Guys Shembo and Ishaq are getting much better. They are both natural cats. I bet you they will stay there. Councell is tearing up at dog. And Prosise and especially Romeo are naturals for dog. I mean Romeo can play coverage linebacker all day, change direction, rush the passer and stop the run. All in a package the size of a mountain.

Prosise is probably a little light right now for DOG. He probably needs a year/two in order to be ready. He might be a natural based on his style of play, but until he's 240 or so, he's going to get pushed around. Sure he can cover, but DOG does more than just cover.

I'm thinkin' the same thing but someone said it above, (that they were trying him) and don't forget Jamoris played star back (or whatever you call the extra db with a 4-2 set, and true dog linebacker, both last year. That was with him at about 196, I think.

In order to play DOG you need to be able to flip your hips and run with TE's. Ishaq is more of a hand on the ground get after the QB type.

Maybe move Fox to DOG? You'd still have Kendall Moore, Carlo, and Grace in the middle.

“@NDatRivals: Brian Kelly said Notre Dame installed quarterback sneaks today in practice. Must have been nice for Kelly to dust off those after last year.”

Gonna call BS there.

On another note the team headed off to the lake after morning practice today.

It's the DOG position, not MIKE/WILL.

You saw how well Slaughter preformed in that roll last year, putting a safety (or psuedo-safety) at the coverage LB position can do great things.

Yeah that's why I said awesome, I thought Nicky would be first look but I am a big fan of Prosise .

Right. Remember jamoris last year played pseudo DOG, I guess. It was against Navy/Army when we needed a fast LB that could cover side/side better. But it was purely situational.

I think there's situations where it could work. But I think if they're moving Prosise, it's to put weight on him and a permanent move, not for situations.

Okwara looks more like a CAT to me. I thought he would redshirt but with the way he has impressed Idk now.

Okwara wouldnt be very good at DOG, he is a DE/CAT hybrid, I cant see him being very good at pass coverage, he is too big. Though moving Prosise there could be interesting if he can gain some more pounds. The issue I keep thinking about with DOG is that we have the best DOG LB in the country coming in next year (Jaylon Smith) that could start right away. We are pretty loaded at Safety right now, I wouldnt mind seeing Baratti given a look at DOG either. Though I dont want both Prosise AND Baratti moved to DOG.

Just my 2 cents. But I am not sure why some are excited for Okwara at DOG, it doesnt make sense to me.

Next year we have 2 prospects that could play CAT coming in so Okwara could move back. I fully expect Jaylon Smith to Atleast Split playing time at DOG

I love the new guys getting reps and even possibly game reps. Very important for young guys (not all, those who have earned it), to get PT early in careers.

Thank God. Doesn't sound as bad as we thought for Spond.

“We’ve exhausted a number of different tests (and) he’s come back clean on all of them,” Kelly said of how a concussion or any head injury has been ruled out for Spond. “We’re gonna do a little more work before we move any further with him relative to contact and getting him on the field.”

Kelly says there is no timetable for when Spond might be able to practice again, but hopes to have an update on his status sometime early next week. He says he was to be absolutely sure he is alright to return before he tries to resume any contact.

BK better make sure Spond is ok. If another tragedy happens on his watch his career is probably over.

*Not saying that his career is even comparable to Spond's health.
**Also not saying he was responsible for the previous tragedies.

In a II interview Kelly said that Okwara and Prosise will move to DOG for now and Kelly praised Okwara's pass coverage skills. Kelly also said that Spond may or may not be back by the end of camp.

Well that sounds like a career-ending injury won't be the case. That is awesome, if true.

Poster on ISD is stating that the specialist in Ann Arbor has diagnosed Danny Spond with severe migraines. Hope it's true, as the reports of stroke or something as serious were quite scary. Believe there are ways to treat the migraines so that he can continue his playing career without adverse affect. Obviously his health is paramount, but if these reports are true, I would love to see him back in the fold if truly able.

And to add to that, this guy is close to the Spond family; he hardly posts but I trust his word is golden on this one. It truly is awesome news that it isn't nearly as bad as we originally had speculated. Happy for him...

Thank God.

Migraines suck though. I get like 1 or 2 a month. Can't imagine getting that all the time. Doesn't Percy Harvin suffer the same thing?

Rather not move Prince back to DOG. He is a natural fit at CAT.

I think IrishIllustrated agreed with you when they wrote the story on him moving to DOG calling it home sweet home just yesterday. Kinda funny.
