week.

Watkins is a top 30 cb.

Paris is the #1 player in Texas, #2 safety nationally I believe.

Can we get Redfield on the master list here? Thanks GB.

Seems we have a solid two spots left, with a good chance at three spots. I think Mohammed is in the fold for another premier DE and we catch one out of Redfield/Treadwell/Bryant. All three are worth making room if more than one wants to come but not sure we make room for all three (unlikely anyway).

I think Folston goes elsewhere b/c I get the feeling we want others before him and he may be gone by the time we figure out if we have room or not.

Nah, we'd take him today if he wanted to commit, according to Tunnel Vision, just like Bryant, Redfield and Treadwell. Specifically mentioned that his recruitment does not depend at all on Bryant's; we would take both.

#NotreDame OC Chuck Martin continues to make huge impressions at Detroit's Cass Tech. (Premium) Irish Sports Daily Forums

Hmm what does that mean? Not sure who we are targeting there in the 2013 class ... not Delano Hill since we are still in good shape for Redfield ... not Dave Dawson, right? We could use a guard but still I doubt it. Must mean underclassmen like Jayru Campbell.

I would think 2014 and 2015 (Jaru)

Sweet. Thanks for the update.

That would be in the good problem to have category.

GBdomers prediction
I don't feel like going through and editing the top half of this so just bare with me. I believe ND will round out the class with 3 more prospects maybe four if a miracle happens and an elite prospect opens up. I am extremely confident ND will close with these three prospects.
Folston I don't know much about him but I know the ND staff on II loves his film and what he can potentially bring to the offense. This is payback for Oregon taking Byron Marshall from us last year which I think Folston is just as good. He will be deciding at the Under Armor Game and all signs point to Notre Dame. It's nice taking 2 of the top 5 backs from Florida this year.
Another prospect I believe Notre Dame will get is Max Redfield. I am extremely confident Redfield ends up Irish even more than I am Folston does. He has been my man crush since day 1 in this class and I believe is an elite ball hawking safety from a place and position we just don't recruit that well. I believe Redfield will play right away not start but will play a TON his freshman year. I knew Charlie Weis could recruit against USC but now Brian Kelly is also showing he can recruit well against USC also. Notre Dame doesn't win a whole lot of 1 on 1 battles against USC in Cali.
The last prospect I believe will end up with the Irish is Alquain Muhammad. I heard he was a silent the night he supposedly gave his commitment and I still believe he is. The reason he hasn't visited is due to paperwork and also some think academics are the thing holding it up. Notre Dame likes to have there prospects academics and stuff in order before visiting kind of like the LaRue thing. I expect AQM to chose ND at Army Game than visit sometime shortly after that.

Other prospects ND is after Deon Hollins I believe the only way we expect his commitment that is if we miss on AQM.
Eddie Vanderdoes not happening imo.
Sebstain LaRue after Massington left for UCLA I don't see LaRue going anywhere.

btw I brought up Max Alexander last night some of you got excited but the ND staff has moved on and I believe him and his brother end up at Kentucky for some reason.
