If we do end up landing...

SDE Joseph Anderson
SDE
DT Hunter Spears
DT Jacob Lacey
DT Mazi Smith/Jowon Briggs/Rodas Johnson
WDE Nana Osafo-Mensah
WDE

Wouldn’t you want to slow play the last two DE spots and go after guys like Zach Harrison, Joseph Wete, Joshua Pakola, Laiatu Latu, Ani Izuchukwu, and Marcus Hicks for WDE over Colt Ellison? How good is Colt Ellison? Haven’t seen his film, offer list isn’t unreal, and rankings aren’t crazy. Clearly the staff likes him if they are bringing him up on an early OV.

ND stands very little chance for most of the guys you listed. The staff obviously has a good feel for the situation.

In a small way, I think having Ellison and Spears on board (Spears has been playing up the Texas connection on Twitter) might be the final nail in the coffin to get Nana to commit.

Here's a scenario that is almost as likely as the chance of getting Harrison to commit. We slow play Ellison, Nana feels the brotherhood at Texas and we still don't end up signing Harrison. ND is left holding an empty bag and IE implodes.

Which group of guys? The list of guys at the top of the post or at the bottom? If you're talking about the guys at the bottom, then I agree. If you're talking about the guys at the top, Notre Dame will probably land all of them except Smith and one of Johnson/Briggs.

Sorry. I was talking about the bottom guys that he was suggesting that we slow play Ellison for.

I thought I had enough question marks in my post to convey this as not knowing if he should be slow played or not. I'm not ND should or shouldn't just wanted to know, and seems like most like him as a take for ND.

WDE Board
.9991 5* Kayvon Thibodeaux - CA - FAR - Never Visited
.9981 5* Zach Harrison - OH - 4h15m - 11/19/16 & 4/2/17 & 6/24/17 & 11/18/17
.9641 4* Khris Bogle - FL - FAR - Never Visited
.9529 4* Nana Osafo-Mensah - TX - FAR - 1/27/18 & 4/14/18
.9486 4* Cade Stover - OH - 4h5m - 10/15/16 & 11/18/17
.9395 4* Jason Bargy - IL - 2h5m - 4/2/17
.9391 4* Joseph Wete - DC - FAR - Never Visited
.9374 4* Joshua Pakola - CA - FAR - Never Visited
.9313 4* Laiatu Latu - CA - FAR - Never Visited
.9161 4* Ani Izuchukwu - TN - 6h30m - Never Visited
.9112 4* Curtis Fann - GA - FAR - Never Visited
.8739 3* Colt Ellison - TX - FAR - 10/21/17 & 4/14/18
.8678 3* Shemar Pearl - TX - FAR - Never Visited

Now I would agree with ab2cmiller that ND's chances with most guys rated higher than Colt Ellison are slim. You could say, Kayvon Thibodeaux isn't leaving LA, Harrison is OSU for 3 years then NFL, Bogle is not leaving the state of Florida, Stover is an OSU lock, Bargy is not a take, Wete comes from a football factory leaning HS, Joshua Pakola is going to Stanford, Laiatu Latu is not leaving the West Coast, Ani Izuchukwu is going to an SEC school, and Curtis Fann is going to an SEC school.

OR, Zach Harrison wouldn't drive 4hrs+ on four separate occasions to a school he has no interest in, Cade Stover has been to two game days at ND & loves Elston/Kelly, Wete spoke glowingly about Elston & ND to Sinclair on 3/9, Joshua Pakola is high on academics & told Corey Bodden he'd like to visit 2/22, and Ani Izuchukwu told Kevin Sinclair he's good friends with Joseph Anderson & would love to visit ND when Anderson comes next.

I would say that ND definitely trails for most guys above Ellison in the rankings (except Nana), but we'll know more April 15th when news comes out about how Ellison & Nana liked their visits. Either way, the DL recruiting is exciting to watch unfold due to Mike Elston's immense efforts on the trail.

I'm still surprised that Harrison has visited 4 times prior to this year.

But I feel it would be a Manti Te'o surprise he if commits to ND.

Didn't realize he had a top 3, but Mr. Hamilton says that he does.

I wish his tape was better. Too bland for my palate. I wish it wasn't the case because he's
an obvious RKG w/ a first class dad, at ND's #1 pipeline. Makes it very tough to not offer.

Huskies Get In The Mix With Texas Pass-Rusher

Washington threw their hat in the ring with 2019 Aledo (Tx.) DE/LB Colt Ellison last night and he said while it might seem out of nowhere, the prep work had been done by Husky co-defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski and Twitter.

"I had actually seen a picture of the campus up there and it's the most beautiful campus and area I've seen, so when coach 'K' started talking to me a couple of weeks ago, I got pretty excited about them and then earlier (Wednesday) he messaged me and asked me to call him and when we talked he said they were offering me," Ellison told Dawgman.com. "They said they like me as an outside linebacker (BUCK) and that they like how I play the game and how quick I am off the edge. They said they could see me fitting into things as a (stand-up) pass-rusher in their scheme."

The increase in interest from Washington has made him start to do some research on the Dawgs.

"I know they've been a top 25 team, actually like a top 10 team for the past few years and I know the program there is really good," Ellison said. "I also know the academics there are excellent and their Business School is one of the best in the country, so I know a little bit about them and I plan on visiting there this spring at some point, we still need to work out the dates, so that's a trip I am planning to take."

One thing that Ellison can do is get after the quarterback.

As a junior this past season, he totaled 13.5 sacks to go along with 92 tackles and 18 tackles-for-loss while helping to lead his team to a 15-1 record and a berth in the 5A State Finals.

"I use my hands really well and I just don't stop," Ellison said. "I can recognize plays pretty well and I just feel like when the quarterback drops back, I have the chance to make a big play for my team."

As far as recruiting is concerned, Ellison has over 20 offers and this weekend he'll take his first official visit.

"I'm going up to visit Notre Dame this weekend," Ellison said. "It's exciting because I really have wanted to get up there and check them out.

"I've seen a lot of the schools we can drive to already. Baylor (last year), Arkansas, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M, but I really want to get out and see some of these other schools that have offered me."

Ellison said he hopes to take all of his official visits before he makes his decision, but is open to committing to a school before his senior season begins.

We'll have more on Ellison once he schedules his visit to Montlake.

Unfortunately, he'd fit perfectly into Pete K's 3-4.

He's my #1 priority.

What are you guys talking about? I'm pretty sure he put one in for ND. It says ND has 5 of the 6 CBs and the TCU one has been there for a while

This is weird. What is going on with elston? Are some guys good to go then they aren't. It can't be just the analysts throwing in unnecessary CBs. Sinclair really takes that serious and he gave one.

Have you ever followed recruiting for any team in any sport, ever?
