On that note, anybody think Jimbo Fisher gets canned if he doesn't make a serious run at the title in the next two years? This year was supposed to be a cake walk for the Seminoles right? Florida really kicked the crap out of them too.

Auburn would like to have Jimbo... maybe it's time to go reset the clock.

Just scary...starting to see Diaco and Martin's names being tossed around a lot more now with these vacancies. Understand that's the nature of the beast but I would love these guys to never leave ND.

You know. I was thinking. We have seen time after time, slow to pull the trigger, from both sides, prospect and school, does it. The only time I can safely state that a relatively untested (at that level) almost unknown, worked out was Brian Kelly at Notre Dame.

What a prospect has to do is look over a multi-year period, while building their resume. Many jump too quickly, especially when their dream job opens up.

What a school has to do is usually wait an extra year or two, looking the whole time, and hopefully time it when it is a buyers market, in otherwords, not a year like this. Everybody is getting a shot this year, so there is going to be a higher avererage failure rate than usual.

Butch Jones is reportedly being courted by Purdont. This move would make sense from Purdont's stand point given their AD basically said they want an offensive coach that runs the spread. I would not bite if I was Jones tho.

The Denver Post had Bob Diaco as one of their suggested candidates for the Colorado vacancy.

I bet Auburn might consider trading that NC for good ole Consistent Tuberville. Auburn is about to sink into the black hole of irrelevance.

ESPN article on vacancies and fits only has Diaco listed as a candidate for the BC coaching position. Would be kinda odd to play him every couple years since BC is in the ACC now.

I overheard a co-worker in my office the other day saying Chizek was a "top candidate" for Purdue, LOL. Let's see, he coached in the SEC, won a NC, and made $3.5 million. Now go to Purdue and try to revive a struggling program and make $900k? I don't think so. Purdue AD Morgan Burke is slowly crippling Purdue's major sports with his tight pockets. Hell, Kevin Wilson at IU made more than Danny Hope!

I see either Darrell Hazzell from Kent State or Brock Spack going back to Purdue. Jones might still be an option, as the Big East is crumbling anyways.

I think Hope's multi-year buyout was something like $600k. Compare that to most BCS school coaches, and your point on tight pockets is spot on.

Here in Lafayette (I work here unfortunately), I'm hearing Purdont has already raised roughly 4 mil. No clue how it will be used, but it's football related. I think the days of tight pockets are over. They've lost a ton of revenue over the last couple of years and they're trying to get people back in the stands.

With that said, it's still Purdont and regardless of the coach, top recruits aren't going to want to play there.

Boiler Down! Toot! Toot!

I don't see Diaco going anywhere, anytime soon. It's been discussed at great length on this board that he's in a position to build a hell of a defensive resume and learn from one of the best program builders ever. He'll stay put for awhile and soak in all the knowledge BK has to offer.

I've seen USC fans who want him as their DC next year.

Andy Reid and Dave Wannstedt are the only qualified candidates. The Purdue job requires glorious mustachios.

Could just be a stunt by his agent to make him the highest paid coach in the SEC. Cue the crazed pig lady and her computer karaoke.

If Diaco's hair is any indication, I can only imagine the golden treasure that would be that man's mustache.

Holy sh!t. Whatever happens, the Mad Hatter is about to get paid.

True dat.... would love to see this happen (to Ark) actually. It would be glorious to see the LSU fan reaction (especially the ones in my hood).

Mark Stoops is the new coach at UK!

How does that affect Fl. State recruiting on the defensive side?

Also major rumors of Jimbo to Auburn.

@John_Infante: Current NCAA rules would prohibit this Gruden-Browns nonsense unless the ownership stake was first donated to Tennessee.

@wesrucker247: WREG-TV claims Vols' boosters have offered Jon Gruden part-ownership of Browns to take UT job: News Channel 3 Learns of Tennessee’s New Twist To Lure Jon Gruden | WREG.com — Memphis News & Weather from WREG Television, News Channel 3

On the Mike and Mike show this morning Gruden adamently denied that he has any talks with the Vols or that any offers had been made.

A lot of Mangino to Colorado rumors. I hope this happens.

The idiotic AD Bohn stated that their first choice is a current coach at another school. So if any of the Mangino rumors are true, then it means that Bohn is either a 1) Liar or 2) a bad recruiter of talent (as his #1 said no). Either way, the Mangino smoke isn't as thick in Colorado as it is in other parts of the country.

I like that idea though.
