I respectfully disagree. Would you feel the same way if this was a playoff game or the championship game?

I would. Standards are standards regardless of circumstances. Not knowing the circumstances of the violations, they violated team rules. They let their brothers down.

Absolutely. I had plenty of teammates in college who broke rules and got suspended. And as a team we dealt with it and moved on without them. It's not the fault of coaches when a kid agrees to the rules and then does not follow them. A lot of team rules stuff is the same no matter what level or where you play. Rules are set out at the beginning of each season in a handbook just as play books are handed out. You learn the deal in camp and if you don't hold your end you get punished. That's life. I believe the only people to blame are the kids who broke the rules.

You can disagree, that's fine. It still does not change that this is how team rules are administered in college football regardless of level or team. Now some coaches may not hold their guys to punishments or whatever, but from what I know and what he has shown throughout his time at ND, Coach Kelly is a team first, integrity guy. Sometimes respect comes from enforcing the tough rules regardless of who is involved.

Cage isn't healthy? Really?

And yeah, Jones is going to be able to play 20 snaps max at a high level from what reporters have said.

It was reported he had an ankle sprain earlier in the week.

The difference is this team is already almost decimated with injuries. I don't believe that one was.

So integrity is dependent on how many guys are injured?

Y'all are unbearable right now. The kickoff is an hour away and the defeatist attitudes on here are killing my positive pregame vibe.

I think the real problem is that, a few people on here, believe integrity should only be minded when it is not negative for ND winning a game. Just because other teams skirt their own rules in order to have better odds at winning does not mean ND should. In fact, I'd have a very tough time rooting for ND if that was the case.

I wasn't arguing they shouldn't have been suspended. I was pointing out Watter's team was much healthier so one suspension didn't have as much an impact even though he was a stud player. I fully blame the players on breaking the rules. If you overlook the rules you turn into Urban Liar.

I just don't know why missing curfew = missing a full game in the first place. That's my issue. The punishment does not fit the crime. OSU suspended Barrett for 1 game for an OVI and we suspend kids for one game for not getting tucked in on time (in a weird time zone btw).

That is why this is ridiculous. Suspend them for a quarter and move on.

Exactly, if Zeke Elliot was on ND and had that mishap with a suspended license, I can guess he wouldn't be playing today. Where Urbans hands were tied with Washington, he wasn't going to suspend Zeke for having legal trouble also because of the nature of the offense.

Since when is having higher standards a problem at ND. I know as fan it sucks, but winning at any cost is not the most important thing in football, specifically so at ND.

Just because OSU sets their bar low does not mean we have to one-up them to prove we are morally superior.

I would argue that non of us know the extent of what caused these suspensions. We were given the reason of curfew, but we don't know what that entailed. Without that info, we are really arguing an unknown.

I mean that's a fair argument, but I'm not talking about moral superiority. I'm talking about team rules. You are not on the team and neither am I. But they were set before the last week, guys knew the punishments. They either thought they didn't apply to them or they made mistakes. I'm not just on a moral high horse my guy, I lived that life, and football was way to important to me to break team rules, regardless of what they were. I didn't want to let down my teammates, one of which was my brother, my parents, or my coaches.

Has it been put out there that it was indeed a curfew issue for Tillery? Or are we just assuming he was with Max.

Since Redfield indicated that he wasn't the only one to miss curfew, I assume that Jerry was his accomplice.
