Sorry to be a tad off topic, but if this kid doesn't wear the #45 in college then he's really missed a golden opportunity.

That's not saying much. If I was a cheerleader, I'd be the best looking cheerleader ND has.

Come on man. There's a few cuties. You'd be like 3rd or 4th best.

I think our cheerleaders have a labor union or something. And some sort of "legacy" policy.

You know it's bad when Purdue has hotter cheerleaders then you.

Is good to see the academic requirements don't just hurt the performance of the football team only, it's hurting quality of cheerleaders too

Aledo HS is a quality program in the greater Fort Worth area. Regularly produces D1 talent. Kid looks like a take for the Irish, like to see us making inroads into a very fertile recruiting area.

EJ Holland of Horns247 and Loy with the CB’s for ND. Could be a nice April for ND. The more I watch his film, which I’ve done several times, the more excited I get for him to be Irish

Not to be a downer but does anyone else get nervous about Texas kids who don't have an offer from UT or A&M? Home state schools can jump in late and flip them.

I wasn't too high on colt compared to nana but after watching his film compared to marcus hicks and beau robbins, who are both ranked higher on 247, i thought his film was better than hicks. Colt looks faster on film but hicks is stronger. Does colt play lesser talent than those 2?

Visited Arkansas on Saturday. Evidently Arkansas is taking the pOSU approach of touting their academic programs.
The Recruiting Guy Top prospect enjoys visit with Hogs | NWADG

Defensive end Colt Ellison, one of the top prospects in Texas and the nation, visited the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday with his parents to evaluate the Hogs and the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.

The visit "for sure bumped it up there," Ellison said.

Ellison, 6-3, 231, 4.65 of Aledo, Texas, has offers from Arkansas, Notre Dame, TCU, Penn State, Baylor, Texas Tech, Minnesota and others. For Ellison, there was a lot to like during his visit to Fayetteville.

"It was great, it was amazing," said Ellison, who is being recruited by cornerbacks coach Mark Smith. "It's a great place. Everything is like state of the art. The weight room is huge and long, the indoor is 100 yards long."

CBS Sports Network national recruiting analyst Tom Lemming rates Ellison a 4-star-plus prospect, just shy of being a 5-star.

"Ellison is the fastest rising prospect in the metroplex," Lemming said. "In fact, I'm making a special trip to his high school next month to see him. He's aggressive and has a non-stop motor and shows good use of hands along with excellent technique."

Ellison recorded 96 tackles -- 18 for loss -- 13.5 sacks, 7 pass deflections, 1 interception, 2 forced fumbles and 2 recovered fumbles as a junior for powerhouse Aledo. He also gets it done in the classroom with a 3.8 grade-point average.

"They have a great business program and that's what I'm going to do," Ellison said of Arkansas. "They were telling me it was one the top ones in the country. I haven't really looked into it, but that's what they said."

He was able to have some one-on-one time with Coach Chad Morris.

"He talked about the plans for me," he said. "He told me to make sure I take all of my visits and find the right place, no matter where it was."

Ellison's mother commented on the professionalism of the staff.

"Mom likes it a lot," Ellison said.

Aledo usually produces some top talent on a regular basis, and this year is no exception. Highly recruited cornerback Jeffery Carter and sophomore running back Jase McClellan, an Oklahoma commitment, are Razorback targets.

"I'm going to tell them they need to get up here," Ellison said.

It's true. In 2014, USNWR ranked them #1 in having MBA students employed at graduation. Clearly that means they have one of the best programs.

There is that one other pesky piece of info though, that Businessweek ranked them 105 for undergrad.

But when all fails, highlight the positives, amirite?

It does? It’s just one datapoint. And employed where? For all we know, Walmart hires half the class every year (which is fine, Walmart’s a great company, for an exec. But if your aim is Wall Street or management consulting or whatever, you might be better off elsewhere). Regardless, MBAs from real schools don’t tend to have too much trouble finding work.

Whatever. Arkansas can say whatever they want. If the kid/family have their eyes open it’s hard to see Arkansas winning an academics argument over Notre Dame. I’d be more worried about his stock continuing to rise and getting more interest from Texas/A&M/OU.

I would tend to agree with you, but word on the street is that they are going to start doing Real Life Thursdays this year.

Film, play style off the edge and body kind of reminds me of MI DE chase winovich. Colt possibly being slightly taller and heavier at the same point in their HS careers. I think after 1-2 years in the system Colt could be a productive player of the edge.

If we do end up landing...

SDE Joseph Anderson
SDE
DT Hunter Spears
DT Jacob Lacey
DT Mazi Smith/Jowon Briggs/Rodas Johnson
WDE Nana Osafo-Mensah
WDE

Wouldn’t you want to slow play the last two DE spots and go after guys like Zach Harrison, Joseph Wete, Joshua Pakola, Laiatu Latu, Ani Izuchukwu, and Marcus Hicks for WDE over Colt Ellison? How good is Colt Ellison? Haven’t seen his film, offer list isn’t unreal, and rankings aren’t crazy. Clearly the staff likes him if they are bringing him up on an early OV.

I questioned his skillet too until I watched his film. He isn't nana or Joseph Andersen. But I think he is better than hicks from a pass rush and speed perspective. Hicks is stronger. He is equal with beau Robbins at this point.

Actually scratch Marcus Hicks. He’s being recruited as SDE. The staff see’s him at 6’6” 275 in the future and wants him at SDE which I could see. I still think the staff could try and get a few of the guys on campus before going with Colt Ellison and presumably closing the position.

I agree. But at the same time he is much better than most of the DEs we've got in the last few years

Definite take. If you consider what Elston said about Daelin Hayes last week to be true, and pass rushing is more than just being an athlete, then here's your guy.

You're not going to find many HS Juniors with a better pass rushing skillset than Colt. There are a lot of physical freaks out there, that win with just speed, power, etc. That doesn't always work at the next level. This kid can play.

will take a kid who knows what his hands can be used for any day of the week. Hayes has yet to learn this.
