Eastcoast 247 guru Brian Dohn CB'd LA to ND last night and Sampson added one this morning.

He's gonna pop this weekend.

1 down... who's next?

He's a 4.4* on 247 and a 4.7* on Rivals. I doubt he ever gets to 5*

He's a lot smaller than Allen, (like 30 lbs) He plays faster. LA is a highly ranked indoor hurdler. He's not blazer fast in the 100m but he'll be very athletic for an ND safety.

I think Rivals has him properly ranked at #5.

Couple more ND CB's since last update from OSU's Gleitman and LandOf10's Donnally.

Come on Admissions, give him the green light so Barney can do his thing.

I was expecting better #'s but he got in under the 4.65 cut off so good enough.

6-0.5/188

40 = 4.65
Sht = 4.39
PB = 32'
Vrt = 33.7"

Total = 86.34

Curious as to why we aren't getting one peep out of Litchfield or the media. Did he visit Ann Arbor right after Notre Dame? Did he get the information he wanted to receive? And when the heck will this dude commit to the good guys?!

Not sure what the hold up is. Doesn't sound like there is any lack of confidence out there, that he'll eventually choose ND. It just sounds like his decision might be closer the beginning of May

Michigan analyst Lorenz with an ND CB.

The CB score: ND 14 - The Field 0

I know the dude didn’t post amazing test numbers but he just went from a 92 on 247 to an 87?? That’s criminal! I think a scorned Michigan fan got in there

Yeah. Wow. Dropped all the way to the 535th player. Not sure I’ve seen that massive a drop quite like that

Lol, and when Lorenz flips his CB to ND and says that UM stopped recruiting him and hasn’t been for awhile “at all”. 247 is full of tools.

Make him mr.irrelevant and the absolute last rated player and I’ll still love watching the purple dinosaur dance when he commits.

Or maybe LA’s poor testing numbers altered 247’s evaluation the same way that a 4.91 40 yard dash changed a lot of posters’ perception of Keith Maguire. I hope 247’s eval is wrong but I won’t fault them for downgrading LA to high 3* status if he’s not a top-flight athlete.

These sparq scores are overrated. Fun to talk about but I would certainly not use them as a large part of an evaluation process. Gave those similar feelings about a Maguire’s 4.91. Which, for a LB is way worse than a S running 4.65. If that matters at all.

I agree to an extent. Pretty sure Parker Boudreaux tested out of this world in SPARQ and we know how that turned out. Even so, LA’s ratings have been dropping across the board and it’s easy to see a bad SPARQ score as the final domino justifying a significant ratings drop.

And I guess that last part is where I disagree. Not necessarily with you but with the idea how they use this to evaluate. If I get paid to do evaluations and I know that I’m evaluating prospects with vastly different maturation processes and levels of combine training. Then I wouldn’t put much weight in the sparq scoring system. And that’s without even going into how and what they are testing.

The NFL combine is completely different. By that time, the maturation process has, somewhat, evened out for most young men. Plus, most, have had an opportunity to get high level training for said tests. Especially the 40.

The ratings drop is terrible. Wtf

This is how it always seems to work with players that are Notre Dame bound and recruiting services.

"Oh, he's going to Notre Dame? We should drop him 100 spots because, uhh, we can do that, right?"- 247, probably.

Still an elite addition to the secondary. 87 on 247, 5.9 on Rivals, and 81 on ESPN. The other two services are closer to what's going on. Dude was wanted by Clemson, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, Tennessee, Michigan State, Wisconsin, and Virginia Tech. That's kind of the who's who of blue bloods and good defensive teams in college football. If they all felt like he could help them, then come on down Litchfield!

All it says to me about 247 is dont bother listening to our projections of player a year out because we get it badly wrong.

hard to look at a picture of this kid and not think he has went through quite a bit of the maturation process. Dude looks 30.

Fair, but that’s only part of it. Training and nutrition. He has an under developed physique. We can just go back to BK’s statements about ND’s speed training, to notice a difference in how specifically training for it has benefited them. Most HS prospects aren’t receiving that type of training. Hence, our team seeing such significant strides being made as collegiate athletes.

Are those schools that offered still recruiting him though?

I just watched his film for the first time. I'd give him a 3 star rating. I dont see a tangy athlete that can cover the field, I see a hard hitter but average speed for D1. Not great size either.

Based on their film, I would have personally graded Studstill higher if they were in same year. I dont think he's a non factor, and I think he'll play at ND, but he's definitely not a can't miss IMO.

You don’t see a rangy athlete because that’s not his game. He’s a box safety that’ll probably play close to the LOS.

As long as we’re not pulling a Chez Mellusi on him I really don’t care what the kid’s ranking is. Lock this one down.
