Good thing to remember, Clark Lea offered Manning, not Rees or Lyght.

Lucky and I were talking about Manning in another thread apparently and this is a guy who is way better than his old 3* rating (since fixed by 247 in a BIG way) and a guy you have to feel ND is in a great place with.

There's a lot of talk that his bump up to just outside of 5*ville is unwarranted so if Donte wants to correct that all he has to do is... commit to the Irish and he'll be a Top 150-200 overall in no time.

Also as mentioned elsewhere, Manning's got good track speed. His best reported times through his Jr year of track are:

100m = 10.77

200m = 21.96

Per his Jr film: Had 2 Int's / 1 P6 and 2 PR-TD's.

Also very effective in the run game and plays with a serious edge.

I would think it’s a good start. His recruitment had a promising start with a 2hr phone call with Clark Lea. Then it seemed to go south in a hurry with a canceled ND visit for his OU visit and eventual commitment. If he slows it down this time around maybe there’s a shot.

Right now it appears that flip season is on for BPA DBs. ALso looking at Jerrin Thompson and Malcolm Greene at Safety and Ramon Henderson may be a backup plan to those 2. Driskell is not high at all on Henderson.

Maybe it started out as a legitimate request because of disrespect, but now it seems like its just the standard thing they say along with being "blessed" for every offer they get. Those are just two of the accepted and expected phrases in the modern language of recruiting.
