I hope he's ready by then, heck it took Ronnie Stanley (a frequent comp I see) 4 years. Yeah Ronnie was getting hype after his 3rd year, but he hadn't solidified a 1st round grade.

This might be because Ronnie was behind the best Notre Dame lineman in the 21st century.

Had Ronnie showed up 6-8/295, he would've been gone in 3. As it was, there were a lot of scouts/teams who wanted him to come out after 3 because they didn't need to see anymore.

He was beating out Z Marting at LT? I doubt that. Ronnie showed lots of promise, but IIRC his last offseason at ND was his only healthy one. Yeah scouts were intrigued by his potential on the field, but 2014 was his only tape at LT and he would've came out with questions on whether he could stay healthy or not. He was not a guaranteed 1st rounder, which is what you should be aiming at if you're an elite LT prospect.

I very much hope that Tosh is as good after 3 years as Ronnie was after 4, and if he's ready to be another 1st round Tackle for the Irish after 3 years, I'll be rooting for him.

Ronnie came out 2 years after ZMart. He could have come out in the 2015 Draft. He played LT for ND in 2014.

Oh I know; he had 1 year of LT tape for that 2015 draft, that's my point. He solidified his draft ranking for the 2016 draft with his play on the field in 2015. His 2014 tape was good, but he was not a lock for the 1st round like he was after the 2015 season.

Come on guys, Ronnie wasn't playing guard.

Ooo now this is an offseason argument that I'd love to see. Would probably need its own thread.

Who's better? It could be filled with plenty of comps. But I'm most intrigued by Z Mart vs Q

I’d say Martin because the NFL has shown us that he was a first round pick at tackle and an all-pro at guard. Nelson is a mean SOB but has nowhere near that position flexibility.

We're talking what they did at ND.

Nelson had a better highlight reel but Martin didn't give up a sack after the first drive of the first game of the 2012 season against Navy. That's essentially two full seasons.

Despite thinking Martin is a slightly better technician, I'm partial to Nelson because he took a lot of good DLs' manhood to the woodchipper his junior year. Teabagging defenders and being meaner than shit is an ideal trait.

Patterson's move to Center really sucks for Correll. Kicking Patterson out to Guard when Banks/TK leave will be tough to do with Lugg and all the others waiting on the depth chart. Correll will have to wait a loong time for that spot to open outside of an injury.

As for Baker, he'll be a starter in '21. He's a 3 & Done lock just like Jaylon was.

I think after the 2020 season Patterson moves to guard or even RT for the 2021 season. Giving Correll the opportunity to start at center in 2021 as a red shirt sophomore.

I don't know if I'd peg Patterson as a center the remaining four years of his eligibility he has left. I think Quinn and the staff want the best 5 guys out on the field at the same time. Patterson is smart enough and athletic enough to take over the one free spot which is center.

Just imagine what he gonna do once Balis gets a hold of him . . . there is a top 5 draft pick in the making.

Yeah, regional kids do not stand a chance with his combo of size, balance, and mobility. He is going to be a beast.

Gonna get a 5th star from Rivals this week.

Zero reason Tosh & Broderick Jones aren't in the Top 15 like Paris Johnson is.

Great stuff. Did he move up the rankings or are they handing more out?
